This was the second time I've tried this place out. The first time, it was merely just ok. The second time, I actually got sick after eating their burger. It is a bit pricey for what you are getting...I should have went to In-N-Out. The fries are good but the burger I got was not. First off, my burger fell apart after a couple bites, the burger was so soggy. I could not taste anything and felt as if it was a bit bland. I also found the free peanuts that you get were a good idea, except the box of peanuts were on top of trashcans. I really have no idea how this place is so highly raved. I'll sum it up quickly...Overrated, Overpriced, Overfull, Underflavored, and way under expectations. I ate at this place yesterday. The first thing I did when I got home was post a status update on Facebook warning all my friends to avoid this place like the plague. Now I'm on Yelp warning everyone else. The burgers are good, but the problem is that there are like five other places that give you better burgers for the same price or less. To name a few in the Riverpark area: In n Out, Claim Jumper, and as much as I hate to say it, Red Robin (The latter two come with fries included in the price). A regular burger at Five Guys starts at the price of 5 bucks and change, and only goes up from there. Then you pay for the fries and the drink as well. My order was around 11 bucks for a cheeseburger, small fries, and a small drink. Now, the worst offense here was the fries. They were so limp. It was horrible. I had three fries. Then I couldn't do it anymore. My friend gave up on them too. I found myself eating peanuts instead of fries. And free peanuts, woopdie-doo. If you like them that much, go buy them in bulk, or go to Logan's where you can throw the shells on the ground. All in all, I cant give it a 1 star because the burger was okay. So, I thought that I would splurge on some good burgers and fries (reading the rave from friends). Yeah, we went on a Friday evening (8-20-10) and it was hell of busy, so I understand waiting in line to order and finding a table. My first complaint is that the order taker didn't ask if we had ever been there, so as to familiarize us on how their ordering process works and the like. It would have been nice to let us know before we ordered, that ice machine was slow making the ice and was completely out of ice. Therefore Mister Customer you will have to suffer and drink a warm soda. After we ordered our food was when we found out about the missing ice. All we got was a short, quick sorry and basically drink your soda warm and hope that the ice machine makes some before you leave. Second complaint, while we were waiting for our food, we looked for a place to sit, yes, it was hell of busy because it was a Friday night, just after 6:30pm, that is understandable. My hubby asked a gal that was walking around and she said that we would have to fend for ourselves. That is one shitty customer service answer. It should have been, " Sorry, it is our busy time and some tables should be opening up soon." These people have no concept of customer service. Third complaint, the patty had no taste, soggy bun, tasteless onions and mushrooms. Fourth, the fries were so-so, needed some more salt. They were just tossed into the bag, yeah, there two large cups to hold most of the fries but there was alot at the bottom of the bag too. Well after all the hype and hoopla of Five Guys coming to Fresno, my wife and I made over to give it a try. My expectations were high and I was looking for that great burger that leaves you satisfied and content and looking forward to going back. Five Guys was not that burger at all. I had the burger with the works, no lettuce. The meat was very bland, no flavor whatsoever and the bun was soggy and fell apart. I had the regular fries which were good, but not great. Finally decided to give Five Guys a try after hearing so many good things about it. My first impression was how expensive it was, $30 for two cheeseburgers, 2 fries and 2 medium drinks. I assumed the burgers would be huge to justify the price but nope. They were your average sized burger, the bag was filled with fries though. The restaurant itself is nice and well kept but it felt a little cramped, you also have the option to sit outside which is nice. Now on to the food which was amazing! The burgers and fries had this homemade taste that I had never gotten before anywhere else. Was it $30 worth? Not really, which is why I'm giving this place 3 stars. For those who claim that this place is better than In-n-Out Burger are sadly mistaken. I went to the Five Guys place in San Jose at the Plant plaza and trust me I went there with an open mind and taste buds. I was underwhelmed by it's under cooked patty, paper thin hamburger bun and squashed down burger bun in a foil wrap. The bun got so soggy & mangled from the grease & sauce that the bread was next to useless. You may as well have just placed the patties & fixin' on a plate with a knife & fork. Not to mention you have to buy each item separately, $6 burger, $3 fries, $2 drink, add tax and your ok burger meal is over $11 bucks. Damn!!! I'll stick to In-n'-Out Burger for better quality at half the price. Oh yeah and the fries are not even crispy, there soggy seasoned limp fries. Tasty but just noodle like in comparison to a good steak fry or In-n-Out burger fry. My family all agree that we will not be going back there again. Over-priced average burger. this place is pretty good...a very traditional burger with juicy thick patties and thick slices of cheese with crisp juicy pickles, tomatoes and grilled onions, lettuce and mayo...and those were just my personal choice of toppings...toppings are unlimited and theyre all free..theres mushrooms, grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, reg onions, ketchup, mustard and other stuff i cant recall u get free peanuts while your waiting...theres a box and ur more than welcome to go schoop some up yourself to bring back to the table...i ordered the regular cheeseburger which was HUGE..and i guess theres a "small" burger option i didnt see...but thats ok..it was delicious none the less. now the fries.....i cant say im a big fan of the fries...i got the regular and my boyfriend got the cajun style..and i think i prefer the cajun over regular which just has this red seasoning salt on it...be warned when ordering regular size fries..u get a cup of fries but it looks like they dump 2 cup fulls worth in your bag too along with ur already full cup of fries..i recommend just ordering one and sharing as there is more than enough in your bag! thi splace is pretty packed so i recommend going early read more

Decided to give this place a chance since it's reputed to be the east coast's version of In-N-Out. That comparison is a mystery to me - it's not even close. Atmosphere: Meh BURGER: I ordered the Little Cheeseburger and the meat itself was fine, better than I expected, but just fine. Note that the normal burgers consist of two "little" patties - it's HUGE!! Now the cheese, I really had a problem with. It was hardly melted at all and to make it worse, it looked like a processed single slice and was totally unappetizing. The bun is mushy. I was not a fan. FRIES: Got the Five Guys Style fries and they were not great. A lot of them were soggy and they filled the bottom of our bag with extra fries. It was as if they put three regular sized fry containers in the bag and then poured a shit load of fries in there. So much for portion control... They have free peanuts sitting by the soda machine.
