This place claims "best burger" Pffft! My mom and I went here because she has had people tell her "it's the best their burgers are great"...so we decided to give it a try. We both ordered the little cheeseburger and shared an order of fries. My mom ordered hers with mayo, onions, lettuce and pickles...not too difficult? Well they didn't get the order right, she ended up with bacon and ketchup, so I went with receipt in hand to exchange it for her. The guy brings it over and they didn't get it right for the second time! Keep in the restaurant was half capacity at best with 6-7 employees working and no line. My mom was over having to correct them again so we ate. Not at all what we were expecting...I know we ordered the "little cheeseburgers" but we weren't expecting them to be smaller than the ones they serve at McDonalds! And to make it even worse was that they cost $4 each! For something that cost $4 it should not have been that small...i'm curious at what the $5 regular one looks like. That's crazy. My bun was hard, and my mom didn't even get what she wanted...and it is by far one of the worst places I've ever eaten...and to make matters and our experience even worse....the dipshit sitting next to us telling, or rather raving to his family "I CAN'T WAIT FOR YOU GUYS TO GET YOUR BURGERS! Too Expensive I like Five Guys. Its a good burger joint. Hot juicy burgers, and with pretty decent fries. However, I have had ranch beef and must compare the two (when I say ranch beef I mean beef straight from the ranch and is butchered locally). I used to get 1/2 a cow that comes flash frozen. OMG. So juicy. So perfectly fresh. It actually melts-in-your-mouth. Nothing on earth like ranch beef. Now THAT makes an amaaaaazing burger. I really think if someone in town actually decided to grind fresh everyday they would put all other burger places out of business. Still haven't figured out why this hasn't happened. Hey, Nebraska is like, right there. Lots of pretty cows all yummy to eat. Oh well, I will dream. I think Wendy's has a great burger in comparison (waiting for someone to throw a tomato my way). There are two things to consider: 1. All Wendy's are not created equal and the ones in Fort Collins are above-par in comparison to others around the country. And 2. IF you factor in price - and since I'm not a millionaire I have to (sorry single foodie men: single, great cook, WAAAAAY attractive - but, alas, poor as a churchmouse), Wendy's is just as good as Five Guys. Just moved to Ft Collins and was suprised to have a Five Guys nearby. We accidently ordered at the other location and they accomodated us extremely well. We ordered 2 burgers 2 fries and it came out instantly and FRESH! Fries were the shizzle NOT at all greasy. Crisp with great texture. Burgers were solid but an artisan bun would have put it over the top. This was also at closing time which made it much more impressive. read more

I will give this place one star based solely on the fries were hot and decent (not great). The burger was horrible. It was completely bland and tasteless. This was a real disappointment. Bun so mushy it fell apart. Grilled mushrooms were really slightly heated canned mushrooms - not grilled at all. Grilled onions were small chunks of onions that looked and tasted like they were steamed. Only the tomato and lettuce tasted good, but that is not what I am satisfied with when I go out for burgers - know what I mean? Fries in a large cup for $6 - never again. On top of their menu is burger. Four or so items lower is little burger. I wanted a burger, so I ordered a burger. When our order came up, it had a bag to eat in with double burgers - double meat patties. Tossed one patty. After taking a few bites of the sandwich, I only ate the lettuce and tomato and threw the rest away. To the managers credit, he did give us a refund for the difference between the single and double burger. He said people are often confused. So why don't they change the menu board? Would it be so difficult to call it a double burger and a single burger? C'mon. The employees were great. The food was awful. I won't be back. read more

Now I know why it's called Five Guys - because they charge you as much as it costs to feed five guys when ordering for just one. I added bacon and cheese upgrades, regular fries, and a drink. My total came out to 15 dollars...15 dollars! They hype up the whole fresh potato thing similar to places like In-N-Out, but thickly cut, non-double-fried fries quickly go flaccid and really lack in crispy deliciousness. They proclaim how awesome they are all over their walls but notably the last compliment received publicly was 2012 and for good reason. The restaurant was dirty. No one was bussing tables and wiping down used tables. It was cold in the restaurant likely because of the walls of glass, pretty to see outside but necessary to turn on the heat. The fries were expensive and had a strong unpleasant after taste. The burger I ordered was without cheese and wrapped in lettuce, I ordered grilled onions and mushrooms on it...it was tasty but kinda oiley. I was hoping for a shake but they only serve soda. There are several competitors in town that serve a better burger, fries and shake, with better atmosphere. read more

