I have to tell you that I just ate one of the best burgers in my life! The burger was cooked perfectly and the toppings of mushrooms, onions and peppers added a nice touch to finish it off. My family loves Five Guys! The workers are always very nice and seem to be happy to be there. They always seem to keep things fresh there which is nice. We usually order online and pick up which is super easy and the fries always seem hot out of the dryer. The one bad thing... What? I've heard the hype for quite some time and finally had a friend talk me into trying Five Guys, and honestly I can't remember when I've had a worse burger. The patty seems to have zero seasoning added to it, just tasting like nothing more than plain beef. No charcoal grilling flavor, no garlic or seasoning salt, no nothing. It was "well done" (according to the cashier, house rules), but was gelatinous in texture as well. The bun was smashed and gummy inside the foil. The fries were ok. To top it it off, the restaurant was freezing. It was a high 50's/low 60's degree overcast day, yet the inside of the restaurant was even colder than outside - why would they be running the AC on a day like this? To add insult to injury, the bill was ridiculously high. If the rest of the locations are serving up the same overpriced soggy tasteless burgers, I simply can't fathom how they keep getting rave reviews from celebrities and publications and average people. This place has really gone downhill lately. Extremely obnoxious rap music is played so loud inside and out that there's no chance of having a decent conversation. The iced tea tasted rotten. Everything was ridiculously expensive - a burger, fries and drink cost a whopping 15 bucks - and the people behind the counter seemed unhappy to see me. Food is good. Service??? I usually come at night, around 9 PM. Now they claim to be open until 10 but ALWAYS look put off when I walk in the door. Pissed off is probably more like it, like, how dare I come in for food to an open restaurant WHILE I'M WORKING!!! I wouldn't have brought it up if it happened once or twice. That's not the case. Back to the food.....very good but way too much salt on the fries. I love that they give you peanuts to snack on while you wait for your food.The burgers and fries are made fresh, and it doesn't give off that fast food kinda vibe. Let me start by saying, i am a huge fan of five guys. I love the concept and have been to many locations. I live very close to the one in Feasterville and have been many times. If it wasn't for my fanaticism of five guys, i would have stopped going to the feasterville location all together. The restaurant here is a perfect example of how poor management, neglect, and hiring a bunch of untrained and unsupervised teenagers can ruin a good thing. At McDonalds, you pay for what you get, you cant really complain. When you pay 15 bucks for a burger and fries, you expect it to be prepared and served a certain way... the way i have gotten the food has been not according to my order, overly greesy, uncooked fries, and stale buns. I first fell in love with Five Guys when I was in the D.C. area. So enamored was I of the burgers that I asked headquarters when Philly would be graced with an outpost, and the company suggested that I buy a franchise. A big error that I did not pursue that opportunity in the early 2000s. In any case, for the price, a Five Guys burger and Boardwalk fries are peerless. We go there to buy three burger, one large fry, and 3 drinks for a total of $45.00. The Lady suggested that we get rid of three drinks and the fries for a total of $24.00. Very welcoming building and welcoming staff, food is always great and comes up quick. The interior is always clean and tables are always clean. The service in Five Guys is phenomenal! The staff always had a smile on their face, which is usually rare in a fast food joint. I told them I am allergic to sesame seeds (which are on the bun), and they put my burger in a hot dog bun with no extra charge! Very considerate!
