I seem to be going through a mini tuna obsession lately. For the past few weeks I have found myself searching for deli or sandwich shop that does chopped tuna the way I like it - with mayo, celery, light black pepper and finished with hot and sweet pickled peppers. I can go for years without even thinking of it, but every once in a while I just gotta have some. Slack's Hoagie Shack is a regional chain in these parts. They have a large menu of everything that can be stuffed into a torpedo roll and eaten. They happen to do tuna particularly well. They seem to grind it, more than chop it, making for a smooth, plyably, dense consistency, that hangs together well in a sandwich, and accepts additional condiments easily. It is not overly moist, so it is not given to slipping out the back door, and keeps it's shape until bitten. One hoagie is enough for two meals for me, as the standard length is about 12 inches. Their bread is pretty good, but mine may have been past its prime, as it seemed ein bissel dry. In the Trenton area, with so many Italian bakeries, this is almost inexcusable. Fix this, and 5 Stars await. Service was excellent, with easy ordering by phone, and smiling takeout once at the shop. Facility was also immaculate.

Hoagies are really good. Food is freshly made. I shared a small Philly cheesesteak with my wife and it was plent. It must have been 14" or so. Wife and I split that with some fried pickles. Both were delicious. Staff wasn't super friendly, but at this point I'm thinking is a regional thing. They weren't rude, but lacking any southern hospitality. If you are in the area or visiting Sesame Place, it's a must. After my first bad experience with a philly cheese streak from a vendor in Reading Market in downtown Philly, this place delivered and lived up to the hype.

Slack's is a low-key gem and a local favorite for many. After hearing so many great things, I confirm it's definitely a fun spot with diner vibes, and it's great to come with friends. The food wasn't my favorite. I ordered the pizza fries, which were too thick cut for my liking, and it didn't seem to have come straight out the kitchen; the cheese was a bit hardened, and I think the staff was a bit distracted at the time. I was a little disappointed by the experience, but I'm open to coming again. They're more famous for their hoagies than anything, so hopefully I get to enjoy them the next time I'm in the area!

This place is hidden amongst a group of stores in a strip mall. I visit occasionally for lunch since it is very close to my office. Service is not the best in terms of friendliness but you can order and get your food within minutes. They are a tad overpriced but they give you a lot of food for the money so I guess it evens out. Food can be hit or miss. Sometimes they are very good other times not so much. Unfortunately, the latter was the case for this visit. I ordered an American Hoagie and Onion Rings-one was loaded with grease the other with oil . The other members of my party enjoyed their cheesesteak hoagies and fries.

Today, my order was a little underwhelming. I'm used to them cooking the steak through, the meat becoming dark, crispy diced shavings that pair well with the melted Cooper. My order today had a slightly undercooked, grey quality to it that also lacked in a good dash of seasoning, even if only salt & pepper. I believe I got a bit less meat on my sandwich than any other time I've been there too. As I mentioned, I believe I just caught them at a bad time or on a bad day because usually, this is the place to be!

I never watched Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones because every last loser on earth was all about it. The Beatles fucking suck and Bruce Springsteen can go shit in his hat. Pumpkin spice is for pumpkin pie and that's it, no matter what these dizzy suburban women say. So the decision to visit Johnny Longhots today was based entirely on poor reviews. The guy who ordered a sandwich to the hospital and found a cheesesteak to be "greasy" deserves to contract MRSA during his stay. The dope who complained his fries were soggy ordered his shit off Door Dash. He's lucky the driver didn't eat all of his fries. The folks who called out the teenagers who are getting their first experience working can all get bent. You weren't perfect when you had your first job. Don't forget people like you willingly locked kids in their homes during covid. It's no wonder some of them struggle with social skills and working under pressure. Have a little grace, then eat a bag of dicks for not being patient to them. Don't get me started on that dipshit from Brooklyn. That person who rated the place a one for the soda? I already know who you vote for. Onto the food - the menu is huge. There are a ton of choices with something for just about everyone. There's even gluten free options for those fucking people. There were four or five sandwiches in the running, but it was the Gritty Cheesesteak that ultimately won out on my first visit. And that's a strange decision for me because the Flyers stink and their fans are even worse. They're the worst organization in hockey. Maybe I just wanted fries on my sandwich. Yea - that's it. So the Gritty is a good amount of beef, fries tossed in Old Bay and topped with white cheddar cheese sauce atop a seeded roll. I added fried onions. The sandwich scores higher than the Flyers. I was a fan of the seeded roll which was super fresh. The cheese sauce was tasty and complemented the fries really well. They were super crispy, well seasoned and plentiful. The beef wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was tender and cooked well. All-in-all a good sandwich. The gals up front were attentive and friendly. They took my order quickly. Hats off to the kitchen for getting my food out promptly among the online orders. The place was pretty clean and had a ton of Philly Sports pics on the wall. The music on the radio was some throwback stuff - thank God it wasn't any of that mumble rap shit most kids play these days. Johnny's has a bunch of lunch specials that look worthwhile and a decent value. Locally owned spot worth giving your business to. It's a 4-star review from me that gets bumped to a 5 to spite the mopes who gave it a one.

We ordered dinner for the family and tried several dishes so we could sample a bit of everything…read more There were a couple bright spots (the onion rings and ranch were excellent), but overall the meal fell short of expectations. Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich - This was the biggest disappointment. The chicken breast was extremely thick and had a grainy texture that made me wonder if it was chicken breast with rib meat. If that's the case, it gives the impression that quality isn't a priority. The breading also fell off with almost every bite, and the sandwich wasn't well proportioned (one oversized tomato slice that wasn't cut evenly). Most importantly, it didn't taste like Nashville hot at all -- more like "Nashville not." Shrimp Po' Boy - Below average. The shrimp had a slightly fishy taste, and the bread didn't resemble proper po' boy bread. The greens were a spring mix, which felt like an odd choice. Traditional shredded lettuce would have worked much better. I've had po' boys in Louisiana, and while I wasn't expecting complete authenticity, I was expecting something closer to the spirit of the dish. This version missed the mark. Smash Burger - Probably the best of the three mains we ordered, but still just average. I've honestly had better smash burgers at chains like Shake Shack. Sides: The fries were great. We ordered the beer cheese sauce, which was fine but not necessary. The onion rings were the standout -- perfectly crispy with a clean bite. The homemade ranch served with them was excellent. Overall, I really wanted to like this place more, but the food didn't deliver enough for me to return.
