If you want something in between; pretty good and fairly quick, 5 guys is always a solid choice. The patties are thick and only cooked after you order. Don't expect to be able to request a temperature, you get medium well/well done. It's not that fancy of a place. The fries decent, I like them anyways. They are usually on the greasy side, a handful is good for me. They fill whatever size cup (fries come in a cup) and then throw another scoop in the bag. Nice if you like extra fries. I love this place for a quick bite to eat. The toppings are fresh and complimentary to the burgers. One big plus is the fries! I always order a small and they give you a very full cup and basically another cup "spilled" in the bag. Great food for a chain! read more

We decided to give Five Guys a try since we had never been and we were right by it in town and we weren't disappointed, in so many ways, Five Guys is like an old burger joint, the burgers are great and grilled really nicely, the fries are a little low on the salt side but you can actually tell they're real potatoes. I teetered on a 3 or 4 star rating and I'm leaning more towards the four star rating. Reasons for a 4 star rating: Food is great, be sure to get the burger with two patties or you may find yourself leaving unsatisfied. One order of fries is plenty enough to share. Cajun fries are OK, but too salty. I'd stick with the regular fries. A bunch of toppings to choose from at no additional cost. Reason for a potential 3 star rating: Way too expensive for a burger and fries place. I'm sad that I was disappointed. The food is just okay. While I appreciated the topping options the burger was underwhelming and certainly not worth the price. The decor is extraordinarily off putting. I felt like I was sitting in a Frisch's bathroom the whole time. The best fast food burgers in Lexington! The prices are a tad high for fast food, but you do get a higher quality meal for the little extra money. You'll pay a couple dollars more than you would at a Wendy's or McDonalds, but you can taste the difference. Service is also just a tad slower than other burger joints, but it's because things are made-to-order, not sitting around under a heat lamp all afternoon. They have a long list of toppings you can get on a burger, you can customize your burger just about however you want. If you (or your kids) would rather have hot dogs, they have those too, but burgers, hot dogs and fries is all they have on the menu (they do only a few things, but they do them VERY well). The dining room is a little spartan, to be sure, but you're there for good burgers, not flashy ambiance. The fries are great. Real fries made from real potatoes (and a gimmick of having a sign saying where today's fries were grown), and ample portions of those fries. When you order fries, you'll get what you pay for. I was tempted to call this a 5 star place, but ultimately it is a fast food place, and isn't to the same five-star standards as a fine dining restaurant, but just among fast food this would be five stars easily. Very disappointed in Five Guys on Nicholasville Rd. Took the wife and kids about 6 weeks ago. The fries were undercooked and nasty and one burger was so burnt it was unedible. My daughter then asked if we could go next door to McDonalds for a burger. Ugh! There is no kids menu so for myself, the wife and children and the bill was a steep $50. This is a burger place with no alcohol... that's right $50. I called and emailed both local mgt and national corporation but never received any response whatsoever. Hey, that's ok... if they don't want to respond its no issue for me. I'll take my $50 elsewhere for lunch and make sure I leave reviews so others don't fall into the same pit. read more

Culver's comes close, but FG gives much more bang for the buck, and in the end it wins on taste too. Getting to choose toppings at no extra charge is icing on the cake. I really want to like Five Guys. Really. But I've been rather disappointed in my four or five meals at the Lexington location since they opened a year or so ago. I've eaten at Five Burgers up and down the east coast, and the Lexington location seems to have more to learn. My usual order (small [one pattie] cheeseburger with regular fries and drink) comes to $8.77--a premium price for what is essentially fast food. The regular french fry serving is easily enough for three people, and they're flavorful, but they're also limp and consistently undercooked. The burgers are so-so even though they're individually prepared. Here's hoping the Lexington location will improve with age. read more

The service was fast and friendly. The inside of the restaurant was freezing cold, so the outside dining area was a welcome retreat. We enjoyed a great, fast burger, fixed exactly the way we ordered, and Cajun fries (that had a little too much Cajun seasoning for my liking). Mmm... you get a lot for a regular and the 'cajun' order just means they sprinkle some cajun seasoning on it - not that exciting. One of the best burger places in Lexington. The burgers were juicy, with a huge choice of toppings, fries are always overflowing in the bag. It is a fairly casual restaurant. You stand in line, place your order, pick up your food when called, and can get a free tray of peanuts which you can snack on and most people will throw the shells on the ground. Fries are good. Burgers are very good. All for a pretty good price too. You can get a junior burger for cheaper which has one patty or the regular which has two. I always love coming to this place! read more

So good...I want a burger just thinking about it. In short, you are paying for the real deal. Not random McDonald's or other fast food burgers. It may take a bit longer since they are actually cooking the thing fresh. The taste is wonderful and you can have as many toppings as you want. Also fries galore. I've been saying for 2 years now that I'd like to try Five Guys, everybody was raving about it including our president. (Obama) I finally tried it yesterday and I definitely want disappointed! The burgers are great, and their BBQ sauce is to die for. Their fries are very unique, you can tell they're from fresh cut potatoes. I visit this location regularly. I have to eat gluten free and they do a nice job. French fries are incredible and service in my opinion is great for a bunch of kids. They treat you right. Only complaint is the temperature. It is hard to find a nice warm seat, air conditoning is always blasting which makes seats cold, food get cold quickly. BTW, seats are very uncomfortable. I have heard SO MUCH hype about this place, so while driving around Lexington looking for shelter from a rainstorm, my boyfriend and I decided to stop in. The burgers were certainly good, as were the fries, but I wouldn't say they were awesome, and certainly not the best I've ever had by a long shot. I can think of two places off the top of my head that have a better burger than this. However, for a chain restaurant that is really just a teensy step up from a drive-thru, the food is good. It was a little pricey, and the atmosphere was pitiful. The whole place is done up in red and white, with faux-wood chairs that are actually metal. Five Guys is not 'fast food' speed, but it's pretty close. The quality is far above any similarly priced burger and fries. I got a water, regular fries, and a cheeseburger for under $8.00. I like the wide variety of toppings, which are all available for no additional charge. I like the bags of potatoes used as decor. No frills, but the food speaks for itself.
