I don't know how I've missed this place for so long. Just trying them out today and I can say I was impressed by flavor. Stopped for lunch and ordered the BBQ Split and the Burnt Ends. They offer so many delicious sauces; my favorite was the coffee and the white. Our server was so friendly and guided us through the menu. The BBQ Solit is meant to be shared: a full grilled andouille sausage, split and served in a bed of corkscrew Mac n cheese, topped with baked beans, pulled pork, brisket, coleslaw, tomatoes and sauced with BBQ of your choice. The burnt ends were nicely cooked and soft yet well done. The smells are wonderful. I will be back to try more off the menu. read more

We had a Foodie card for $10 off a $40 purchase, so we decided to give Smokehouse 734 a try. We arrived between 6:30 and 7 on Sat evening. We were seated right away. Menu looked decent with various food choices, full bar, numerous tvs playing different things; so we thought a good food experience was in the making. We ordered ribs (1/3 rack) with a half salad $18.98 and the rib combo with brisket and baked sweet potato $26.98. A couple years ago, I was in the Houston TX area for a couple months and I was introduced to Texas BBQ - I fell in love with a particular BBQ restaurant in Spring TX. Meat there is always, juicy and fall-off-the-bone tender and is only open until they run out of BBQ meats for the day (which usually happens on a daily basis). Sadly, Smokehouse 734 didn't even come close on the expectations I had for good BBQ in the Toledo area. The Brisket didn't even look like it was smoked - no bark on the meat at all, no truly define smoke ring, and the fat cap / meat was almost cool to the touch. Usually when brisket is smoked properly and you pick up a slice, it will bend with the juices dripping. This was not the case at Smokehouse 734. The brisket portion was 2 slices that barely covered a slice of bread. My serving of ribs still had the silver skin attached and had to work to get the meat off the bone - not able to pull the bone out of the meat. Ribs were a tad bit warmer than the brisket, but definitely not fresh off the smoker by any means. Cornbread was a bit dry (crumbly) but had a decent flavor. Burnt End was mostly fat and the bbq sauce was slopped all over it as an afterthought. I was so excited to order them but when they came I was greatly disappointed. 2 out of 10 But try them for yourself. The brisket taco's were good I would say 5 out of 10, my husband said 7 or 8 out of 10, the only thing I didn't understand with that was the huge portion of tortilla chips that were under the big chips laid small pieces like they came from the end of the bag. We've been here a total of two times - 1 time for carryout 1-2 yrs ago and today for dine-in. I don't remember much about our carryout experience, but I can say with confidence we won't be back after our dine-in experience today. The food was fine. We ordered fried pickles for our appetizer and that came out within 10-15 min of us being seated. They were hot, delicious and the sauce they came with was pretty tangy and tasty. No complaints. We placed our meal order at the same time as the appetizer, but waited 20-30 min for our food to come out. We ordered Cuban and BBQ Chicken sandwiches. Our waitress came by once during that wait and told us our food would be out shortly but never gave a reason for the delay. I was irritated when the couple behind us - who were seated well after us - received their meals 10-15 min before ours came out. Our waitress was very chummy, attentive and friendly with them and barely checked in with us. Definitely didn't receive the same service. Unfortunately her tip reflected that. Our food was good. BBQ chicken sandwich was good. Needed more sauce but I asked for a side. Cuban was fine. Needed a sauce too but I used the sauce that came with the fried pickles. Fries were delicious and hot. Some of the onion rings were strange. The smaller ones mostly. They weren't even warm and had a chewy consistency. It was weird. As far as the atmosphere? Ugh. That alone killed it for me. 1) it's so dark in there. The dark floors...the dark ceilings...and all that dark wood! All that darkness paired with the depressing country music playing had me wanting to take myself out. I've been here a couple of times, and unfortunately my last two visits have been disappointing due to poor service. Both times we had the same server (I believe her name was Kylie--I only knew this from the receipt since she didn't introduce herself). I tried to give the benefit of the doubt after the first experience, but the second visit was very similar. It took quite a while for her to take our order, and we never received any drink refills. Much of the time, she appeared to be talking with coworkers at the POS instead of checking on tables. I think she may need a smaller section as it seems a lot to handle. I saw the other server visit her table probably 7 or 8 times so I won't say all the service is bad. Our food was brought out before my "starter" chili bowl. When it finally arrived, we were told it was delayed because they were waiting on a fresh batch, but it ended up being cold after being delivered a minute later. Having worked in the restaurant industry for many years, I understand that mistakes happen. However, clear communication with customers goes a long way. Being upfront about delays or missed items would have made a big difference. On a positive note, the other food itself was good, so no complaints there. I would like to begin with the fact the food is actually good. The problem is the waitstaff. The immature waitress my husband and I had today though has been the rudest so far. In the past, we've sat at the bar hoping to get faster services but because that has never happened, today we decided to get a table. Of course, there is one waitress for 6 tables which really wouldn't have been bad if she knew how to do her job! If you would like to go to a place that is in/out, THIS IS NOT IT! We had our drinks while we were waiting for our food, and ate our meal without a refill or any water. I'm not sure what's happened at Smokehouse 734... During my last two visits, I was served some really, REALLY, bad ribs. They were fatty, loaded with cartilage and gristle, and were just plain gross. It seemed like I was spitting out something inedible after every bite. Fuckin' aye. I will say that the sides (coleslaw and potato salad) were still quite excellent. Also, the service was great, too. And while I'm offering praise, I liked the beer selection. I hate to knock off 2 stars from my previous (5 star, ROTD) review, but I feel strongly compelled to do so. My and my wife went there yesterday I had a hamburger she had half a slab of ribs. Their ribs were burnt and dry hard as a brick. The hamburger was dry. The bun was hard. The potato salad had no flavor. The coleslaw had no flavor as much money as I spent I was very upset. Their cooks need to be trained better than they don't have a kitchen manager. They need one I have been in a food business for over 20 years and I would never let my employees sell anything that looked like that. read more

