So this is kind of like an upscale dive bar if you thought about a '60s type of style to it. If that makes any sense. We have a lot of retro vibe going on, but it has a little hint of modernness though with the history. You'll come in and and you'll hear music playing in the background and it's a little bit aged, but it's a really chill vibe and it's not going to be the party kind of music you're looking for. Which is okay if that's not what you want! I have no issue with the service and everybody was pretty cool. The waitress was super friendly, especially when I couldn't make up my mind because there are so many options lol. It's tree pockets so you have to park on Michigan Ave but there is plenty of it. Depending on what kind of day or night it is though. But just be aware you have to pay for parking. Seasoned fries - the fries come very seasoned and super crispy. You get a ton of them as well. You may not even need ketchup actually. French onion - this burger was good. Came with some onion rings kinda on the side. It was cooked medium and they got it pretty right with the temp. The cheese was melted well and it was seasoned pretty good also. Blt - this was a good BLT and it was very stacked. I'm not sure if you can make it out from the picture but it had plenty of everything on here. The bacon tasted great. Tots - they came out really hot and super crispy and actually gave you a heck of a lot of them too so that definitely helped but these are really good and you didn't even need ketchup. read more

We stopped in to get milkshakes after eating dinner next door. First red flag was that the front door glass was cracked and broken. Second red flag, they sat us at a table that was not clean and literally had flies flying all over it. We found a table nearby that was clean and sat there and immediately put in our milkshake order. The shakes were very good but we never saw our server again. We were not able to get silverware so I helped myself to some at the hostess stand. When we wanted to pay, she was nowhere to be found. We literally sat with the check and my credit card for at least 15 min before she finally reappeared. I also found it strange that I was charged $1 extra each for each milkshake to be placed in to go cups. A very underwhelming experience for an iconic restaurant. I know this is a burger bar but I just had one of the best fried bologna sandwiches I've had in a while. The person I was with enjoyed the burger and of course it was delicious. But I had to try the bologna once. I'm glad I did. It was stacked high with nice crispy edges, a good dijonaise and cheese. Hey server was I'm fast and efficient nothing outstanding but generally good service. If you haven't been to this place decor will keep your eyes busy for a while. We were in town for the weekend and trying to check out some iconic Detroit items. Per my research this was a good place to try a Boston Cooler (vanilla ice cream and vernor's ginger ale). We were nearby after brunch and walked the few minutes down to Mercury Bar's corner. Given the weather outside, we would have taken any place that had four walls and basic heating but the aesthetic of MB was fun, kinda like a retro diner. We took a seat at the bar. Since the Boston cooler was already decided, we just needed to pick out a beverage. I briefly considered trying one of their draught beers but then remembered that would not be good for the bladder and we were a ways from the hotel. They have creative cocktails so that made it easy. We ordered both the (and this is from memory because they savagely don't have a cocktail menu online) cherry poppins (cherry whiskey, neither of us remember what else was in it other than the chardonnay float which was very interesting) and a basil ?italian margarita with blackberry. Both were very strongly flavored, not for child-like palates. The Boston cooler, btw, was BETTER THAN SEX. Good thing that shit isn't anywhere near where I live that could be dangerous. We didn't try any of the food but it looked delicious especially the pile of fries I saw on some plates as they were coming out for other patrons. This was probably about our 3rd time here but it had been probably almost 10 years since we here last. I'm happy to say the food - burgers and fries were just as good as I remembered. Service was excellent too. I got the bacon and cheddar burger, medium-well and it was cooked perfectly. They get such a great crust/sear on the outside while keeping it juicy. Tried this place out before a show at the Fisher Theatre. Has a cool old-school diner feel. They do have outdoor seating in the back for when the weather gets nicer. Our waiter was nice, but the service could have been better. My friend said that the best part of her meal was the milkshake. They have a lot of milkshake options - specialty and classic flavors. The French onion burger was alright, but nothing special. I upgraded my side to fried pickles, but they were mostly batter. After my tour of Michigan Central, stopped by Mercury Burger Bar for lunch. We were greeted immediately upon entering and offered the option to dine inside or outside. It was a little too warm so we opted to eat in the dining area. Restaurant was clean and there was a TV with the Detroit Tigers game on. Our waitress was very attentive and made menu recommendations. We came here on a super snowy frigid Sunday for a bite to eat before the Pistons game. This place isn't that big and most of the tables were occupied, but the bar had plenty of seating available so that's where we sat. My honey had been RAVING about their fried bologna sandwich. I am not a bologna person at all but he made me want to try it. He was absolutely correct, the sandwich was delicious. I had them hold the onions but other than that got everything it came with, along with fries and a s'more milkshake. The also offered boozy shakes and had a s'mores option for that but the liquor in it was either bourbon or whiskey and I wasn't in the mood for either. My honey got one also with onion rings. Our food came super quick and everything was piping hot. The sandwich was amazing, the djionaise on it really set the flavor off along with the toasted Texas toast bread. It came with smashed up better made plain chips on it but honestly it didn't need them. The sandwich was enormous, I had to cut it in half to tackle it. It also came with a cup of pickle slices, very tasty and tangy. My toes were abundant, hot, salty and crispy. The milkshake was huge and soooo good! Very creamy and decadent and the toasted marshmallow on top was the perfect touch, so gooey! At first, there was some confusion over which server was covering our table, but after that was resolved, we were well taken care of by Hannah. I've wanted to hit this place up for years. I found out about their grilled bologna sandwich. Order the sandwich with no sides but I did add Mayo. When it was served I honestly was underwhelmed. It looked small and sparse. I didn't Oder any sides or add ons. WOW! So delicious and satisfying. the thin slices of bologna are crisp like bacon. It was well-seasoned and cooked, and was juicy on every bite. The bacon was just right -- crispy but not burnt. 5/5 on the burger itself. The tater tots, however, tasted dry (maybe a bit over cooked?), which was a bummer. Drinks were good. Service was prompt, but they seemed stressed out about a big group walking in, so it wasn't particularly chatty or friendly (which is fine by me). read more

The person I was with got a side of fresh cut fries with spicy seasoning and chipotle ranch if you want something a little spicy.
