Took my son to Five Guys the other day and it was exactly what we were hoping for. The burgers were great, but honestly the fries might have been the highlight. They give you a ton of them and they were fresh, hot, and perfectly salty. My son also got a shake and absolutely loved it. The place was clean, the staff was friendly, and the food came out quick. It's one of those spots that just does simple food really well. Nothing fancy, just a really good burger and fries. My son already asked when we can go back, so I'm guessing we'll be making another trip soon. read more

A lot has changed since my last visit to a Five Guys. I was so happy to see that they still offer free peanuts but customers are no longer encouraged to toss the empty shells on the floor. That would be frowned upon in this day and age. It was a curious practice that made extra work for the staff. It must be about a decade since my last visit. I used to have difficulty finishing a burger by this company but now Five Guys offers "Little" Hamburgers. That was perfect for me. The location in North Greenbush-Rensselaer is clean and bright. The staff is friendly. My order came out exactly the way that I wanted. It was a very good fully dressed hamburger. I finished it. It hit the spot. read more

i've been to five guys many times and only one time has the burger been not good considering I've been there probably about 20 times!

Sometimes other people know what is best for you. Take Five Guys, for example. I would never *order* a double hamburger (cooked well-done, nonetheless) on my own. Thank goodness for the benevolent quintet of gentlemen who brought this establishment to the capital district. These burgers are crazy good. Every bit about them is good. There was a sign on the wall, which said, "We cook our burgers well-done and juicy." My immediate thought was that the statement was pure puffery. I mean... how could that be true. Imagine my surprise to bite into my well-done burger (really almost medium well) and find it to be juicy, as advertised. There are two possible reasons for this. Maybe three. I know they use fresh beef. I know they hand form their patties. And I suspect there is just a little bit more fat ground into the meat than at your average burger chain. Speaking of delicious melting fat... I have to spend a little bit of time on the bun. The humble bun. Man is that good. I hear they are made fresh on premise. But they taste like slightly under-baked brioche. Rich and buttery. A little bit chewy. It makes the burger even that much more of a luxury. Sesame seeds on top, or course. The fries make this place a double threat. They have the perfect balance of being crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I don't know how they do it, but it is pure alchemy. If you want a burger, seriously, don't go anywhere else. The only thing that would make this place better, is if they served beer. Also, I would be here weekly if the meat was from happy cows, without antibiotics or hormones, etc. etc. etc. read more

Five stars for the food. -2 stars for the "curbside" and food being ready for pick up. I've eaten here a couple of times as of late. I have to say their grilled cheese burgers (order the grilled cheese sandwich then add a patty and toppings) are to die for. The cajun fries are also killer (and the portion sizes humongous). Their shakes are ok - better can be had most anywhere else for about half the price or twice the size. Now on to "curbside". I only went out of the way and ordered from this location because they claim to have curbside. Yet, when you arrive, they tell you to come in and pick up your order. They have no curbside. It's to go only. You know that cool little click this link to let them know you're on you're way/you've arrived? Don't bother. Your order will NOT be ready when you get there. Your burgers will also sit unheated while you wait for them to drop your fries. I would advise just ordering at the counter so that everything is made and hot at the same time as opposed to ordering in advance. I guess next time we'll just get to go at the Post Oak location. read more

I ordered from there approximately last Thursday, May 7th. I ordered Bacon burger with grilled onions and mushrooms. Upon getting home I noticed that the burger was oversize, but the bun didn't seem to support the burger. When I bit into the Burger, it didn't taste very good.Matter of fact, it didn't seem to have any taste at all. I found it extremely dry and even the onions and mushrooms were tasteless. Just trying to keep the bun together was an issue as it flopped around, not supporting the burger. I've had better at Wendy's. Way too dry! read more