We went there for my wife's 65 birthday. What a mistake. I ordered the daily special which was smoked meatloaf with mashed potato's, with gravy and green beans. I've never had smoked meatloaf and it sounded good. After waiting a good 10 minutes a different waiter comes out and says they have no mashed potato's. So I settled for fries covered in gravy. We get our food and there were two pieces of meatloaf that looked like burnt hockey pucks. Nothing moist about it. I had to use a knife to cut the meatloaf. And I had to cover it in gravy to eat it. My wife got the charred salmon and she didn't have much to say about it. Then the wait. We had 4 different servers working our table. They all seemed lost. We said we were ready to go and could we have our bill and that took 15 minutes. As we were walking out the table next to us, a guy stated we had more patience waiting for our food and bill and said he couldn't believe their poor service. I agreed and said I'd never be back. We've tried this restaurant countless times. Being close to home we wish we liked it! We've had a beef burger served as a veggie burger. I've ordered the famous bowl with no coleslaw or tomatoes. It came with both so I sent it back. They just scooped the coleslaw and tomatoes off the top! All the coleslaw sauce was in the bowl as well as several Tomatoes. The only good food we've had here is the fried cheese curds and onion rings. Service is always pretty bad with attitudes. I would pass, don't think it's even worth a shot. read more

Okay, okay...who goes to a smokehouse and orders fish? I had to. I rarely see walleye on the menu in Columbus (where I live) so it was a necessity. The walleye was so good and I liked the tartar sauce too. Tasted fresh and was flaky without too much breading. They have "great lakes" fish of the day on the menu and I was so happy today's choice was walleye. I ordered it as a sandwich (they also had it offered as meal) and I liked how it came on two slices of bread with American cheese. It all just went together. For my side I ordered the potato salad which I really enjoyed as well. Oh and the pickles that came with it were yummy too! Other friends at my table ordered fish tacos, the burnt ends appetizer and pulled pork plate. Everyone liked their meals and we had no complaints. I've been feeling a sweet tooth lately and ordered chocolate cake which was topped with vanilla ice cream and very good! The waitress said the desserts are made in house! Went here for dinner excited to try it because we love BBQ and it had pretty good reviews! Honestly it was ok....not bad but not great either. I had the Johnnys Brisket Sandwich and like another review says it was basically pot roast. Don't get me wrong I love a good post roast but it needs carrots potatoes and gravy.....this had just some spicy ranch. I love brisket and I'm use to tender slices with nice marbling and juicy tenderness, this wasn't that. Flavor was alright. Fries were good, I little overcooked. We had the cheese curd appetizer which was yummy. My girlfriend had the burger which I will say was cooked perfectly and she said it was juicy. I really have mixed feelings about this place. When I came here for the first time I absolutely loved it. Great food, great atmosphere and the service was always good. I ordered a carry out today. I tried something new I believe it was the brisket Philly and a "premium side" of the brisket chili. Which I totally had to add hot sauce to it, not because it was bad (quite good) but who doesn't love hot sauce in chili? The brisket Philly. Was decent. Nothing I'd rave about. The top of it was quite dry, disappointing. Although the rest was rather savory. Had some kind of sauce or cheese on top. Just wish it was spread out more than on one little side. Now I will say if you want good bbq you will pay for it. There's no way around it. I will say a friend ordered the shrimp skewers along with a baked potato (the fries are great but that's my opinion, although haven't had them in a while). Like I said prices are what they are and if you want that dish you'll pay for it. But for three skewers and a loaded baked potato for $16.99. I'd expect a little bit more shrimp. But that's my opinion. Overall I think this is a nice place. It always has room to be