First time in like 30 years. It's still the same place but now with the addition of kiosks where you can order and pay for your food. The footlong hotdogs with great. You can pick the doneness you like. Lots of great toppings. Also had the cheese fries with bacon. Lots of family's come here. The place was busy at 1pm all the tables were maxed out. After my last visit I decided to take the survey. Why? Because I want Ted's to succeed and please every customer. I've always loved this place. Last time, they needed some improvement. First of all, we waited way too long for our food. I'm not a fast food logistics person, but please! The grill person was slower than most and wasn't putting enough meat on the grill to keep up. I wouldn't be surprised if someone got soggy fries or onion rings waiting for the hot dogs. The person who handles the fried food puts all the orders in too early. Anyway, like I said, I only want my fries to be hot and crispy. Second of all, the 'foot long' didn't look very good. Usually I can't wait to snap a photo or two of our food, but not this time. The hot dog didn't look appetizing. It was a sloppy arranged bun and dog with a skimpy amount of toppings. Overall, it looked messy. The final issue was the cleanliness of the dining room. Every table by the window was dirty. I sat at one of them anyway. I believe every Yelper knows why :). Of course I noticed the new design of the placemat and the fry containers, cute. Whenever I'm home in Buffalo, a stop at Ted's Hot Dogs is a must because it's a hometown classic! This time around, my mom and I went to the Williamsville location after a trip to nearby Hobby Lobby and as usual, it hit the spot. Despite the name, I almost always get a hamburger (please don't judge), plus a side of onion rings, which are thin, crispy, and honestly quite addictive. My mom went with a brat, which she seemed to enjoy as well. The restaurant was clean and well run but the wait was pretty long, which is typical around dinnertime. Let's talk about Ted's. From what I was told, this is a Buffalo staple, but I don't think I fully realized what kind of staple restaurant I was stepping into. When I walked in, the place was fairly empty. The associates were friendly enough and helped me navigate the menu by recommending some of the classics. To be honest I didn't know going in what I was ordering...someone just said order a footlong with everything on it and 1/2 fries 1/2 onion rings. So that's what I did! Let me tell you it was about the best hot dog I had ever had! My husband and I split the footlong and split the fries and onion rings and then he went back and ordered another footlong with everything on it! It was delicious! I used to like Ted's but I don't like them as much anymore. I think the staff is still fabulous but the food isn't wowing me, personally. I always opt for a grilled chicken sandwich and fries but everything off the menu is tasty, they even have a half and half onion rings and fries for those who can't decide. The service is order at the grill, pay and sit down. Depending on what time of day you go it can get busy with two lines out the door but the staff usually keeps things moving pretty quickly. A unique menu item? The loganberry milkshake, something I treat myself to every once in a while. Loved Teds for lunch. Quick and easy. But after visiting for lunch recently with the new kiosk, won't be back. What a shame.

The last two times i've been to this location have been on my 35 minute break from work, (I work almost directly across the street) and both times service has been notable. The first time I was in line my entire break which is no one's fault, it was lunch hour so there was nothing wrong but while the people behind the stand were preparing my food I had to leave so I could clock back in. My 2nd time there was rough. Again I was on break this time at 9 P.M. with probably only two other people who ordered while I was there. I ordered my food on the mobile Kiosk and I was asked to grab a pager, there was only one. The group who ordered after me never got a pager so they had to wait about 20 minutes for their order. I ordered fries, a foot long hot dog, and a milkshake which are always delicious. I have never once had a problem with the food but it took me about 20 minutes to get the fries and foot long. I didn't receive my shake until after I was finished eating when I went up to the counter and asked for it. The workers seemed to have forgot about it because with 5 minutes left of my break I received my shake which was just sitting on the counter in the tin cup for about 15 minutes on my way out the door, and it was a little warm. The workers were very nice and understanding but service is very spotty. The food does almost make up for it. read more