Many places claim to make a great burger and fries, but I have never been anywhere that does it as well as Five Guys. Not In-N-Out, Whataburger, Shake Shack, or any of several local joints. FG is burger heaven. Yes, it's a chain burger, but NOWHERE does it as well. This location is the main one I visit when I'm home. Regular burger (half pound), "little" fry, and a soda sets me back a little over $13, not much more than a normal fast food establishment for the amount of food you get. And the amount of food is insane. A little fry is the size of a McDonald's large and they only get bigger. Burgers and fries are cooked to order and made with your choice of toppings- only once in dozens and dozens of visits (possibly over 100) have I ever sent back an order. The regular fries are good, but the cajun fries might be the best fast food fries out there. Staff at this location is friendly and the restaurant is always clean. Five Guys only has a few menu items: burgers, fries, hot dogs, milkshakes, soda. But what they do, they do REALLY well. Don't let the greasy brown paper bag the food comes in fool you. read more

Continuing my fast food tour while in 'Murica for training for work, I stopped by this Five Guys location before hitting the airport to head home. I thought I had beaten the lunch rush by coming early, but it appeared that a lot of other people had the same idea. The line moved quickly but there was a bit of a wait for the food, however there was plenty of entertainment from one of the guys who works here and is just loving life. If he's on when you're here, you will frequently here him holler out "I got one more in tha' do'!" when someone comes in, and after he hands an order out an enthusiastic "Enjoy yo'self!" When I got my food I eagerly hunched over the brown bag, prison-style, ready to defend it. I noticed grease stains showing up, which has its up and down sides. I opened the bag to see a absolutely huge amount of fries in there. There was at least as much lying in the bag as there was in my overflowing container of fries. There's a couple potatoes in here, no joke. They're crispy and golden brown, but some are noticeably undercooked, suggesting that there's too many being dumped in the fryer at once. For my burger I went with the double bacon cheese burger all the way, which entails ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickles, tomato, lettuce, and sauteed mushrooms and onions. The patties had a nice char on them and good texture, unlike a lot of chain burgers, but they were a bit bland. The sauteed mushrooms and onions added some much needed flavour though, and as you can guess with all the toppings and fries, this was a multi-napkin meal. Despite being famished when I came in, there was no way I was going to finish those fries, so I picked away at them on the drive to the airport before finally admitting defeat. I was a little disappointed in that I expected a little better after all the hype I've heard on the internet, but with this experience, I'm not to sad that we don't have a Five Guys north of the border. read more

It was Saturday night and I was craving a burger and fries. McDonald's, Wendy's, and Burger King wasn't gonna cut it. Red Robin was too far away. So I went with my next favorite place. 5 Guys!!! I ordered a cheese burger which came with two meat paddies. You can order as many toppings as you want to customize your burger. Also ordered a little fry which was anything cut little. They are generous with their hand-cut fries. My only regret was not getting a thick shake. Highly recommend 5 Guys for a burger. read more

Did you know that if you use the Five Guys app for pickup, you will be last in line if you order fries!!! So on 12/22 I order five burgers and two large fries for in store pickup using their app. My order confirmation showed my order would be ready in 8 - 13 minutes. I arrived at the store 13 minutes after receiving my order confirmation. When I arrived I was greeted and asked if I had a pickup order. I told him I did and gave him my name. He Walt over to the shelf over where they bags orders and pulled my bag down and said it would be a few minutes for the fries. When he pulled my bag down, he place it on the end of the counter and I could see my order number, 83. In the mean time, they're taking fries and filling bags with order numbers 88, 89, 90. So as my burgers are getting cold, other who ordered their food after I did are getting theirs. When I questioned them, I was told it was their policy not to cook fries for takeout orders until the customer arrived because they wanted them to be hot. When I asked why others were getting their fries before I did, I was told they "were here first". "But I have a lower number" I replied and I was told that was there policy. So I paid $63 dollars for two large hot fries and five cold soggy burgers. I doubt I'll be ordering here again read more

Five Guys probably has the best burgers there is, it's that simple. The burgers are fresh and thick. The melted cheese mixed with the fresh meat is scrumptious. The bread is tasty and helps bring it all together. The flavor of the burgers are out of this world. The fries are also good. They are hand cut and they use fresh potatoes which makes the fries taste great. The hot dogs are also pretty good, they are big and flavorful. The shakes are delicious, they are thin just like I like them. The flavor is amazing and they are easily in my top 5 for shakes. The service is fast and the price is fair. The burgers always taste excellent (as do the hot dogs), the fries are not my favorite but they're great when they're hot and fresh, and I love the selection of soda that the store has. I can't complain too much about the cost of a meal because prices have risen in all other fast food restaurants as well, and Five Guys is pretty much two steps above any other fast food restaurant when it comes to taste and quality. read more