better as with any restaurant. But to be fair it seems to be 50/50 when I do go there. I have been to this restaurant on three occasions. The first time was for lunch (pre-Covid) and I had a wonderful chicken sandwich! Second was a carry out during Covid that wasn't great for anyone in the family, but I gave them a break given the circumstances. Third time, we took a friend out for a birthday dinner and it was sooo disappointing. I'll speak to my dinner, which was a chicken dish that was super dry. I didn't eat much and didn't take the rest home; our server never inquired why and I didn't want to make a fuss over it. Not sure what my friend had, but she said it was awful. We showed up at 11:20 they open at 11. We were the 1st people and only ppl until noon when 2 other tables came in. The floors were filthy from the night before. Napkins, straw wrappers, everywhere and the staff just walked by them acting as if they don't see it. The host stood at the stand waitresses doing side work maybe? Someone needed to pick up up broom. Here are just a few shots but the floors were covered in trash. If I were the owner I would be livid. My husband ordered a burger and fries and I ordered the pick 2 meats which comes with 2 sides. I chose smoked wings, brisket ,slaw and a baked pot I planned on taking home. We sat there a good 20 min (mind you still no one there) when the waitress returned saying they didn't have Baked potatoes. I said ok The "fresh cut fries" as described on their menu, well done please. After another 10 or so min the food came, so about a half hour wait for food in an empty restaurant. My husband's food looked and tasted good. My brisket was room temp which doesn't bother me really but these are not fresh cut fries and I definitely wouldn't have ordered them as a replacement had I known they were a frozen product. I'm not a huge fan of French fries to begin with. The "corn bread" is glorified cake but tasted good for what it is. I don't think there was any cornmeal in it? Seriously. My food overall was good but if you open at 11 you should be prepared for customers. Not having food items, not sending hot food, and having an absolutely filthy restaurant isn't a good look for 1st time customers. The tasty food was the saving grace. read more

I gave my server Tammy the option to pick either burnt ends or burnt ends pork belly with maple glaze. She opted for the more expensive, like most servers do, burnt ends and they were mediocre at best. Decent smoke flavor but under seasoned and a plop of sauce on the top. If bone dry was the goal they nailed it!! A little care with sauce and light toss would have made them better and not so dry but that's how they do it. I tried the Mac and cheese which tasted like canned cheese sauce on cavatappi pasta but ate like gluey goop versus velvety and creamy. Then we got a smash burger that wasn't smashed and was unseasoned along with onions rings that were your typical frozen onion ring. A smokehouse should be layer on top of layer of flavor and the food as a whole was missing seasoning and most importantly a little care towards it. Stopped here on the way home from a trade show. It's off the beaten path but we wanted something good. This place is very convenient. It's was a Thursday night so football was on and people were playing golf and kids were running around. Actually those were the few big issues. There was a table of kids that were literally running around the place screaming. It was very a annoying. Very! I know a restaurant can't necessarily help that, but it was quite obnoxious. The other issue was the bathroom. It's unisex. And a complete mess. There were flies in it. Gross. I decided to hold it. A restaurant should have an ok bathroom for customers. Okay the food. I got the brisket. Not bad. I liked it. My associate got the ribs. I had a taste it was good. Portion just okay on the brisket. The various sauces are good. I tried a few. Again cleanliness is an issue. The bottles should be wiped down. Plenty of parking. Big place for a good size crowd. Probably try someplace else next time. read more

Our waitress was awesome and attentive. Appetizers: Sausage and Bacon lollipops (great) Our meals: Full rack of ribs, onion rings, cornbread and salad . Everything was excellent.
