I have a severe gluten intolerance called Celiac Disease. This means that most fast food isn't safe for me, but Five Guys has been rated well on gluten free finder apps in the past. So, i figured I'd give this place a shot. I told the cashier about my condition and attempted to request that he put an allergy mark on the ticket, but he cut me off and belittled me, sarcastically saying "well you got the lettuce burger." He didn't even let me try and clarify what I meant. I then asked him if he could still put an allergy alert on my ticket or ask the workers to change their gloves (which they are legally required to do when informed of an allergy). Again, he dismissed me, saying "well they're supposed to do that anyway." In other words, he acted as if I was being stupid and completely disregarded my concerns, as if I don't know about my own allergies and about the severity of cross contamination. I then watched the workers (who did not change their gloves btw) touch my nephew's food (with a regular bun) and then proceed to touch my lettuce burger immediately after. Listen, I understand cross contamination is really hard to avoid in fast food places, and it's a gamble I hardly make given my condition, but I literally asked them if they could indicate my allergy, and --like I mentioned earlier-- they are legally required to change their gloves. On top of that, they weren't even busy at the time. I'm talking no one except me and my nephew in the store.... People may have different opinions about whether those with specific allergies/conditions should eat out, but regardless of that, I've been to other Five Guys locations where they are way more accommodating and understanding despite being busier than this location was at the time I went. read more

Quiet in afternoon, ordered at counter, got food in 6ish minutes. Rhythm & blues music in background. Offerings: DYI hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, drinks, free salted peanuts. Bites: bun less single patty hamburger (8.89) skipped condiments. Only lettuce, grilled onions, pickles, tomatoes, green pepper, mushrooms. -thin patty slightly juicy/flavorful. Most flavors came from fresh veggies. Not greasy like others -retry it to confirm my bias against 5 guys, mainly cuz they only cook burgers medium well, not medium rare as I prefer. -bun less burger is better than other places 3.5 stars. Good burger, good fast service. Price has always been a tiny bit higher than others but I think you get what you pay for. These burgers are very very good. They remind me of what I would create when I went to a specialty butcher shop for ground beef and did a no time or expense spared burger in years past. Those times have come and gone and its all about saving time these days. No chef days in the kitchen unless its cooking for my cat. I love my kitty. Went later in the evening as I was in the shopping mall. Food came out fast - drink was fine - I think a machine with lot of different flavors. If I remember right I skipped the fries. I decided to treat myself to Five Guys after an appointment. I placed my order on the website shortly after 11:00am (the time they opened) upon leaving my doctor's appt. about 5 mins. away. The website is simple and easy to navigate. I ordered: little burger, mayo, ketchup, and lettuce only, little fries, and a chocolate milkshake with whipped cream. The total including a small tip was around $26. Once I placed my order, I received a text to let me know my order was received and to click on the link when I was in my way. I clicked link, and headed over. Upon entry I was greeted with a pleasant smile and was told my order was ready. He was just making my milkshake. Avoid This Location at All Costs - A Terrible Experience** I ordered a burger combo. Initially, everything seemed fine--until things quickly went downhill. I took my empty juice cup to refill it at the self-serve beverage station. As I placed the cup under the machine, a thick, black, sticky substance--resembling ink--poured out instead of cola. I touched it, and the dark residue stuck to my hand and wouldn't wash off. When I raised the issue with the supervisor, she casually dismissed it, claiming, "That's just the cola flavor--don't worry." Needless to say, I lost all appetite for the drink. I waited for my burger, only to see staff wrapping it in aluminum foil like something pulled out of a greasy kitchen experiment. When I finally got it, the bun was doughy, as if it had been under a heat press too long--or not cooked properly at all. The sandwich was structurally unsound: ingredients shifted with every touch, and half of it collapsed onto my clothes before I could even take a proper bite. As for the fries--hands down, the worst I've ever seen. They were soggy, dough-like, and soaked in oil, clearly overcooked or improperly prepared. While I do complain about the pricing at Five Guys, it's my preferred fast food hamburger joint. I appreciate that I know where my potatoes come from, that there are no cholesterol or preservatives, and that the meat is always fresh and fresh cut fries daily. This was for the location in the strip mall located in San Leandro where we had a late lunch over a month ago on a Friday. Ordered their double patty mushroom cheeseburger with cajun fries and a self serve soda. Everything was great but felt the burger did not have enough seasoning. Staff was efficient and one employee was doing a great job of sweeping the dining room floor area. Very glad they put one close to me now because the closest ones were Alameda and Hayward. Food is always good. The service was a little slow since it wasn't that many people in there and I would think since I ordered on the app it would be quicker. I was surprised that Five Guys opened a location in the Marina Center! This was my first time trying Five Guys and it did not disappoint. We got the cheeseburger and bacon cheeseburger - both "all the way" and they gave more than enough toppings. The burger was stacked so thick that I could not fit the entire burger in my mouth in one bite. They do not skimp on the ingredients and it was fresh and hot to the touch. The meat patties were cooked thoroughly and the fries were good too. Service was quick and overall, I would give them a 10 out of 10. I am so glad they opened a location in San Leandro and this is a closer alternative than Habit Burger whenever I need a burger fix. The seating is a bit limited both indoors and outdoors - all tables were taken during my visit but this was on a Sunday around lunch hour. When I arrived the register did not acknowledge me and answered the phone, she did not take my order until 5 minutes after me just waiting for her to finish the phone call. The other employees did not greet us nor offer to help us. However when a "regular" costumer arrived one of the employees was quick to jump on a register to help them. The location is very small with only about 3-4 tables, and although the location seems somewhat clean there was hair in my food. If i could give this place 0 stars I would. Has the 5 guy's name & set up, employees were ok, unfortunately the burgers & fries were quite bland. I even had the big bacon cheese burger, it did not have the weight, and flavor of other's that I have enjoyed @ different locations over the year's. Shop is great to have in the plaza, but I do feel they have along way to. go as far as seasoning & or cooking style. Hopefully, they can improve over time. read more
