Burger (not pictured) was excellent but I didn't care for the fries or egg rolls (pictured). The cheeseburger eggrolls were mushy and fries tasted like they were cooked in old grease. Staff was just okay. I didn't know the ketchup was self-served and one of the guys almost had an attitude because I asked him to bring some to my table. Also, inside was freezing cold! Decided to come here on a Friday night with my sister and dog because they have a dog-friendly patio. This is my first time at this location, as I've only been to the Montrose location. They were pretty busy with it being Friday night. At around 7:30pm, there were a few groups ahead of me to order at the counter. Since we had the dog, we needed to sit on the patio. It was a colder night, so I kindly asked the employee behind the counter if they could turn on the heaters outside. He told me that they didn't have any propane, but when I asked about that further, he said he'd ask his manager. Upon returning, he told me that the manager would be right out to turn on a heater for us. The manager came out about 10 minutes later and started tinkering with a couple of the heaters. Indeed, no propane, but he finally found one that had propane and kindly lit that one for us and we moved over to be next to it. Props for the effort, but on cold nights like these, they should be prepared with the propane because I saw a few other groups wanting to sit outside but none of the other heaters worked. On Fridays, they have a fish & chips special that includes 4 pieces of fish, a mountain of potato wedges, and tartar sauce all for $14.99. This diverted my original intent of a burger because what are the chances I'll be back on a Friday? I thought this was a great deal, as the fish in itself tasted solid and was very filling; I couldn't even finish the chips and had to bring some home as leftovers. We also ordered a side of onion rings. These were really crispy and perfect for dipping in ketchup. Note their condiment station by the drink station includes ketchup, spicy ketchup, and mustard. To drink, I got a Saloon Door Ridiculous AF beer and it came in a half-pint glass for $4. I was almost expecting a full pint glass, but for the price it makes sense and perhaps the smaller glass size because this was a stout. Overall, Burger Joint is one of the first places that comes to mind when talking burgers in Houston. I can attest to the quality of their burgers from previous experiences at the Montrose location, but definitely don't sleep on the fish & chips if you find yourself here on a Friday. read more

This is actually like my 5th time here but I never get the chance to snap a pic or post a review before inhaling my food. The food here is ALWAYS on point. Super happy I got to try the burger of the month for October: Slash Daddy Angus beef patty, Munster, grilled onions, "slasher sauce", lettuce on a black ink bun! I was very excited to visit the burger joint based on all the great reviews. I left feeling a little underwhelmed. The service was amazing and there was plenty of seating, but I felt that our burgers were just OK. We should shared a classic and a Swiss mushroom burger. Of the two the Swiss burger was our favorite. I can't quite put my finger on what was missing, but they were not as flavorful as I'd hoped for. Sometimes words cannot express! This is truly a goldmine, if you have a vegan diet and would like to enjoy a burger that will have you licking that wrapper here it is. I so appreciate this place that I have passed up so many times, until now. You simply order up when you step in and the food is delivered to your table. I highly recommend the plant based burger and love the fact that they prepared it with both plant based mayo and cheese if you prefer was a bonus. There is also the option for a bean patty as well. My boyfriend and I frequently eat here and he enjoys it more than I do, but today was our final straw. I typically get the BBQ sandwich which is alright, mid at best. They have a $12 meal box that I tried out and the burgers are inedible. The meat quality was so bad I spit it out. My boyfriend's burger order comes with the wrong ingredients frequently. He asked for no toppings with only cheese and got no cheese with all the toppings. It happens all the time. The fries are consistently almost raw and completely soggy. BBQ Burger, $11: Best item we had for lunch. It was large and all the ingredents were good. It is just a nicely put together burger and I would 100% recommend. Mexi, $11: This burger in contrast to the BBQ was just not that good. It seemed dry and I needed to add ketchup to it to even finish eating it. I would not recommend. Queso Fries, $6: Not bad, made with a liquid cheese. They are very heavy but solid cheese fries. Bacon Parm Fries, $7: Pass on these. The bacon was good, but the Garlic Aioli made the dish look greasy. Just seemed that it was covered in oil, so much so I had to ask the server if that was the way they were supposed to be. In the end it was just a bit to oily for me. In the end I think there are some good items on the menu and some that you should pass on. If I would not have tried the BBQ burger and only had the Mexi I would have probably rated