Decided to go to Five Guys on my 30 minute lunch break. Ordered a burger, regular fries, and a drink. If you have been to Five Guys, you know the burgers aren't that large and mine were on the flat top a bit too long. Decent flavor but just a tad bit too long on the flat top. By the time I got my food, I had less than 10 minutes remaining on my lunch break. It wasn't all that busy, so I was a bit perplexed as to wht it took what seemed to me as an inordinate amount of time to get some burgers and fries done. Strike one... Total price for this meal was over $20 - say whaaaaat??? It's been a while since I had Five Guys and at these prices, it may be a hot minute before I return. Strike 2... Lastly, the young lady taking orders seemed as if: she was having a bad day; didn't want to be at work; or just didn't have much of a cordial personality. She didn't smile, and everything was matter-of-fact transactional conversation. Strike 3... He was the guy who placed my order and the same guy who greeted me at the door. My issue is not the food... most times it's good but Five Guys sent out a BOGO coupon in celebration of their 40th birthday that could only be redeemed on 2/17/26. I anticipated having a good burger for nearly 2 days; however, on that day, the app and online site was shut down, I'm told (when I called), because of the volume of orders. Several customers had already called and I was told that I could still purchase food at the restaurant but Five Guys couldn't honor the coupon. My issue is Five Guys HAD TO KNOW that the people were coming because, let's be honest, the food isn't cheap and people will gladly go for this rare deal whenever they can get it. I've taken advantage of deals at multiple restaurants where the lines were out of the door (Chipotle). They paused periodically to restock and continued serving until every customer got what they'd come for. All I ask is when you send out a coupon, be willing to move heaven and earth to honor it or, at least, indicate that only the first so many customers (i.e. 500) will get the deal. read more

I went to a Five Guys in Texas and was very underwhelmed and when I moved to Ohio, several people mentioned Five Guys as the best burger ever. I thought I would finally give them another try. The burger in Ohio is just as bad in Ohio as they are in Texas. The patty is ultra flat. Crispy on the outside, which is not a bad thing but when this thin it underplays the taste of actual burger. The bun was soft and good. Toppings fresh and more than adequate. Juice factor on the burger was awesome but couldn't relate the juice to the skinny meat patty. The above in itself is a one star. Just the burger reviewed. The establishment is remodeled and organized horribly. Floors and walls bounce sound all over the place. At the register had hard time ordering with screaming crew behind her. Close quarters and they have to scream really loud. The stench is really horrible from all the grease. Ventilation not working properly. Tables arranged so customers coming in has to cruise pass some of the eaters and new customers waddle in because it is confusing which direction. If you are going to claim to have the best burgers, then best provide the results. As a chain, they have a good business model. No combos. Toppings are free. Order and build. Simple. Last time I had the milkshake and they were very good. Fries last time good as well and they cut the fries fresh. They only change is to stop promoting "Best Burger by "Washingtonian Magazine Readers" - what the hell does that mean anyways? If you do come here, get at least two patties, fries and milkshake and get it to go. read more

Five Guys never disappoints! Today I ordered the Little Bacon Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, ketchup, Mayo, and extra pickles. The burger was cooked just right and delicious. They were pretty busy since I got there right at lunchtime. Even though they were packed, everyone working was hustling, getting orders filled fast and cleaning. The place looked very clean. Although I love to hate large chains like Five Guys, I have to admit that, like J Alexander, FGB&F produces a very good product. They sell other stuff, but I'd stick with the burgers/fries. For about 5 bucks, you get a nice sized double cheeseburger....you get plenty of meat, and it tastes great. Toppings: They also have a very nice selection of about 15 toppings for your burger. You choose as many, or as few, as you want. Their toppings are nothing out of the ordinary (except for green peppers, which I find to be unusual for a burger topping). They have jalapenos(!), and they will saute them for you if you ask. Service is pretty fast and the price is pretty low. Is it the best burger in the city? No way. Not even close. Is it the best $5 burger in the city? Nope. Still, not even close. But, it is a damned good burger, and I'm probably going to eat many more of them. read more