I was really torn between giving Five Guy's 2 or 3 stars. Let's start with the food: The fries were amazing, the last couple of times a went there were just to share a bag fries with my kids. The burgers? Incredibly overrated. The price? I would give them ZERO stars if I could on price. Service was worth 4 stars and the restaurant itself was worth 3 stars. Just so you know where I'm coming from, I grew up in Orange County Ca., eating double doubles from In-N-Out. The pinnacle of a great burger. And while the fries are better than In-N-Outs, the burgers don't even come close. What really drags down Five guy's rating are the prices. The first time I went in there with my wife and two kids, we ordered 4 little cheeseburgers with two fries and the bill came to $35! That same order at In-N-Out for a far superior burger is under 15 bucks! Don't get me wrong, the burgers aren't what I would call bad and they do give you lots of toppings choices. No doubt, they still beat the hell out of McDonalds, Burger King, etc., which to me are practically in-eatable. They should also consider putting a stop to wrapping the burgers in foil. It makes the bun soggy and doughy. I will continue to go there to get their cajun fries which are the bomb, but not for the burgers. Absolute Rip Off. Unfortunately, I cannot give less than a one star review, which is generous for this "restaurant". This was my first visit to 5 Guys. Borderline stale bread, barely ripe tomatoes (still green in the center and whitish pale pink flesh, soggy lettuce, dry meat. In an effort to expedite the order, the meat was pressed and squeezed with impressive motivation by the cook. Every bit of moisture was squeezed and pressed out of the meat. As for the fries, a simple "large drink" cup was filled with overtly salty French fries bits and ends. So I guess I had to contend with the bottom of the pan. When I brought up the disappointing quantity of fries for the price. Apparently there is supposed to be a big "top off" on top of it. Well, the big "top off" was about 5 to 7 wrinkled poor excuse for fries. They might want to reevaluate their definition of "big top off". To be fair, this is fast food. Let's remember that we are talking Burgers and French Fries, not necessarily "Gastronomy". Let's no get lost in marketing schemes or publicity jingles. Burgers and fries are fast food. It'd be like saying "ultra high performance clunker", no matter what superlative you use, it's still a clunker. This is fast food. Nothing wrong with it being fast food. Fast food has its place, and my expectations when I walked in there was that I was walking in a burger joint. The expectations were no very high, and were not met. What compounded the problem was the answer given by Bonnie the "Manager" when I brought up the disappointing amount of fries for the price. At that time, i didn't even have a chance to look at the burger yet. I was told: "It Is what it is, there is nothing I can do about it". Not what I call "keeping the lines of communication open". So bringing up the dismal state of the burger would not have made that big of a difference. Sad to say that, I'm almost convinced a microwaveable burger would have had better texture and taste. I am visiting from Orange County, CA and a few of these burger places have popped up there but I have yet to try them. This location was a short walk from where I'm staying so I thought I'd give it a try. While it is a good burger, it's not "the best" IMHO. Not to sound like a homer, but In N Out's burger is far better and inexpensive. I do like 5 guys' french fries better than In N Out's. I would say 5 Guys is more akin to the Habit, Fatburger, or Fudrucker's. 5 Guys is worth a try! It's not bad. read more

Probably the best fast food burger I ever had. Please don't compare this to the local places in Fort Collins; this is a chain, and shouldn't be compared to them. Regardless, the burgers are juicy, delicious, and when you order them "all the way," just dripping with sloppy goodness. Pretty cool that you can get grilled veggies on your burger, too. The fries are fresh cut and cooked just right for me. I like ordering them "cajun style." Another plus? Free peanuts! These guys are OK they are a Close second for me for a burger "on the quick" I'm not a fan of 2 little burgers as opposed to 1 big burger. It's just a bit messy. Ate at the one near the Super Target out on Harmony. I'll do my standard list of positives and negatives. Negatives ------------- -Incredibly loud music playing. -Employees yelling to each other and yelling, "one in the door", "two in the door". Annoying to customers.... you could see the expressions on people's faces as they were eating. It may be amusing to the employess, but seriously, nobody eating likes to hear that. - Regular fries, not the Cajun ones, were bland. - Paid over $17 for two people. - Burgers were just okay. Not super great. You can get a good burger at Red Robbin that tastes better. Heck, even Wendy's tastes better or the same. I'm not trying to be mean here, but for the price, I expected something to wow me and it didn't. I will not return here for this price and so-so caliber of food. Positives ------------ -Employees had good attitude. -Place was clean -Nice selection of drinks -Items on burger were of fresh quality -Bun was fresh -Meat was good thickness, just no flavor. Nobody had colds either as we both agreed that the burger meat seemed bland. Sometimes when you have a cold, you can't taste things as well. Conclusion --------------- Will we return?
