I debated not getting a roll suspecting it would be one of the super cheap burger buns, but I just ordered it as is; I was very glad I did. It was made fresh to order in about 8 minutes. When it came out, it was presented open faced on a nicely toasted junior kaiser roll with a good amount of tasty pizza sauce, a load of gooey provolone, and cup & char pepperoni atop the burger, which was a decent size. Everything worked well together and it was like a tasty, meaty, easily handheld piece of pizza. The service was friendly. I'm a massive fan of all forms of hot dogs, whether it's standard fare like Ted's, or bizarre concoctions like Zunzi in Savannah, Georgia. Frank Gourmet just falls short for me. I understand that it's making very interesting combinations and it's trying to offer dogs from all over the country. But the LA street dog (wrapped in bacon) tastes nothing like the LA dogs (not even one tenth as good, not even close), and the others have a similar story. I guess I am spoiled. You'd be better spending your money at one of the other downtown food carts, although if you fancy a hot dog there isn't really anything horribly wrong with these dogs either. It's better than Lloyd's Taco Truck. But then that's not saying much.
