No one told me Five Guys Fries and Soda was so expensive. I took it as a learning experience. I was driving almost an hour to attend an event in Seabrook. I needed to take a bathroom break. I asked one guy behind the counter if it required a key. I noticed something very comical. There are 5 guys. They're equally at the same height, kind of short. When I was ready to order, a guy called someone from the kitchen to help. A lady cashier, at the same height, took my order. I couldn't eat anything heavy because the event already included a dinner. I didn't wait very long for my small fries. It came in a bag. I opened up and saw something not quite right. Why couldn't they keep the fries in the cup? The grease soaked the bottom of the bag, because fries were spilled from the cup. So, I had to deal with grease in my car. Grrrrhh. read more

I was really craving a burger after my workout on New Year's Day. I guess that's a good way to start out the new year....healthy workout followed by a yummy, unhealthy burger! Although truthfully, this probably wouldn't be my first place for burgers. Don't get me wrong, they are good, but I don't think they are great. They are huge though, so if you like quantity, this is your place! All of the "regular" burgers are double patties, so keep that in mind when you order. If you want just a single patty, order a Little Hamburger. The choices for condiments is a lot more than typical places, so it's usually easier to just order what you want on the burger. They do charge almost a dollar more for cheese, so keep that in mind. And they do give you a LOT of fries; typically hubby and I just share a regular order and it's plenty. They are typically hot and fresh, so that's a plus. They are fried in peanut oil, so be aware if you have, or know someone who has a peanut allergy. You go in and order at the counter; for some reason, it sits up high and I always feel like a five year old when I order. Yeah, I'm short, but why emphasize it with an extra tall counter? But the people are always friendly and nice, so that's a plus, and something you don't always get at fast food places. They do have free peanuts to munch on while waiting for your burger, so that's kinda cool. But truthfully, this is probably farther down on the places I would go for a burger list; it's a little too expensive for a fast food burger ($6.59 for a cheeseburger), but not quite as good as a restaurant burger. Although they do have a good taste, I just think it's a little expensive for what they are. Free peanuts aren't that much of a draw. Good, but not great. Pretty much between meh and A-OK, but because of the friendly people, I rounded up to A-OK. read more

Food here has been consistently good! The staff is usually friendly and the cooks look happy. Their fries are the best! My most recent order was placed online and I was happy to arrive and my food was ready! The cook waited to fry up my fries until arrived to ensure the best hot fries. It was worth the 2 minute wait. Essentially, if you don't mind spending 2x to 3x for a burger meal you could get somewhere else, Five Guys is okay, and that applies to any location in their chain. To put that value in perspective, you could get a Wendy's Biggie Bag for $5 plus tax, and that includes a double-stack cheeseburger, a small bag of fries, a small order of chicken chunks, AND an 18-oz. drink. Put another way, this evening when I bought from them, it was a cheeseburger, natural fries and a Fanta Orange for $13.84. Yes. Yes, that is a lot of money for those three items. There are a few things that can offset that big number in part, but not entirely. I went for dinner and found a clean dining room. That's a big plus. I suspect if you came by for lunch during the week you'd find a different experience. The toppings look a little fresher than a conventional place like Burger King. That's a plus. The counter service was good. That's a plus. In fact, I really didn't have any major complaints during my stay. The only thing that stung was the nearly $14 price tag. The NASA area used to have a Fuddrucker's hamburgers location just a stone's throw from this Five Guys. Late last year, they suddenly closed. I really miss them now. read more

The cheese on my burger wasn't melted, but the burger was burned, the normally ridiculous amount of fries was contained to the cup, and the guy calling your number to pick up your food is unable to be heard if you are sitting towards the back of the seating area.