Let me preface this by saying I'm not a big burger person. In fact, I don't eat a lot of red meat. If I were to rank meat in order of preference It would be Poultry, Pork, Beef. I went to my first Five Guys in 1991, in Baltimore Maryland. I was sad that they didn't have one back near my hometown. Fast forward to 2005 when I moved to the Capital Region. Then fast forward to a few more years when they started to open around the Capital Region. I was thrilled. However, Five Guys totally makes me throw that out the window. Their burgers are so good! I love the free toppings! I like to get a Angus Deluxe when I go to McDonald's every once in a blue moon. I get the same toppings at Five Guys and the burger is so much better than McDonald's! Then again, there's a lot that's better than McDonald's. The fries are wonderful too. I love fries and Five Guys are the best. They actually cut the fries themselves. They are the best fries ever and I'm not exaggerating. Be forewarned, a small is enough for at least two people, maybe more. They sometimes give you even more than a small size too. I love the white and red interior. However, the interior gets a little busy with all of the articles and stuff about Five Guys on the wall. There is one guy at the East Greenbush Five Guys who is particularly energetic and entertaining. He's usually the one serving the fries and on the microphone. He's great to watch! Okay there are two burger joints in this area one is this great establishment. The other is another review I'm doing, both have easy menu's, low tech looks to them, but two major differences. 5 guys have average burgers, very above average from your major chain burger joints, but nothing to exciting, till you get an order of their fries. Nothing beats the fries well other then having them smothered in gravy! 5 guys burger joints are great for quick dinner when your in an undecided mood for what to eat. Pricing is alittle high compare to your major chains, but again you are getting hand formed, cook to order (well done), with all the fixing's you want on it and GREAT fries! read more

It's clean, the service is always prompt and friendly, and the burgers are good. However, in my opinion, there are much better burger places out there but for some reason they have been slow to make their way to upstate New York. For example, there is Shake Shack or Burger 21 which are both excellent (but pricey). Both also have excellent shakes. I have not tried Five Guys but I also have never seen anyone order a shake any time I have been there. read more