We went here a few weeks ago. There was no indoor seating and they had a great set up. Your lined up to place your order and waited. Thwey took your cell number and text you when your order was coming out. Sitting outside was not as easy. It was very limited but we chose not to take a table while we waited as there were others ahead of us and asked them if they were taking their food. We did this so it would be first serve first seat. Some others were not so nice and took a table before even ordering. This is in no reflection of the restaurant. Plus the employees didn't get a chance to clean it so they had to get up but hovered until it was. Of course that was the last table. As we got our food as did the other couple we opened the back of our suv and ate outside and enjoyed our food and had a nice conversation with them as they were parked next to us. If you are familiar with Ted's... it's changed. Ordering your hot dog is done at the cashier station and she's asks what condiments you want. You receive a beeper. Your order gets to you through a pass through window into the dining area. There are no heat lamps. Timing is an issue. The fries and onion rings were cold. Meanwhile dining in is very annoying hearing beeper after beeper. The hot dog was warm but the sides were cold. There was no Loganberry and the cashier didn't know when she took our order and money. I don't want to go there any longer. I have been going since I was a child over 50 years. Prepare to be disappointed. read more

Sadly...Ted's has come to an end of a beautiful era. It was always fun & exciting to wait in the line, give your order to the cook and watch your food be prepared. Then being asked for a drink... a loganberry perhaps. Now they have kiosks that don't work. An employee takes your order( like so many other fast food stores) you pay w/ a card, handed a buzzer and told to wait someone in the restaurant. I instead stood and watched the preparation ( everyone else scattered). No watched the process and it was just chaotic. The order took so much longer. I understand that no one wants to work anymore but this is inefficient and depressing. 90% of going to Ted's was the experience. This was a punch in the face. All we have now is Louie's. I am not a hot dog gal, I would never really go out of my way to get one and probably eat one a year... so what actually brought me here is the endless stream of buffalonians telling me that their onion rings are the BOMB and that if you haven't been, you haven't been to buffalo (oops). So there I was with 3 hungry friends who wanted a dog, and I wanted the rings... problem solved with a Ted's trip! 3/4 of us had never been!! I am that person who went to Ted's and still did not get the hot dog... but wow the onion rings did not disappoint! They came out fresh and crispy with the perfect battered outside with Tons of flavour! Highly recommend! One size for like $4.70 I think Fries were also very good! Thin and fresh potato flavour and not too greasy! I trust my friends when they say the dogs where cooked perfectly, the char was just right and the toppings delicious! Well congratulations Ted's. You did it. You managed to remove the iconic joy from this local fare. I have so many complaints... 1) THE LINE. It is 2023, having to hang out in the cattle call to tell someone my toppings & to pay is so 20th Century. They had a kid taking the orders on an iPad at the end of the line, which was great, so that way once you get up to pay, your food is ready. But he couldn't take payment on the iPad & everyone still had to stand around. I can't imagine having to wait longer, in that line. No thank you. Get that kid a square on his iPad, & start a number system to either bring food to tables, or call a number for the diner to go up & get their food when ready. Consider the efficiency & customer service behind a number system. 2. THE PRICES. You will be committing to a $15-$20 (minimum) meal if you want all components - main, side, & drink. The chicken sandwich was over $8 alone. The onion rings were $6. The DRINK was at least $3, but $4 if you are thirsty. No refills. If you want certain toppings on your food, you're looking at $1 more per topping. How is this acceptable?? Could have gone next door to BK for a full chicken sandwich meal, for $8-10 total. 3. THE FOOD. Nothing special. Ted's used to be special. That charcoal grilled hot dog experience was delicious & nostalgic. The buns they are currently using are terrible. They crumble, have a dry texture, just not good. The chicken was the same as it was when I was 8 years old & would eat here. No change, still pretty plain & nothing special. My biggest beef is with the onion rings! Somehow, again, they managed to ruin perfection. Seems to me that they added cornmeal to the batter, so it bulks up the breading, allowing them to give you less but make it look like more. And again, for what you pay, this is all just acceptable. Acceptable only is not the Ted's I've always known. 4) THE NAPKINS. Stiff, non-absorbent, feels like craft paper. Doesn't help with ketchup clean up - just spreads the mess. Really sad about writing this review. Stopped in at about 8pm on a Wednesday. Went right to the line. A customer came up to us and told us we were cutting and the line started behind him, which was 10 feet from the line queued by the grill. Apparently an employee of Ted's was supposed to take out order there, and then we could enter the line by the grill. The employee stood at the door, not directing anyone and me and 4 other people waited by the door for an employee to take out order. After about 5 minutes, the employee answered her phone and apparently her dad was there to pick her up and she left. Then we were waiting with no direction. Other customers came in and also entered the line by the grill but the customer who accosted us, didn't go after them. I was not aware of the new ordering system and the employees were all over the place with no plan. No one was taking over the ordering by the door. We walked out. They lost business..