Man - I feel like I'm between a rock and a hard place. I love to support the local man, but these burgers really do put the others to shame. This DC-based company is slowly starting to infiltrate the US, but in a great way. I tried burgers at other 'famous' burger places in this town, and well, what you pay for and what you get are two different things at those institutions. You pay extras for things that Five Guys just gives you as part of their burger. They have it all - from regular onions, friend onions, jalapenos, a slew of sauce options, pickles, tomatoes, and the list goes on. The fries here are always hot, and they have the perfect amount of seasoning. And when you go, only order a small if you're eating solo. They give your order then add a lot more to the bag. Also, not that this means the world or probably will change your buying habits, but every store tells you exactly where the potatoes are from. Oh - note to self - if you have a peanut allergy - don't go here! If you don't have one, this place just got better. They have peanuts at the start of the line, the end of the line, near where you pick up your food, etc... just grab a handful and eat them while you wait for your perfect burger to be created. I was in the mood for some good fries and ordered online. Order not ready when I got there, despite a text asking me to check in when I was leaving and when I arrived. When it was finally ready and I got back in my car, the food was disappointing. Grilled cheese not cooked - the cheese was not melted and the overall sandwich was lukewarm. The fries were not warm and didn't taste cooked all the way. Actually ended up with a stomachache later that evening. Visited Five Guys yesterday. I wasn't really all that hungry upon my arrival with my girlfriend and my one-year-old son, but that soon changed. Right after walking in you are standing in a quasi-turnstile line made up of stacks of potato sacks. If anything is going to make my mouth water, it's makeshift lines made up of bags of food. Me and my girlfriend both ordered bacon cheeseburgers and shared a large cajun fry. She got her burger with bbq sauce, mayo and grilled onions, while I got ketchup, mustard, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms and lettuce. Now, it is my opinion that the best burgers are those cooked in my backyard on the grill. Homemade burgers just have a better taste and are more filling. I got the same feeling with the first bite into this bacon cheeseburger. The burger comes with two patties stuffed between a sesame seed bun. The cheese is somewhere between gooey and solid (in other words - perfect), and the grilled onions and mushrooms were smothered in just the right amount of grease and fat. In the middle of my burger I stated to my girlfriernd that this might be the best burger I've ever eaten, and that is saying a lot. After finishing the burger and getting home, I was asleep in 10 minutes. Another sign that the meal was phenomenal. The only downside to five guys is the fries. They are fresh cut, which is the best and only way to make fries, but they are quite bland. We were able t. o eat about 2 a piece after our nap-inducing burgers, but even if we were still hungry we wouldn't eat them. Side note: bringing a small child to any restaurant can end badly, but while we were eating, our son olly threw his toy on the floor, and an employee just happened to be mopping the floor next to us. She picked up the toy, and went to the back of the kitchen and washed it off for him. That gave us both a pleasant surprise. We will definitely be back to five guys. read more

I'm not a burger fanatic, and I generally don't get fast food unless I'm on a road trip, but I do make an exception for Five Guys. I find that their Little Bacon Cheeseburger is pretty much the perfect fast food burger you can make. It's not too big, it doesn't have a massive meat patty that completely dulls any other flavor, and it's got bacon. After adding as many toppings as you possibly can (because they're FREE...don't forget the jalapeño), it turns out to be a pretty substantial but not disgustingly unhealthy burger. Yum on a bun! This place serves delicious, fresh food fast! The menu isn't extensive but they obviously stick with what they know- great burgers and amazing fries. I love that they have a long list of toppings for their burgers and don't charge extra for them, mushrooms and grilled onions please! Their fries are to die for, so delicious and reminiscent of carnival or Cedar Point fries. They fry their fries in peanut oil which makes all the difference.. but if you have a peanut allergy, beware! Also, fry portions are HUGE.. they definitely don't scimp here. so, on my trip to ohio i saw the sign for 5 guys. and my initial thought was i remember seeing obama eating here so i wanted to try it. haha.. so the last day before i left my cousins took me here to eat. they have peanuts for you to eat as you walk in. the burger was really tasty. i had a bacon cheeseburger. it tasted fresh. im definitely a fan!! there is a list of what they provide in the burger and you can choose what you want and dont want. they give you plenty of fries in a brown paper bag haha.. its still definitely no in n out but still very yummy! it definitely is better than the larger food chains. read more

I think it's impossible not to like this place. It's a different kind of fast food, but a very successful kind and one you love to see come along. All they have is burgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, and grilled cheese, plus fries. You pick from a list of toppings you want. I love that one of the choices is grilled onions, which add so much to a burger. You may have trouble getting a seat a peak times, but it is well worth it. The burgers aren't overly large, but are very filling, especially when you get fries. Your order comes in a paper bag, the burger wrapped in aluminum foil. The burgers are great, and consistent, which I find amazing for a fast food type of place. There is absolutely no comparison between a burger here and one from McD's or BK. They're completely different species. When I was a kid, I went to a lot of "carnivals" in the rural area I grew up in, and miss the wonderful fries you used to get there. Five Guys fries are about the closest ones I've found to them, and I love them. And when they fill up the cardboard cup the put them in, they have the cup already in your paper bag, and overfill the cup to where there are often more fries loose in the bag than there are in the generously sized cup! This was my second visit and now I get why people like this place. The burgers were fresh and cooked just right. The fries were lightly salted and over salted like last time. The problem is this location when we order online and use their steps of "on my way" and '"arrived" the food is never ready to go I end up waiting another 10mins for my order which is the exact same if I just walked in. In my most recent experience I was picking up food for my wife and I on the way home didn't realize she order a milkshake and apparently they didn't bother to hand it over the counter with the order. read more