this place 1 star. But the BBQ was very good and the Cheese fries were solid. I love the Burger Joint, this is the best burger place there is around that isn't fast food. My favorite burger to get is the Smoke Stack. It has everything you ever wanted on a burger. Creamy, cheesy macaroni and cheese, delicious pulled pork, a fried egg, and purple slaw!! It's big but it's really good. I get it every time I go and that's often, I'm surprised the workers don't remember me. Haha!! The Kimchi burger is good, too. The chili cheese burger is so delicious. The cheese is made with real cheese that you can even taste the flavor of cheese. Their fries are fresh, for $3.99, you get a lot of fries, that I couldn't even finish. Both the hand cut and sweet potato are delish. They have vegan options as well, boozy milkshakes, virgin milkshakes, sandwiches, and other types of food, too. I love this location!!! I am so happy that CL is coming up and they are introducing Houston restaurants to the area. I love how they cook the Impossible vegan burger here and how you can customize it to receive the same toppings as the other burgers. My absolute favorite choice of fries is the sweet potatoes. They aren't small and flaccid like most sweet potato fries, they are cut to contain the most potato and lightly seasoned with salt. They are the best and taste even better than the regular ones. The service is exceptional and I love how they give you a punch card so if you are regular, you'll get a prize at the end of the card. The drink choices are solid, but I wish they would offer a vegan option for a shake using some vegan ice cream. That would be the cherry on the top. I pretty much crave Burger Joint 24/7, but since I have self-control and don't want to overindulge, I would limit myself from coming daily to every other weekend. The ambiance is a plus too, you can sit inside the restaurant, or better yet, you can sit outside. Outside, they offer television, but only play sports which sucks if you aren't into sports like myself. I think they should do a mix, sports on some televisions and HGTV or cartoons on another. They still offer curbside pickup which is a plus because sometimes, you just want to order online and get pickup, but don't have the energy to walk inside the restaurant. Weird day at the Burger Joint. Overall, it was good food and service but I'm baffled by some things. We ordered our food and were told that they don't serve wine when I requested it, so we ordered two waters. I really don't like the skimpy water cups, but oh well. At the table was a sign that said happy hour Monday through Friday with $5 wine. We ordered the Parmesan bacon fries and a salad and a burger. We received regular fries, but had not been billed for the fancier ones and the waiter volunteered to bring the items to make them at the table which was really nice. We did not request it and said the regular fries were fine. I asked him if they were able to turn down the fans. I really didn't want to ask, but I was cold and uncomfortable and our receipt was under my water drink to hold it down, my hair was flying, and I had to hold onto my napkin to keep it from flying off of the table and the food was getting cold. I was wearing a dress with sleeves and my husband was in long sleeves. We were told, sure. No problem. 45 minutes later, I asked another employee who was sitting at the bar on his I pad if it would be possible to turn down the ceiling fans. I said we wouldn't be there much longer. He said, do you want them turned down or not. I said yes. He said ok, sure. It never happened. It was just annoying. I'll be back. ***This is really a 2.5 Star review*** As much as I wanted to add this place to my favorite burger haunts, The Burger Joint fell short. Also, the place was very clean, including the restrooms. Service here was a mixed bag. The young lady who delivered our food to the table was extremely polite and welcoming. The chubby bearded dude who took our order ... not so much. When my wife ordered a child's meal, he asked "Do you have children?" She responded that she was ordering for herself and couldn't eat an entire burger. "They're the same size," he responded in an unmistakably condescending tone. Still, he accepted her order and then took mine (incorrectly, I might add). I also noticed that he offered the patrons before us a punch card. Not so for us. The food here is OK. Nothing special. The folks cooking on the line did a fine job with my 'medium' burger order, and I'll additionally point out that everything came out hot and fresh. My burger was extremely greasy, to the point that it wilted the hell out of the leaf lettuce. Also, it had aioli (fancy name for mayo) on it, when I specifically ordered mustard. On a positive note, this place has numerous beers on tap, including quite a few local brews. Admittedly, the guy at the counter left a sour taste in my mouth to begin with, and I likely would have enjoyed my greasy burger with mayo a lot more had my first impression been positive. (I think most people, myself included, can offer a lot more grace when the person taking our order is polite.) Unfortunately, that was not the case, and we do not plan a return visit. read more
