They serve food, fast! Their fries are the best! Their burgers come with endless toppings, so add mushrooms or grilled onions or jalapeños...anything, almost! The dining experience is a very "bare-bones"environment, nothing fancy. The Coca-Cola machines are okay--functional but only service one person at a time. I ate here the other day for the first time and felt like the food was sort of mediocre for a substantial price. All I got was a small bacon cheeseburger, small fries and small drink and it was over $12. I don't eat burgers that often anyway so I sure don't want to spend over $12 for a hamburger meal when I could get a steak dinner at Cheddar's or even a complete buffet that includes steak at Golden Corral for the same price. Heck, for $3 more I could get the prime rib at Big Texan if I show up before 4 p.m. They say the bun is toasted, and it is, but it wasn't toasted enough to keep it from getting soggy from the ingredients. I sat where I could see the kitchen area and they set the bun with the condiments out where it has to wait for several minutes for the hamburger to be ready, during which time the liquids from the condiments like lettuce, tomato, grilled items, Mayo, whatever you order, drip down into the bun. I didn't make it halfway through it before the sandwich completely fell apart and I had to go get a plastic fork to eat the rest with. The fries were pretty good, perfectly salted, and they do give you a ton. I was reading that their policy is to give you an extra scoop of fries with every order. The problem is that then the fries end up all over the inside of your bag making greasy, which they think is a sign of generosity but it's actually just a mess to try and transport. The condiments did seem fresh but next time I think I would order them on the side. Someone else commented they didn't think the bacon was good but I thought it was very good. I was kind of surprised that it took over 10 minutes from my order to arrive. There was only one couple ahead of me whose number was called but surprisingly they called at least one number after mine even though mine was just a one person order. There weren't very many customers in the place considering it was dinner time. All the employees I encountered were very nice and cheerful. The bathroom was immaculately clean. They do a pretty good job of cleaning up the dining area but I did notice wrappers etc on a table and french fries etc on the floor for longer than they should have been after people left. What I eat here again? Don't know. Maybe. While I was dealing with the mess my hamburger became, I noticed the fine print where it said you can order your hamburger without a bun. I asked an employee how it is served without the bun and she said it could be made into a lettuce wrap or served in a bowl. If I did come back I would definitely order it that way. read more

To begin with, I'm passing through Amarillo and I can't believe the attitude of "too cool Zach E." Joe Dirt wanna be. Unprofessional in that he wouldn't acknowledge me as a paying customer standing directly in front of him. He wouldn't look at me while I ordered. This is the first Five Guys I've visited after declaring an allergy to gluten and he acted as though he could could care less because he failed to announce to the back cooks this fact. I ordered "All The WAY.". I only received a bacon cheese burger. Returned and having them start from scratch. I'm from Las Vegas and these guys could take a lesson from us regarding customer service. Zack did declare that the back cooks would see the receipt and know what to do. New burger tastes bland, maybe I lost my appetite. Customer service, first impressions. I noticed as Zach is wiping tables the knees of his pants are missing, major holes. I'll be here a few more days and I won't return. For those of you looking for a good Five Guys, you might try down the road. The cheese didn't melt and for the first time I didn't finish my burger. I hope the owner is reading everyone's review. We went to the 5 guys here in Amarillo, it does have the fancy soda machines and the orders of fries are super huge. Every burger is a double. The staff is friendly. I ordered the grilled onions and they came regular, which kinda was disappointing. We ordered one burger with mushrooms and they didn't put any on it. The wait wasn't very long. The burger was good, but not crazy amazing, it just didn't have any flavor at all . The fries were Cajun style, had A LOT of seasoning. They don't have ranch . read more

I have a SEVERE gluten allergy and rarely eat out. I saw on "Get Me Gluten Free" app that Five Guys ONLY cooks freshly cut real French fries in their fryer. They are yummy and gluten free. I ordered a lettuce wrap and immediately ALL employees washed their hands and put on new gloves. They wiped all counters down, cleaned the grill. They packaged my wrap in a different sack than my daughter's hamburger with a bun. And they did it all with a smile! They went out of their way to reassure any questions about cross contamination. I did not get the horrible blistering rash that I get from gluten. Way to go Five Guys!!!!! I wish I could give them 10 stars!!! read more

The food is always consistent at Five Guys however, not at this location. The staff seems to be trained incorrectly on the large fry for $4.99. A large fry in all other Five Guys locations typically means almost a half of a bag of fries. I have never had this issue before. Had to walk back in and ask if the standards have changed. Suggestions and Improvements: Note to management: - Too many employees causes inefficiencies. This is apparent through the cleanness of your restaurant. A lot of standing grease on tables, crumbs and paper on the dinning area floor. Fries: - When charging a high price for fresh cut fries please don't give the customer the hour old fries in the heat basket. Customers will wait for a fresh batch..... Fries are excellent and plenty of them. I thought burger was not as much flavor as I expected but size is good. I ordered bacon cheeseburger with lettuce,pickles, tomatoes and mustard, small fry and we split it, more food than we could eat but we are trying to lose weight LOL not successful but trying. This is probably one of my favorite burger places in town. I traditionally stick to their hamburgers, because if it ain't broke don't fix it. Their food is always cooked well and is hot and fresh. I can honestly eat more of their fries than I'm comfortable admitting, they are just that good. This particular location has always proven to be exceptionally clean minus a few peanut shells on the ground, which are to be expected, and the staff is very helpful and receptive to order changes. If you haven't had the chance yet, go and try their Cajun fries and their milkshakes, you will not be disappointed. read more

I've been there twice and so far I have yet to be impressed. The burgers are way over priced for what they are. The ingredients don't seem to be of any decent quality. The meat seems poor and they use American cheese which is about as cheap as it gets. The fountain drinks are 2.29 for a 20oz which is way too much. And if you add fries then you are looking at plus $10 minimum. There are cheaper better burgers in town. Not worth it. read more

And guess what, if you continue to refuse special orders, such as a medium burger, you may as well wave your white flag because your hole in the wall will be vacant in the next 12 months. The burgers are among the best that I've had. The mouth watering fries are freshly cut and cooked in peanut oil. All of the ingredients taste fresh and the food is cooked after you place an order, there's no precooked food here. This is arguably the best burger restaurant in Amarillo. Been to Five Guys a couple of times. The burgers are OK but a little pricey. The burger toppings are nice and fresh. Fries are made from freshly cut potatoes and are pretty good. I must say, however, that I still prefer Blue Sky. read more
