I love five guys. I've been to so many from Seattle all the way to Tampa. The Vancouver locations are the only ones that no longer so the coffee flavored shakes. Literally the best shake flavor on the menu, and I live here now. This was an incredibly stupid move. Many people I know liked it and I no longer can tell people to come here, at least to these locations. I tell them if there traveling somewhere not in Vancouver they should eat there. How can we get the coffee back. This is my favorite burger place and I'm unbelievably disappointed in their decision. Even their employees don't get it. Didn't know what to expect coming here for the first time. Choose your burger and choose your toppings. You can add all the toppings if you want (for the same price); those that don't put much on their burger, this place can be a little pricey! The wait time is a little long since each customer can customize their own burger so there's free peanuts while you wait. The fries just taste like new-york fries. Nothing too special about them. I would have preferred ones that were deep fried instead. Seating is pretty limited so if you're planning to stay there, be sure to find a seat before you order. read more

Five Guys has a very 'food truck' feel to it, and I'm not saying this in a disparaging way. I waited about 10-15 mins for my burger to be prepared. While standing near the grill I lost my appetite a little because of how messy the preparation looked (tip: don't look). But when I ate the burger is was remarkably delicious, and eating the fries brought back fond childhood memories of getting hot fries from a food truck in winter (and made me wish I had ordered a large fries instead of a small). It is a convenient location for me, that's why I come here very often. However, the burger is pretty pricey. Granted it is tasty, as the patties and the fries are fried in peanuts oil! I've heard about this chain for a long time and just discovered they opened a joint in Vancouver, so I was impatient to try it out when downtown. That was a tuesday afternoon, around 3:00 and no one was waiting before me. But the managed to totally screw with my order : I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, but precised to the clerk I wanted it dry, with no sauce. "No problem sir, he said". I also ordered the fries, which were very good and fresh. Of course however they served me regular ones ibstead on Cajun Spiced I asked. But the big problem came from the burger : it was drowned with mustard and ketchup, and the cheese was missing. As I had a meeting about to start 10mn from there, I just picked up the bag and drove. When I realized it was not what I ordered it was too late, I didn't have the time to go back. But luckily I still had the receipt in my pocket. When I went back the next day and explained what happened, I expected that, as it is common in these case, they made me a new one. But the guy just said : "sorry I can't do that sir, you had to cone back right away with the defective burger". I asked to see the manager, and he told ne he was the manager and that it was the store policy. As a result : $15+ for a burger I could'nt eat and a bag of fries with no spices. One of my favorite burger places to visit. This location offers all the great food we have come to expect from the franchise. I recommend getting a burger with pickles, onions, tomato, lettuce, mustard, ketchup, and extra mushrooms. The ordertakers were quick during the lunch time rush. The downside to this was the limited seating as it was the lunch hour so you either had to sit with other people or take your lunch elsewhere. I really like this place upon walking in. The atmosphere is fun, and it's a good quick lunch if you've got a half hour to or so. The food tastes really fresh, and you can see everyone working their behind's off to get you your food hot and fresh. I like how Five Guys keeps the focus on the burgers and how it's not a whole lot of options, it's right to the point. They definitely stick to what they're good at and that's a hearty burger. The concept is simple. It's a little (1 paddy) or regular burger (2 paddy). Pick your toppings and that's it. My group tried the Cajun fries, and they had just enough spice. The only thing I would like to see improved is the type of cheese used on the cheeseburger. They use such fresh wholesome ingredients, and then it's processed cheese. A slice of cheddar on the burger would have gone a long way I think.. definitely would've made it a 5! I would definitely come back here again if I'm in the burger munching mood.. read more

