The charbroiled Smokey burgers were enough to make the meal, but the nice amount of large steak cut fries and pump ketchup really added to the meal. I grabbed a chocolate shake, which was nothing but the finest nesquick chocolate syrup. It was delicious. What set this joint apart from other spots was the charbroiled burgers, but they also have some dogs and a Philly cheese steak I wanna try next time. Give this place a go, you won't regret it. I've been wanting to try Classic Burger for a while. I found it through a Reddit post asking for the best burger in the East Bay. A bunch of places were mentioned and I looked up pretty much all of them, but this one looked the best based on the kind of burgers I like. I love a charbroiled burger where you can actually see and taste the char, a soft bun, and melted American cheese. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with an extra slice of cheese, swapped the regular onions for grilled onions, and got the fries extra crispy. The burger was amazing. You could really taste the char on the patty, and they even char the bun, which I loved. Everything worked really well together, and it was so good without tasting heavy or greasy like some burgers can. The fries were good, but I personally prefer thinner fries, more like McDonald's size. If I changed anything, I would've asked for extra mayo on the burger. Definitely coming back! read more

I called in an order for a steak sandwich with mayo, lettuce and tomatoes only and I got an overcooked steak with only mayo and ketchup. I guess to them ketchup is the same as a tomato. You can see the quality of food one gets from the photo. It looks like it was a mistake from another order and they pawned it off on me. What a gem! My husband and I came here for the first time and boy was the burger good. We both ordered the regular burger, no onions, and shared a bag of fries. The bag is enough for 2 ppl, truthfully 3 ppl, and had the right amount of salt of them. It's located in a little strip mall on Hesperian, definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. Old school menu board, older style tables/benches, it has that 1980's mom and pop kind of vibe. You walk in and it's like stepping back in time to 1985 with the decor. They have an old school menu board and they keep it simple. The food tastes fresh and like you remember how burgers and fries used to taste (and probably should). Take note, if you're in a rush call ahead, this place is not for you if you're short on time or patience. The soda syrup/C02 mix was great. Meat is charbroil 1/3 lb beef and the onion rings are great. I have heard the philly cheesesteak is great as well, but have yet to try The folks here are reserved, but they are very nice.
