5 Guys is a solid quick food option and they have their method pretty much on point. Reviews that include Uber eats etc. shouldn't count. A cold burger for example is not possible in-restaurant as it is cooked to order. It's not 5 Guys fault if you are missing a burger but were too lazy to go yourself. read more

Great food!! It is a tad bit pricey to go to all the time. However when we do go it never dissapoints.

Heard a lot about this chain from American friends and was excited to hear that they were opening a location in London. I was told that the location's been open for a week and a half. To start with, the restaurant looks great. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by bags of potatoes and a sign that advertises where they're from (somewhere in P.E.I if you're curious). There's lots of seating and it has a nice retro feel. The ordering process wasn't too complicated besides a bit of the terminology ("burger" = two patties, "little burger"= one patty). They don't do "combos" as the fry portions are big enough to split and the drinks are refillable. Getting a few little burgers, a regular portion of fries and a small drink was MORE than enough for two people. The burger was solid. They were the right thickness, allowing some great char from the flattop. The free toppings included some great tasting options like grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. I'd compare the burger to a place like London classic Prince Albert's. They also did the same toppings on their grilled cheeses, something that I don't normally see offered. The fries were awesome. They reminded me a bit of New York Fries with more depth of flavour. Our small fry portion was extremely generous, I actually think there were as many fries in our bag as in our cup. Apparently this is a thing. Ask for them to be "cajun" if you want the full Five Guys experience. I don't normally write about fountain pop but I must say that the Coke Zero at this place was some of the best I've ever tasted. I have no idea if they do something special there. Overall, a great place that South London sorely needs. Ignore the Harveys/DQ/McDonalds/etc in the area and try this out! You won't be disappointed. Edit: I'm looking at the other reviews to see it's not getting love from a vegetarian, someone who doesn't like American Cheese on a Cheeseburger (!!!) and someone concerned about grease/menu options. I can't begin to describe how disappointed I am with this place. I was so excited about a burger joint opening up near my work so that I could have a good lunch option when the need for a real burger hit me. (fast food joints don't count) But it turns out this place is all hype and no substance. The beef is fresh which is great but it has no flavoring or spices. And that wouldn't be the end of the world but in addition the quality of the toppings is very sub par. I realize this is an American chain but they must shipping up that horrible American "processed cheese" to put on these burgers. The buns are clearly not fresh and look like they've come out of a deep freeze. And the bacon is very low quality if it is really bacon at all. The fries are very tasty though but as mentioned in other reviews you should never order the larger size as the regular size is enough to share with 2-3 people. All of the problems above could be managed by avoiding the toppings that are poor and keeping the burger simple but the prices they are charging are just not competitive. You can easily go into many different burger joints in town and sit down and order a burger off a menu and have it brought to you for the same price. And you'll get about 20-30 topping choices so that you can build your burger in whatever wonderful creative way your heart desire at no extra cost. For the four of us who went for dinner one night we ended up spending $47. That much money for a place that has the same atmosphere as a fast food joint and food that may be fresher/healthier but isn't as tasty is horrible value. read more

The cheese does make a burger and American processed "cheese" is certainly not what this reviewer likes. I wouldn't say it ruined the burger, but I'm glad I had bacon and grilled mushrooms to add a punch of flavour. At least the ones that managed to remain in the bun. The double patty (the 'regular") is very massive but, even with a "are you sure?" check from the counter girl, I was up for the challenge. The fries are great and I love how they scoop extra into the bag so the regular size is perfect for sharing. I don't eat meat so I can't comment on the burger, but they do have a "veggie sandwich" that turned out to essentially be a burger without the patty. The American cheese they put on it totally killed it for me...I find that processed crap nauseating and didn't even finish half my sandwich. Plus, without some kind of patty, it just felt really lacking. Why not add a veggie patty option to the menu? And use a decent cheese like cheddar? For the price it doesn't seem worth it. On the plus side, their cajun fries are great. I'll probably stop by to grab some if I get froyo next door at Menchie's, but I'll pass on the veggie sandwich. read more

I visited for lunch on labour day. I had been there before when it first opened and was impressed with the fries, less so with the burgers, although the assortment of toppings was impressive. This time around, two cheeseburgers, two drinks and one small fries was in around $25, which is fine if it is good. However, service was quite slow even though there were only 8-10 customers in the place. I watched the cook flatten my burger, squeezing out all the moisture to make it cook faster. Next, processed cheese. For the price, real cheese isn't too much to ask. Finally, the fries we greasy and not crisp, like the oil wasn't hot enough or something. The upshot? Five guys is ok, but nothing special and certainly not worth the cost differential relative to other burger chains. read more

The burgers are okay, the fries are okay and the decor and service is okay. Went to Five Guys for the first time earlier today and must say, it was one of the best restaurant burgers I have had in quite sometime. I ordered the Bacon Double Cheeseburger and although it was a little pricy at roughly $10 after tax, it was quite filling. Definitely worth the extra cost. I will agree that the burgers and fries served by Five Guys are delicious, but they're way too overpriced in my opinion. I've been here several times, and trust me, I enjoy the food very much but I just wish the prices could be lowered. They offer outdoor seating which is nice :) But it's hard to have a conversation with friends when busy Wellington Road is 200 metres away :P There's also lots of indoor seating. Average. The girl at the counter was definitely not friendly and the menu is very straight forward: Burgers, Fries, and Hot Dogs. Overall I enjoyed the concept and the interior/exterior but I would not make a special trip to go here. The fries are homemade but nothing special, I have "had those before" I Actually prefer Burgers at other Franchise restaurants, they are good but have more of a feel of going to a friends for a BBQ hamburger with the toppings. EXPENSIVE - Should be $$$$ ($20 a person, or a logical order, is ridiculous on a build-a-menu system). No BBQ Sauce - They praise their simple menu but screwed up my order. Am I supposed to give back my food after I went on the 401 and had taken a bite out of it? Put some effort in. Patties are TOO thin - Burgers are not worth it. You get more standard toppings in weight than burger (only 2 patties max btw) Extra toppings are non-existent - Ordered onions and mushrooms. They were on the bottom of the burger, were flavourless, and really really thin. These are the same mushrooms you get on a pizza, but smaller and thinner. The onions are the same onions you get in onion fries but MUCH thinner and oiled down. Not worth it. Should also mention they leverage out the thin (under seasoned, overly salted) pattied burger you receive with giving you a large amount of fries (starch) to make you feel full. No thanks, I'd rather have the meat that I paid for and not a salted down mess of oily fries that buries my food. I'm no snob. I wear clothes with holes in them. I heard about 5 guys from friends in the US and decided to give it a shot. Huge tip: order the small fries. First time at this franchise. Heard many good things. This was a holiday time visit so wasn't exactly hungry! Lol. But seriously I was looking forward to the experience. My wife ordered and I got a little burger with lettuce tomatoe ketchup mayonnaise mustard and fried onions. The burger was good but wouldn't say spectacular. I would say that I did enjoy the burger overall especially with the quantity and quality of the condiments. The fries were the most shocking where we ordered a regular size but when we opened the bag there we're fries everywhere on the bottom - I was informed this was their thing ! Fries I thought were dry and not fresh - but I'm not sure this is the case just my taste buds. Finally the coke we had was very good and ice cold just as I like it. I feel my experience was a 3 1/2 star but gave them the benefit of the doubt. The staff was good and helpful .