Your typical Five Guys with good tasty burger with lots of options for toppings. If you never had a Five Guys 100% beef burger or daily hand cut delicious fries fried in peanut oil then you should. If you are familiar however, then it is your typical visit. But let me assure you that the staff are friendly the space is huge and plenty of parking. This place is located in the strip mall next to target, subway, ..etc. You may be surprised by the staff over friendly with each other you would hear singing, yelling, or loud laughter, very inviting atmosphere. I am never disappointed when I come here. When I am hungry, like "eat the innards of dead rhino" hungry, I come to 5 guys. I have recently taken a liking to the Cajun Fries, which are quite spicy. Here is what the ultimate meal looks like: -Get the big Bacon Cheesburger -Get a large Vanilla Milkshake -Get the Cajun Fries. You're welcome. The milk shake is the key because those Cajun Fries are quite hot, but vastly flavorful, and you'll need something to put that fire out. I actually went to the Glenmont store (you remember, the one where they nabbed the counterfeiters a couple of months back?) with a friend recently. Frankly, I was well pleased to see peanuts everywhere! I'm sorry, but I do get tired of being totally PC about everyone's allergies and stuff. Nice to go someplace where they're honest about the fact that maybe not everyone can go. The food was really good: fresh meat, great buns, fries to die for (or from, more likely). Just a nice, all around low key experience. I should point out that I'm more of a diner girl than a fancy restaurant person, but I do expect the food to be tasty and fresh. Five Guys passes muster, even though the name conjures up distant memories of trips to the department store to buy grandpa some sansabelt pants. This place has gotten a lot of positive press and reviews. I can't say it completely lived up to the hype in my mind. The menu is simple, which is great. I don't need a lot of frills. And the toppings are phenomenal. Fried onions and mushrooms! But the only type of cheese was American. Not for me. The service was quick, however they had switched my burger with the person who ordered before me. The situation was rendered quickly without question from the staff. The burger itself was good sized, and the bun was fresh, like other people on here claim. I'm not a huge fries fan, and these were good. The food felt pricey for what we got. Let me just say I LOVE FIVE GUYS! Never in a million years did I think I'd be able to say that about a burger joint again since being diagnosed with Celiac disease. But darnit, Five Guys delivers! I order my burger with no bun and they immediately ask if it's because of an allergy. When I respond yes, they notify the cook and that person changes their gloves and handles my order personally so as to avoid any cross contamination. The fries- oh I can wax rhapsodic about the fries- the kind where you can actually taste the potato - REAL fries.I asked for them well done, and was glad I did, because the difference between mine and hubs was that I had very crispy hot taters - and he had fast-growing-cool, slightly limp fries. 'Love the fresh peanuts too - all you can eat in house, but why fill up on them when you have an enormous quantity of fries and a double burger? Yes, the bun is awesome - toasted without you having to request it. They get it right here- though the hormone free - antibiotic free meat is a lovely dream........ and I would like to see the Fivers a bit more eco-conscious in general- there is alot of styrofoam around here! But I must admit, that I loved having it all packed in a brown paper bag, because when we sat down at our table, we were suprised by overflowing loose fries piled high in our bag - that was in addition to the 2 styro cupfulls! I've been to a lot of Five Guys and this one was the funnest I've visited, mostly because of one man, Mike Lewis. Mike has a very positive attitude and you can tell he loves his job even when he's cleaning tables. As soon as you walk in the door Mike yells out the count so they can start cooking your burger and fries before you order, faster service. From behind his dark sunglasses you can tell he wants to add value to the business by entertaining you slightly while you eat. yay! i was finally able to sample what everyone has been raving about. i am reserving the 5th star for dining in - we had takeout and by the time we ate the buns were a bit squishy and fries (i know, it has been warned) not so crispy. but still! i had the small burger as this too had been warned, and it was a good choice. the regular burger has two of their tasty (and what appeared to be hand made) patties accompanied by whatever other extras you so desire. you must however ask for the extras including condiments and lettuce. my squished burger was still very tasty and juicy. and Oh the fries. so yummy. i have written a review about a place from my childhood called Texas Hots that has meat sauce and fries that make you wake from dreams salivating. these 5 guys' fries are just about on par with them. i can only wish that they had gravy to complete their decadent perfection. i cannot add much to what the other reviewers have said in their rave reviews except to mention that you should not be a glutton (and thus wasteful). due to the fact that they dump a Huge portion into the bottom of the bag, i would say that one large is More than enough for 2 people. we got 3 large fries for 4 kids and 3 adults and there were a Ton left and it was a sad moment realizing that noone had room to fit any more of their delicious golden yumminess. the dogs actually got them from the counter when we were occupied later so at least they didn't go to waste completely. i Will be going back and convincing my daughter that she needs to lift her no burger ban for an evening. update: i took her and david back. after much complaining she ate a burger. and loved it. and she mowed down the fries. she even disobeyed the rule on the boxes and snuck some peanuts out for snacking on later - she had a grand plan of doing the napolean dynamite thing and taking them out during the day at school. and yes, they were better fresh. david kept going 'ummmm' and rolling his eyes. my only problem is the buns. they are a bit too thick and doughy for me. i want it to be All about the meat and there was some chewyness in the way. oh well, i will Most definitely be going back. and even kenz will partake next time willingly i am sure. read more

Just decided to eat lunch here. I ordered a little cheeseburger with grilled onions and ketchup, a side of fries, with a drink. It's not little btw. But it was the best cheeseburger I have had in a long time. Make sure you grab some napkins because it is messy but usually the most delicious things are. They give you more than enough fries which are super crispy and delicious. The soda machines are even cooler though! They have every soda you can think of made by the coca cola company which is my favorite anyway :) my total came to a little over $11. It's pricey compared to mcdonalds. But the quality is over the top! Can't even compare that. read more
