The food is always great at Panera bread. The salads and soups are wonderful. The only recommendation I would make is to clean the tables more often as sometimes finding a table that has been wiped down is a little hard. read more

This place should be a model for their local competitors. The staff is not afraid to make eye contact and greets you upon arrival. They take an extra minutes to make sure the order is correct. I rarely have to wait more than a few minutes. Even the restrooms are spotless. read more

Uber Eats order was out in for me. Everything was great. Consider the fact that Uber took some time while bringing it to me. My chicken club sandwich got a little soggy on the sides. May be they can make sure they dry there veggies better to put on a sandwich. Caramel coffee drink was great, I did add ice to it. Overall Great food. The people the work behind the counters clearly do not pay attention to what is being ordered. I had never been to a Panera. I was really underwhelmed. I don't think it is related to this location, just the Panera experience. It started like any other counter service place. I figured out what I wanted, and placed my order. It was unclear to me from the menu that there were side options with a sandwich. I got the Cuban sandwich in a large. Jordan got a chicken soba bowl. We found seats, the restaurant was clean, plenty of seats. Our food was delivered to our table fairly quickly. As I looked at the little sandwich placed in front of me, I wondered how small a small would have been. And it was $10. The bread was okay, but not stellar. The taste was there, but the filling was meager. Jordan's soba bowl was good sized, and full of stuff. She ate all the chicken and most of the noodles. I drank the broth and ate the veggies. The broth tasted strongly like basil, and was under salted. Unusual for a restaurant broth. Not great, not awful. Expensive for what I got. I think I'll pass on Panera in the future. read more

2/7/19- Overall Panera is a consistent and fairly decent chain. However the Rensselaer store is one I would highly recommend avoiding. over the past year, I don't think I have going in once and gotten what I have ordered. Today alone I am eating a salad that has been made for the second time grossly incorrectly. I finally just decided to pick out everything I was allergic to and eat it and leave. This has been pretty regular in the past year or so here. It's also not uncommon to see staff argue with each other. My recommendation is drive down the road another fifteen minutes and eat at the Troy location- it's better run and you get what you order. UPDATE 2/28/19- Today had to be here due to work schedule. Ordered Caesar salad- no croutons, add frizzled onions, cucumber, avocado, napa cabbage. What I received: Lettuce, 2 pieces of avocado, 4 cucumber bits, no onions, no cabbage, ONE CUP of sliced apples on salad. MMMM...Caesar dressing on apples! Management does not care, there is no quality control. Would give zero stars if I could. read more

I see why this place only has a couple of stars. Took a while to get waited on. I tried the self serve kiosk first but couldn't find the sandwich I wanted. Finally a young friendly fellow asked if I had been waited on then proceeded to take my order. I wanted the Mediterranean egg white on ciabatta bread but it's not on their menu anymore. It is however on their "secret" menu. Excellent. I caught the tail end of the making of this sandwich. Hmmmm, it wasn't put in that toaster grill thing. The bottom bread and cheese were put in a toaster oven then she put the egg white on top when it came out. No! I checked it before I left. The bread is hard as a rock. The top kept slipping off because the cheese was on the bottom melted with the spinach and pesto. No! I don't even know what this is! Was there fresh spinach in there? It just looked like mush. I asked if they still had ciabatta bread. She said that is ciabatta. It's artisan. I said it's hard. She said sorry. I left the sandwich there. I don't need to be struggling with my sandwich so early in the morning. The top wouldn't stay on because it wasn't grilled like it's supposed to be and the bread, which looked like a sub roll, was very hard. Not the same. Ordered a bagel with cream cheese. 30 seconds later he hands me my bag and I think to myself "that was really quick". Anyway, I went to my car to eat on the run. Panera is a decent place to have a quick simple lunch. Today I had a chicken chili salad with a half caprese pesto tomato sandwich. It was good but the salad could have used a little more dressing as it was dry. The sandwich was pretty good. My daughter loves the Mac and cheese and though I didn't try it, it looked delicious and creamy. Most of the employees act like they shouldn't be bothered to even look at you. They always mark your order as done but in reality you'll be sitting there for another 20 minutes until they even start your order, and most of the time it's WRONG. I haven't used this account once but after what I had witnessed today I had too immediately! While I was getting a glass of water and I noticed a young girl clutching her stomach, talking to what looked like her boss. Next thing I knew her boss yelled loudly enough to grab my attention and those around me, "that's not going to happen get back to work!" and stormed off and left an obviously ill young worker. I've been here during their busy hours and they have never disappointed. However tonight I ordered around 8:45 pm and picked up my app ordered meal at 9:05pm. I sat inside as there will still a handful of guests around enjoying their meals or having coffee. The salad I got had ingredients that couldn't not have been fresher and the Mac and cheese was perfect. To top it off, at 9:15pm a sweet worker with long curly brown hair thanked me for coming in and gave me a package of scones. Very impressed with tonight's last minute decision to get Panera! Bathrooms are usually always nasty and my daughter had hair in one of her breakfast sandwiches. They did prepare a new sandwich and gave her a cookie on the house. First off, they change the menu every other day and they have taken off my two favorite sandwiches, the Cuban chicken and the smokehouse turkey. The rest of the sandwiches are terrible. The chicken Caesar salad used to be good, but now it's terrible. The chicken is rubbery and the lettuce is usually brown. The broccoli cheddar soup used to be good, but now it's usually cold. The only good thing left is the Mac and cheese. It is cheesy and I like the noodles, but sometimes they are overcooked. The employees are rude and act like they don't want to be there. Unbelievable!! I waited 55 minutes for a bowl of soup and a piece of bread. Just go someplace else. I was told it might be a 20 minute wait. I was perplexed but assumed the cashier was exaggerating. Clearly they were busy. No computer failure. It just the "rapid pick-up" or kiosk orders jump the line. There are lots of others places in the area. I doubt I could be treated worse elsewhere. Last night I ordered a carry out order about 40 minutes before they were to close. Plenty of time to make a sandwich and scoop some soup into a bowl, if you ask me. When I got there, there was nobody to take my payment for like 15 minutes. I stood there until somebody finally showed up at the cash register. I payed, only to find they had not even started my order yet (what is the point of calling ahead then?). After they started my order, they discovered they had already put all the soups back in the freezer, so my soup that I ordered 30 minutes ago was frozen AFTER they knew they were to prepare it. I eat lunch at this Panera often since it's close to my work location, I've never been for dinner but I imagine it's similar. The food is usually very good for a soup & sandwich shop. The cashiers are friendly and efficient, long lines moves quickly. The staff overall is very friendly and helpful. There is also outdoor seating when it's nice out. I like that they offer healthy options for sides like fruit (granted I always get the kettle chips but hey, I know it's an option!) and across their menu. Their new-ish rewards program is pretty good, I have no idea how it works but it seems like every 3rd visit I have some free item (pastry/dessert, drink, smoothie, coffee, etc), always a nice surprise. The desserts are delicious if you break down.. hey- if you're going to get fat, may as well go down enjoying it. Overall, the food and service are quite good, prices are reasonable and it's a place to grab something quick and healthy (if you choose to do so anyway). read more

If there was a zero star rating, that's what I would give this place! The floors inside are absolutely filthy and sticky. You can see behind the counter as you pay the food preparation area has food and other trash (napkins, gloves, etc.) all over the floors. Empty boxes of chips are spilling out onto food preparation counters. Our to-go order was "checked" and signed off on and still missing items. People in the restaurant had their shoes off and bare feet propped up on the booths. Will not come here again! read more
