My brother loves this place. He says its his 3rd favorite burger joint to date. I wasn't impressed and I wasn't disappointed per se. I wanted to be blown away, especially on how much my brother hyped up the place. I'm a big time foodie, I want food that makes me close my eyes and ponder on the food in my mouth. I called in an order for a steak sandwich with mayo, lettuce and tomatoes only and I got an overcooked steak with only mayo and ketchup. I guess to them ketchup is the same as a tomato. You can see the quality of food one gets from the photo. It looks like it was a mistake from another order and they pawned it off on me. I've heard about this place for years having lived in the area for some time. I love the pastrami burger at Utah's Crown Burger so I was looking forward to trying this place! It's located in a little strip mall on Hesperian, definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. Old school menu board, older style tables/benches, it has that 1980's mom and pop kind of vibe. They are a bit understaffed when it gets busy but the food is cooked to order and they bring it out to you on an old school orange tray. I got the pastrami burger and fries. This has always been my favorite burger spot for 15 years. But last night we went and got 4 burgers 3 fries and it cost us 79$. No drinks. That's unfair and doesn't even add up. That honestly shocked me. Just a few months ago, I paid around $21 for more, including a soda. I understand prices go up, but that kind of jump doesn't feel right. What really made things worse was the condition of the restaurant. I went to the bathroom, and it was completely unacceptable--the toilet was overflowing and clearly hadn't been taken care of. That alone says a lot about what's going on. Then the service... I remember waiting a long time for my food while the cook was just talking, not focused on orders, and the owner was eating fries while taking orders. As a customer, that doesn't sit right. It makes you feel like your time and money don't matter. I've been coming here since 2010, so this isn't just a random complaint. I've supported this place for years, which is why it genuinely bothers me to see it go downhill like this. At this point, I'd rather spend my money somewhere like Chili's, Wendy's, Five Guys, or In-N-Out Burger--places where at least the quality, service, and pricing feel more consistent. In fact, some of those places are known for better value overall, with meals often costing significantly less depending on where you go. They have a hamburger topped with pastrami, and a mushroom burger, kind of standard,I guess but done very well. Why is this not five stars? Well the buns could be better. You walk in and it's like stepping back in time to 1985 with the decor. They have an old school menu board and they keep it simple. The food tastes fresh and like you remember how burgers and fries used to taste (and probably should). Take note, if you're in a rush call ahead, this place is not for you if you're short on time or patience. The soda syrup/C02 mix was great. Meat is charbroil 1/3 lb beef and the onion rings are great. I have heard the philly cheesesteak is great as well, but have yet to try The folks here are reserved, but they are very nice.