You could tell they made everything fresh, but you kind of expect that with their price point. I rated "Five guys" based on service, cleanliness and the food. Food being the most important factor in this rating. First I will start off by saying that the burger overall is good, I got the regular hamburger and I was satisfied with what I got. The closest homemade style burger experience I had out of most burger places downtown. The downside being the amount of grease all over the burger even in the bun. The workers are fast but none of them seemed like they wanted to do what they were doing, (I mean fair a lot of people dislike working in Monday's). I've had 5guys burgers before, but only in the USA. I remember I quite liked it, because for the most part, the US really knows how to do junk food right. In the US, I probably go 3 to 4 stars on this. My son really wanted to pop into the Robson Street, Vancouver location on our way to a hockey game. For $20 we were able to get a large cheeseburger, a small bacon cheeseburger, and 1 small fries. No drinks. For this cost, and what we got, really reflects on my rating. My son was quite happy with his large burger, then again, he's a teenager who usually will eat anything! My cheeseburger was ok, but there were a few things about it I didn't like. First, it was wrapped pretty tight in a tinfoil wrapper, so when undone, the bun was really flattened and compacted. The cheese really looked gross and threw me off a bit. It was a light, pale orange color, almost yellow. I've never seen cheese look like that, and it really psyched me out. The bacon didn't seem to be in strips, more like a crumble. Overall, it tasted ok, but for the price, reminded me of a fast food drive inn burger you would find in the States for about $2 max. Adequate for $2, not for $7. Our small fries were pretty well a "small fries", nothing large about it, but that was ok, because they were quite soggy and gross. A bit disappointing, as I usually like this type of fry when done properly. Overall it was a bit underwhelming for me, It wasn't really the worst thing, but it just didn't do it for me today? I always went to Five Guys with my boyfriend before because the burger here is very fresh and tasty. We always ordered Bacon Cheese Burger, Regular French fries, and Pop. The Bacon Cheese Burger is a little bit expensive, but you can order the way you want (You can let them know what ingredients that you want to put on your burger) and the taste is much better than others burger places (McDonald). The fries are salty and have very special flavors. We only ordered regular size of the fries, it turned out very large portions a lot. This place is always very busy around lunch and dinner time. Finally open!!! I've been waiting forever for my hometown chain to open up in my new home! The burgers are as good as I always crave. Like, I'm-making-a-mess-and-have-grease-and-condiments-running-down-my-fingers-but-I-don't-care-because-I'm-stuffing-my-face-with-deliciousness good. Better than In-N-Out, for those of you die-hard loyalists to that chain... Way better. Little (single patty) is usually enough for most, but go for the regular (double patty) for a little extra tightening of your arteries while your tastebuds dance with delight. Don't make the rookie mistake of ordering a large order of fries -- a regular order is usually enough to feed a couple of people as well as all their friends and extended relatives and a few strangers picked up on the street. The plus side is, you'll have a greasy brown bag full of fries after you've consumed an unfair and unhealthy share already. Oh, and you're not paying some fancy restaurant prices but you get to customize your burger with a great selection of toppings. Want hot dogs? They've got those, too. Peanuts? Yes, peanuts. Free for the taking. I'm just thrilled they're finally open downtown and plan to extend my seawall runs to offset the crazy calories I'm going to undoubtedly consume here on regularly scheduled splurges. Came here on day 3 after opening -- there was a crazy long line out the door and I won't be surprised if that continues. Service was fast, but orders weren't quite right -- I got a few extra toppings I didn't ask for but happily got everything I did ask for. I echo Meana K.'s excitement. It is so freaking dangerous to have a Five Guy's so close to my centre of economic activity. At least when the nearest Guy was on the North Shore, it was more of a trek, and usually justified as a post-Grouse Grind calorie refill. The Guy ain't complicated, so a few succinct points: 1. Regular burger = 2 patties; little burger = 1 patty. And they're THICK! 2. Go crazy (or not) on the toppings. I'm "all the way", minus the mustard. 3. Fries - Eating for one? Get the mini. Eating for two? Get the mini. Eating for three? The mini is probably still sufficient... 4. The bacon is damn Damn DAMN! (Damn good, that is, if you missed the Youtube reference). We have been frequent customers. The times we have gone we asked if it was a pet friendly place and they said yes since we saw a dog inside. Today we were just on our way with our dog. After ordering and the employees saw the dog we sat at the table. and security came to throw us in a very bad way. We went to the manager and said there was no problem. We returned to the table and again came the security to throw us and shame in front of all customers. the manager insisted that we could stay and the uncertainty said no. Came in here after a few days in Vegas so you can imagine how hungover I was, needed a big burger to help me out. I live around the corner from here and it is ALWAYS packed so my partner and I decided to go early to beat the rush. We decided to just order one meal and go from there, I went with the Bacon Cheese Burger, drink and fries. What I loved about this place is you have a list to pick from in regards to extras ( free of charge ) I opted for the dark writing extras as the guy serving me said it is what most people go for, it consisted of toppings usually found on a standard burger. Just a thought, not sure how this would go down with a huge line behind you and trying to pick the toppings as it looked like there is about 20 to choose from, so good luck! Sat down, burger & Fries ready to go within 5 or so minutes. Burger was big, fresh and seriously delicious, exactly what I was after, if this makes sense but they didn't try to hard, and in saying this I mean that in the best way possible, sometimes when burger places do to much to the burger itself they ruin it by making it look and taste like every other place, this burger was straight up well done and even just thinking about it is starting to make my mouth water no joke! I am a big fan of Five Guys. I used to frequent the location in South Surrey and somehow haven't been to the Downtown Vancouver location since I moved to the city a few years ago. Competition is tough with other tasty places like Cannibal Cafe, another favourite. However, Five Guys popped on the radar and off we went for some cheeseburgers and "bag fries." They put so many fries in the regular size cup, it overflows and fills a paper with tons of fries! I love that I can customize the burger with exactly the toppings I want and love, and you can get single or double patty, too. The toppings are fresh and tasty and the beef patty is great. Love the salty fries! You can't beat the quick service and price is right, too. We had two burgers, fries and a hot dog for $25. Customer service was very friendly, too. The burgers start around $5 and go up depending if you want cheese(it's processed unfortunately) and bacon. The one thing I really did enjoy was the atmosphere. It has a 60's feel to it which gives it a unique ambiance, also there's PEANUTS. All you can eat peanuts. Great great burger! Everything is nice, fresh, and made RIGHT in front of you. The bun is soft and not too big. The patty is really juicy and tasty, and you can just taste the freshness of the ingredients/condiments. If you get the fries, they're crispy, not to oily, and perfectly salted. I've been a big fan of Five Guys for a long time. It was our go to spot during visits to Bellingham, and I went a couple weeks ago in Phoenix. Big, delicious burgers, good prices, and almost more tasty fries than you can eat. This was my first visit to a Five Guys in Vancouver........SO DISAPPOINTING! My girlfriend and I both took home soggy bun burgers, and way overcooked fries. Speaking of the fries, it was literally less than HALF the amount you get at the Five Guys I've been to in the US. I'd be more pissed off about the portion size if they weren't so gross. Shocking how bad it was. Add in prices that are way too high for what you get and you get a must avoid spot for burgers in Vancouver. I'll stick to places like Splitz and visit Five Guys when I'm down in the US. read more

Burgers are decently priced and much better than any other fast food burger you get. The fries are great and they give you free peanuts while you wait. What more could you ask for? The thing that makes this place stand out for me is that they don't charge an extra $0.50-$1.50 per extra you want added to your burger.
