And yes, dodging all the folks roaming the mall without putting their blinkers on or aware of 'flows of traffic' may hinder you, but it's all worth it to eat a Philly Cheesesteak at Charley's Grilled Subs. The Food Court at Fashion Fair Mall is a noisy, loud, experience. The lack of acoustical elements in this section just make the noise worse but in that 'war zone' lays a prize for those brave enough to make it to the counter. I must have had 7 of these now and they never disappoint. Since I don't do the fries here, or a drink, I figure I can make a mess of my Philly and boy do I. I've tried them everywhere else and none compare. I found the staff to be very pleasant. I arrived during lunch time and it was somewhat busy. Being located in the mall I kind of expected it. I was greeted immediately by a very nice employee who offered me a sample. To be honest every employee I came across was wearing a smile! Now I don't know much about cheese steaks but I found out right away! I also ordered the loaded French fries. The sandwich really stood out. Steak meat with grilled mushrooms, onions & bell peppers smothered with provolone cheese on French bread! Yep that sandwich was FIRE! And for the readers that are unaware of the lingo...FIRE means really tasty! Lol! For being a food court restaurant they showed great pride in their customer service and food. The hiring manager needs to reevaluate the strategies used to hire their current staff. Every single person I encountered was very rude. I was the only customer and it was not a busy time. I ordered a simple order and did not ask them any questions. Very easy transaction. I do not understand what could possibly make them so rude and explain their attitudes towards a paying customer. They need to be taught how to relieve their personal unhappiness in a healthier manner. This poor behavior was displayed in the food as well. read more

I love Charley's the cooks were great the food amazing as always but today on my lunch the cashier Destiny was very unpleasant. She had an attitude when I approached her, i ordered calmly and she miss heard my entire order. She got my lemonade wrong I said it's ok and didn't get my cheese fries, I didn't appreciate the attitude. I'm a very cheerful person and she was not pleasant to work with she rolled her eyes at me and did not apologize. I ordered the California chicken, was nice and well cooked. The bread is the same for all, nice and soft. The toppings are pretty plain but come along together great. The chicken is so finely chopped that it's really easy to eat. The sub pretty much melts in your mouth. Great place to grab on the go and their peach drink is really good. Their refills are free on the soft drinks not their specialty things though. It's rough getting seating but they also have an area outside which should be nice as it get warmer. You know what's great? Samples. You go to Trader Joe's and off in the back someone with an apron has a hot plate and they're making tiny portions of something. It's like appetizers for shopping. Lots of grocery stores used to do this, but I see it less and less. Heck, I remember that it was your right as a kid to have a free cookie when Mom did her weekly shopping at Lucky's or Alpha Beta. They don't really have a whole lot of free samples at the Mall. Unless you count cologne or perfume (and I don't). Even the Hickory Farms at Fashion Fair wasn't passing out little heated nibblets of summer sausage. (And if it's called summer sausage, why does Hickory Farms pitch it as the perfect Christmas gift?) Anyway, I wandered through the food court and some guy thrusts out a plate of little sandwich bits speared with toothpicks. The sample chicken sub was mighty tasty. I think that might have been because it was some sandwich idea he was working on that involved chicken, ranch dressing, cheese, and something else with a lot of fat. I decided to have a chicken club sandwich and continued the happy feeling through lunch. I have to admit, I'm concerned about the "gourmet" fries. Great steak sandwiches, I order the deluxe minus green pepper add jalapeno. The fries are also cook well crispy outside soft inside. Only draw back are the counter staff.
