This location is always pretty quick. It's right in the heart of Greektown so there's always someone around looking for a burger. The food is always fresh, hot, and ready to eat. Can't go wrong with whatever you put in your burger but the Cajun handcut fries are a must! read more

I'm ready to go five stars, after only our first taste of the place. But I can always update later if the food remains this great. We've put off visiting the new Livonia location because it is packed ALL the time. So, when we were done losing money at Greektown this morning (we get there extra early on Sunday because there's less smoke and crowds at 8am), we remember there's a Five Guys attached, and hey, they take casino comps! We both did cheeseburgers (= 2 patties). I stayed pretty simple with mayo and grilled mushrooms - it was so damn good I was ready to lick the tinfoil. Ken went more traditional with ketchup, lettuce, tomato, mayo and pickle - his was good, but both of us loved mine (he said he'd get it just like that next time for himself). We split a regular order of cajun fries - good, but a little over the top for spice. Regular is plenty for two people! The peanuts are fresh, a nice touch. Very clean interior. Friendly service. Great place for a late night snack. This place gets crowded after 2 am on a Saturday its a like a club after the club. The wait to make your order is not bad but the time to get your order was downright slow. The burgers are good, excellent filling size and not little micro burgers. I like the Cajun fries too. The barhroom at this time 2am is like the bathroom at the club very much in disarray, nevertheless it serves its purpose im sure thsy have everyone on staff serving the customers due to all the people. I was almost sick of hearing about 5 Guys OR being asked if I have ever gone there and if it was good. Thanks to a group of impatient, most unhealthy guys, we stopped in on our way out of the Greektown casino. I was a big fan of my burger(regular bacon cheese). A note to newcomers, a regular burger has 2 patties, and a "little" burger is a single. There were a plethora of toppings for my choosing as well which I like. I hate when places act like less is more....NO, on a burger, more is more. More bacon, more cheese, more meat, more tomatoes, more pickles etc. As a side note I'm a huge Checkers fan, and I got some similar Big Buford style taste with my burger. I will say this about the order of fries, it was large. They basically fill up a big cup, then pile more on top of that inside your bag. It is probably too much for one normal person to take down alone. If you were to stop in with another person I think splitting an order would be good. As far as the taste...just meh for me. I much prefer Checkers fries but 5 Guys weren't bad. In the end, I got a burger, fries, and a drink and I think my bill was around $12. Seemed a little high for semi-fast food....although a buddy did mention the prices were a little inflated compared to the location he visited previously. Its the only one that I know that serves beer... I think they had like four beers on top (thus the 4 stars). They are open late, connected to Greektown Casino, so you never have to leave the building. I was there at 1:30am and it was busy, loud and tons of drunks going in and out of the bathroom. Stopping in for a bite at what I thought to be a quick-serve establishment , I was pleasantly surprised with the service and quality of food at Five Guys. My cheeseburger was made-to-order in front of me, served up all the way, hot, juicy, full of flavor and a big delicious mess. My "regular" order of Cajun fries was large enough to easily satisfy two people. The only downside is how noisy it was inside with the workers yelling back and forth to each other, but I suppose that's what you get during the lunch hour. As someone who loves a good burger and fries, Five Guys (at least at this location) doesn't always cut it. I'm in the Detroit/Greektown area a few times a week. Parking here, as others have mentioned, is tricky. You can park in the street, if Monroe Street is open (it's usually closed on weekends due to the amount of people. Police are always protecting the area.) I personally recommend parking at the Greektown Casino parking garage which 19 out of 20 times is free of charge. Five Guys is hopping after an event or game. Standing in line and waiting around for a half hour for a burger and fries is hardly my forte, however. I'd much prefer being seated at a comfy booth in a restaurant than dealing with drunks and the chaos that ensues in this restaurant (fast food joint?!) There is a quieter section towards the back of the building that lets you get away from the rowdiness if you'd like to enjoy your meal in peace. As for the service and food ..... I can't seem to put my finger on it. Average. The fries are good and trust me, the potions are huge so feel free to share with your friends! The toppings on the burgers are endless and you really can't go wrong with the quality either. Better than McDonalds, that's for sure. A burger and fries is roughly $9 and change. This review encompasses 2 visits within a 1 month period, 1st visit was on Dec 22, 2010.... 