Finally succumbed to the hype and gave Five Guys a try. I can't say I was wildly impressed. I had the bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink and found it pricey for what I got. The burger, although freshly made and assembled, was kind of dry and crumbly. The sign at the order counter says they cook all their meat well-done. That would certainly explain it! If you're going to offer made-to-order hamburgers, meat cooked "medium" should be an option. That's sufficiently well-cooked to kill off unwanted bugs without drying out the burger completely. The fries were very good and more than I could finish (a rarity)! Nice and crispy with skin on. But the burger is supposed to be the star of the show and I'm not sure, for the price differential, that this is that much better than one of McDonald's 1/3-lb Angus burgers, and for a meal combo with fries and a drink included Mickey D's is less expensive! read more

So I thought I read that Five Guys had a veggie burger... Well I remembered wrong, lol. They have grilled veggies on a bun! It wasn't bad, but different. My sister got the hot dog. She thought it tasted weird, I'm not sure as I didn't try it. We also split a side of fries. The large fries consisted of a huge cup and even more dumped into our bag. We didn't finish them. I don't think I'll be going back though, its really not my kind of food. read more

The food quality is slightly better than a fast food, ie McD's Burger King, Wendy's. On par with Hardee's. Tons of fries given on a small order. A little on the pricey side, Bacon Cheese Burger, Small Fries and large drink for $11. Not super expensive by any means, but the quality wad a little lacking. read more

I had been trying to go here since it opened and I finally got my chance on a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately for me, I had to take orders for 4 other people, I really hate that sort of thing. When I got there about 12:45 on a Sunday afternoon, the line was out the door. My quibble with 5 Guys was the time it took for me to get my food. I was in the store for 30 minutes before my sack o' burgers was in my hand. When I got back to the house we unloaded the burgers which were conveniently marked with numbers so we knew whose was whose. I found my burger with jalapenos, hot sauce, grilled onions and ketchup with relative ease. I feel it important to say that all the ingredients at Five Guys are fresh, so the jalapenos weren't pickled which really means they have the taste of jalapenos and not pickling spices. It also means that the burgers are never frozen and the potatoes are sliced in store. I shoved my burger into my mouth pretty quickly because my hunger was consuming all of my own body fat. My first bite was fabulous, with the perfect ratio of meat to cheese to jalapeno to onion to ketchup. Whatever that ratio is is only second to the theory of relativity in importance. The cheeseburger was fabulous. I've had better, but it's rare enough that I can't think of where I had a better burger. The reason for the missing star is because the fries are just average, the wait was horrendous (mainly because of my longing) and because my wife's burger was actually missing a patty. I think this place has been over-hyped. I went in expecting to be blown away by an awesome burger and fantastic fries. Instead I received a good burger and what I perceive as sub-par fries. I did like the nice range of toppings for the burgers. I for one really appreciate it when jalapenos are fresh sliced and not the same old jarred variety. All in all a good but not great burger. The closest burger I would compare it to would be the burgers at Grandstand, but I much prefer the Kelly burger served there. I like the idea of fresh cut homemade fries, but all too often they end up limp and greasy and such was the case with Five Guys. And no, I will not except quantity making up for quality. Five stars for the burgers, 2 or 3 stars for the fries. The burgers are always delicious, but I feel like the fries are never done enough yet are too greasy. I always forget this fact and still order fries. Note to self: forgo the fries, take peanuts instead. Now this place does a good old school burger. They originally started in Portland, I think. They do it just like a burger vendor would on the side of the street. With the standard condiments and relishes. They are all doubled stacked, and you can add just about any normal topping like carmelized onions, relishes, bacon, bbq sauce, peppers, ect... Their fries are huge portions that they dump into a brown paper bag. They are served 2 ways, regular or cajun. If you like your burgers without all that fancy schmancy stuff on them, Five Guys is your place. I finally got a chance to try this place today for lunch after much recommendation from friends. It was pretty good. I walked in at about 11:15 and was about fourth in line; 10 minutes later it was out the door. First of all, a heads up, the standard "famous burger" is a double patty burger so just be aware of that. After I tackled that monster, I really had no room for the whole "glass?" of fries. The burger was pretty good and worthy competition to Westport Flea Market in mid-town Kansas City. I think Westport Flea Market has a little better tasting beef, but the atmosphere is much better (read: cleaner) here at Five Guys. Fries were good, but still not as good as Oklahoma Joes. Perhaps they should consider lacing them with crack which I'm convinced is what Oklahoma Joes does (ok folks, you know I'm just kidding; but you have to admit the Fries at Oklahoma Joes BBQ are pretty dang good). Overall, 4 stars. Kitchen staff was working hard and place was clean. One word of caution, the line at this place could easily mirror that of Oklahoma Joes BBQ during prime lunch/dinner rush. read more

Have I not reviewed this place? I've been here enough over the last few years I don't know what is up. Today's visit was what you would expect; 4 star. On occasion it will slip to 3 stars. This is due to the burger being off the usual beefy awesomeness that you come to expect. Today we had good beefy awesomeness. I created a tip about a third, smaller, french fry size. I avoid the "regular" small because it is just too much and I lack willpower to stop or don't want to "waste" those delicious fries. The smallest size is perfect, maybe only a few too many. I can only imagine the large. Probably a half a bushel of spuds. I find the smaller burger is the right size for me. The bigger is just too much and I can pack away the food. Maybe without fries the bigger burger would be good. There is a multitude of FREE extras like onion or grilled onion, lettuce, mayo and on and on and on. You pay for cheese and bacon and I don't know what else 'cause those are the only paid add ons I go for. OK I'm rambling. That happens when I have a really good burger. read more