1st visit I got the Hamburger with onions and mushrooms along with an order of Cajun Fries and a large coke. All was fresh, nicely spiced and quick. We got there around 11:20am and was out by 11:50am... The 2nd visit was today and I got exactly the same thing minus the Coke. We got there at 11:05am and left at 11:50am. The fries we over spiced (I like alot of spice, but this was ridiculous ). Needless to say, the fries tasted like Cajun seasoning only. The food was fine. Actually the burger was decent given it's glorified fast food and despite the subpar accounts I'd received from friends (perhaps I was just hungry). So why one star? The cashier, Cayla, had an absolutely gross habit of licking her fingers as she dealt with money and the register. I watched her lick her fingers repeatedly (twice, just multiple licks) before I said something. I was thoroughly grossed out, but decided to try to be nice and comment to her how dirty money can be. She very dryly responsed that she knew. Ummm ma'am, I was pointing out that you were totally grossing me out and was about to hand me money that you were licking!! I could care less what you do with your mouth. I'm not sure if she didn't understand my attempt to point out her unsanitary behavior or if she didn't care. The kicker came when I asked another employee if there was a manager on duty and he pointed back to the finger licker! So the manager has unsanitary practices?!! This Five Guys knows how to handle the crowds. It was almost 1am as we passed through greek town on our way to our hotel looking for some food. This place was open. It was packed. Yet the line moved quickly and the food came out just as fast. It all comes down to good people and good management. Unlike the location in Cerritos, CA, this location can manage the rush. It was a huge rush too. The Lions had played their last preseason game at Ford Field and Jay Z & Eminem had just wrapped up their concert at Comerica. The food was good as it always is. I've bee curious about this place, because it's been rated better than in and out. My memories of In & out are fleeting, as I've been there a limited number of times, and it's far away. However, this place is very good. I went of St Pattys day, so they were hopping, you could see them literally putting fresh meat on the grill to cook it. Yes, I have had better burgers in Sit Down places, but I don't really thing it's fair to compare this 6 dollar fast food joint (why do some of the ads say best burger for 5 dollars, when it's 5.39 + tax?)) to a 25 dollar hamburger I had, and will never have again because..wtf 25 dollar hamburger? I do like the Five Guys chain, but I'm going to rank this particular location as average (3 out of 5 stars) for two reasons: 1. Atmosphere - I went on a week night and there were a few bums that wandered into the restaurant asking customers for money. I got the impression that this was not a rare occasion. Given that this was a lively Greektown street, I was actually surprised this happens (I assume that none of the other Greektown restaurants have this problem). 2. Food Quality - Hard to put my finger on it, but the food quality (I had the cheeseburger and fries as usual) didn't seem up to par with the chain's standards. So I finally made my first visit to 5 Guys. I've heard such amazing things...."once you have a 5 Guys burger you'll never want a burger from anywhere else". Even the widely touted story of President Obama seeking out a 5 Guys to eat at, on some recent visitation of his. So I came in expecting a wonderland in my mouth. And.... Well, it was good, for sure! Better than the average fast food burger. I appreciated being able to load it up w a variety of toppings for free. But overall, I had expected more. It tasted comparable to a thick (like a double or triple) Wendy's burger to me. Now I love Wendy's burgers, I think they are far superior to all other fast food burgers. But still. 5 Guys was good, but didn't blow me away like it seems to, everyone else. Plus, they're pricy. And this location is great if you're already working or parked in the Greektown area. But part of the reason I've never come here before, gone out of my way to come here, is because it's a pain in the butt to find parking in Greektown just to jump out and get a burger. Five Guys is great... Everyone pretty much knows that... I first went to one down in Florida and it certainly is a pretty consistent franchise.. I would say that the quality of the food between the 3 different locations I have been to have been the same, all very good... Here is where I run into some problems... I went there after the Tigers game this past Saturday... It was quite crowded, but the food came out pretty fast which was great... We sat down, ate our food... on the way out I just happen to glance over at the wall and what do I see??? A f-in cockroach...yes, that's right, a cockroach... This may have been the first time I have seen one of these in Michigan and it was pretty disgusting... It was a pretty big one too, which made it worse.. It was more disappointing