Five guys is average at best. The guy taking my order was pleasant. I ordered a cheese burger with L, M, P, side of fries and a shake... the total was $18! Aside from being way overpriced they don't offer very many sauce choices for the fries- no honey mustard, ranch or other speciality sauces. This may not be a deal breaker for most but I am a midwesterner thru and thru, ranch is life, lol. The burger was very good juicy and flavorful made to order. Shake was a delicious finish to the meal. The fries only get 1 star, aside from not having any of the above mentioned sauce, they were limp and seemed a bit burnt on the outside but almost undercooked on the inside. They were also kinda bland perhaps I should have tried the cajun fries? Would I go back... maybe but skip the disappointing sauceless fries. I think every time I've came to this location the employees were always very friendly and made sure everything was fresh and hot. Ordering online is also a pleasurable experience. It's almost as if they know who you are when you come to pick it up. It is however extremely filling and I always get the smallest burger and fries. I visited for the first time today and overall, it was pretty good. I'm giving 4 stars because this place is pricey! I came here thinking it'd be a relatively cheap place for me and my kids to eat, but my jaw dropped on the counter when my total was $31 for 1 fry, 3 little burgers, and 3 drinks! A medium drink is $2.29!!! I can buy 2 two liters of coke for that price. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious, but the laid-back, come-and-go atmosphere should not be the same price as a fancier sit-down restaurant. I probably won't go back simply because of this. If I want to spend that kind of money, I'll go somewhere else. All in all, the people were nice and helpful and the food was good, but it is definitely NOT the "$" that they claim to be. read more

Every table and chair is dirty. Not busy and no one is willing to clean up. Somehow a regular fry is $4 and they market as "cheap eats". What in the world is going on at this location ? Hubby & son brought home 5 GUYS for dinner tonight. I always get the small cheeseburger & Hubby shares an order of fries with me. This is like the 3rd time our food has been less than acceptable. They completely missed the mark with their trademark fries, what we received was just an abomination. The french fries were short, over cooked, hardened little shards. Most of them were approx. 2" long. They hurt my mouth to eat them. Burger hastily made & not in a good way. Bun damp and smashed onto the meat patty. The bottom bun was soggy wet. Wet. I get wrapping burgers into their foil wrappers, so they will stay warm on their trip home. I DON'T get trying to smash them into the size of a hockey puck. This is not how things should be. First time we thought was a fluke. Second time wasn't cool. Third time no more. It is going to be a long long time til we will order from them again. read more

This location used to be run well. The last two time we have been here have been awful. On 05/01/2016, they messed up our order. We didn't realize it until we drove home and opened the bag. Because it was close to 10pm, we couldn't drive back to the restaurant for a replacement. So we spoke to the manager on duty, Eddie, and she stated she would replace the order the next time we came in for free. On 05/15/2016, we came in for the replacement order. We waited 45 minutes for our food, only to find out they had LOST OUR ORDER. We were not the only people experiencing this problem. Other orders were lost and people were walking out of the restaurant due to wait times. Although we didn't have to pay for the order due to the previous mix up, they should have compensated us for this visit and let us use the other for the next visit. The manager didn't even offer. Unreal. Neither of us likes our time wasted, so we won't be back, even though the food is good when prepared properly. I have contacted Five Guys on their website to complain and to request the charge from 05/01/2016 to be removed from my credit card. read more

Oh boy!!!! I couldn't believe Five Guys was out here! I thought it was strictly a VA/MD/D.C. venue. Before leaving D.C. and transferring out here- I set out to enjoy everything that I loved about my neighborhood: local bars, clubs, restaurants, and of course my friends. I was so nervous about losing Five Guys, I ate there for the last three days in D.C...I tried to get sick of it, in hopes that I could overcome my cravings...Couple days later- here I was at the company HQ easdropping on my new co-workers discussion on "who makes the best fries" - and then BAM!~ there it was --- someone sang these words: "Five Guys on 119th"....I quickly turned my head One Hundred and Eighty Degrees while my body was still facing my computer screen ('Exorcist' eat your heart out!) - I knew where I was going for lunch...a littly teary eyed and all...and damn it, it was the same! I like a good burger and for a fast food chain, Five Guys really delivers. The burgers are always cooked fresh. They have the perfect amount of greasiness and are nice and juicy, and I absolutely love the total create your own menu along with the selections. You have your standard items which are always delicious and fresh, then some others that are not typical at most places, my favorite, jalapenos! The fries are great and also cooked fresh as you order. Be ready to split an order though because you get a huge bag full! The soda machine annoys me. It is cool and fancy and seems to have a larger selection because you can add flavors, but it can bog down the line especially if there are children involved who see it as a game. Worst Five Guys experience ever. Burger was over cooked and dry, only a small amount of cheese on the middle of the burger. One of the pop machines was leaking water on the floor. I gave this place two stars because when I went to this location "Olathe branch" with my Mom she had a long hair embedded in her burger. I got pretty grossed out and haven't come back to this location since. First of all, they came out saying "the order has stickers in the order of how you ordered them!" Totally wrong order. Three of the sandwiches were wrong and had to be brought back. My friend ordered a BLT and the bun was completely COLD. I don't mean cool, I don't mean luke warm, i mean COLD. While sitting there there was an odor that i could not figure out where it was coming from. After a lot of thinking i soon realized the stench was coming from my grilled cheese. To give you an idea of the smell, it smells like some one went and did a HIT work out in their leggings and didn't wash them but proceeded to wear them for the next 3 days. How a grilled cheese smells like that, i have no idea. Also the grilled cheese was made out of inside out hamburger buns. Like 4.39 for that? Not even including fries or a drink? Noooo thanks.