than anything I would have to say... So, I am in between the 2 and 3 stars... I've been to Five Guys multiple times throughout my life and this one is a bit different.. -Cheeseburger ($8): got all the toppings; bread was actually toasted and over flavored the mashup of toppings and the two patties. Okay cheeseburger overall. Had a bit higher expectation due to my experience with other five guys' locations -Service: clean location and nice people. It did take ~7 mins to get my burger which is a bit longer than usual Overall, clean spot for a semi-quick burger. I would personally recommend going to Wahlburger across the street (I actually said the opposite before I came to this Five Guys - just expected more from a chain restaurant) due to the environment, slightly better burger and alcohol. I normally get the bacon double cheeseburger with jalapeños peppers on it i like a little spice. If you do not have a liking for salt, I advised against the cajun seasoning. What is also available for your pleasure are boxes of freshly roasted peanuts. If you are light eater, I would suggest splitting a meal because it provides loosening of the belt satisfaction. Dress is casual but since it's Greektown and Five Guys closes at 2 in the morning on Fridays and Saturdays; you're likely to be "haute." This place really needs no introduction, such is conveyed by the countless framed five star reviews up on their walls. Five Guys is more than deserving. It's fast food goes four star. I have never been here during the day or through the week so I can't comment on how it is during those times. But on a Friday and Saturday night, MAN! It...is...packed! When the clubs and bars let out at 2:00AM, this is where you go to get a greasy burger to soak up all the alcohol you had (I know the hours say it closes at 10. Maybe that's through the week but it's def open all night on weekends)For that reason, it's not the cleanest place ever. There is always a line at the bathroom which is filthy. The most convenient parking is in the casino parking structure because you can walk through the casino to get to Five Guys so you don't need to walk outside. Just don't get lost in the casino or you may never get out. The food as always is excellent, the ambiance makes you feel like you are eating in a warehouse, I love the fries, and the burgers are worthy of being considered bad for you. Great, filling burger just the way you want it. They're on the pricer side for a place where you have to go up to a counter to place your order. You have to factor in the price includes any toppings you want. So if you like yours plain with ketchup you're wasting your money but if you want all the goodies then go for it. What a horrible fall from grace story five guys has become. My wife and I went to the Munro Street location for the absolute last time. I remember when this restaurant chain opened. It was so exciting to see fresh ingredients and generous helpings at a reasonable price. They have continued almost on a regular basis to jack up prices and scale back on portions. My wife and I ordered a regular sized french fry which costs five dollars and the portion size was less than a large french fry at McDonald's. When I pointed out to the manager did she think that this was worth five dollars she offered absolutely no resolve prompting me to request for my money back and vowing that this company will never get another dime out of me. We as consumers have the right to not be mindless sheep and allowing companies like this to take advantage of our generosity and loyalty. I often wonder if the corporate office realizes that some of their managers are treating their customers horribly. read more

I was BEYOND stoked to find out I could grab a Five Guys on my way to a meeting downtown the other evening - as much as I love and adore Greektown, I have feta coming out of my ears from the over-abundance of Greek food I consume each week. The new location is HUGE given the size of other Greektown establishments. The staff was completely on the ball - nice, quick and efficient. Everybody in the restaurant was so happy and kind - I think having a sparkling new Five Guys just makes life better. Bonus - beer on tap. This is a rock-steady 3.5 review that's getting the bump up because this fast-food burger joint serves five different draught beers and you can munch freely on shells-on peanuts while you wait for your burger (which isn't much time). Dea A.'s review takes care of almost everything I'd want to say. The food is delicious, toppings are plentiful and free, free refills on coke, the portion of the fries is JUMBNORMOUS (i had to throw a small handful away cuz I just couldn't get through all those fries), and they serve malt vinegar at the condiments bar, which, if you're Canadian like me, means the world... salt and vinegar on your fries is super ÑAM! Being on a very spacious corner lot, the building facilitates some hardcore people-watching in addition to bringing in a TON of natural light. Nice. My only gripe is the prices, which are inching upwards. My single-patty burger, small coke, and order of fries cost almost $11.
