Cheeseburger- all the way minus mushrooms

Five guys, more like five angioplasties away. The taste is there, definitely homemade style. But they have gone up significantly in price. I think the last time I went it was around $11 JUST for the burger. Geez o' Pete. If I go, usually it's with my husband and our bill comes out to $40-$50 just for the two of us. We usually split large fries and my go to is the peanut butter chocolate shake. I know right? If you're going to go, you might as well go all the way. After we leave I typically feel like I'm one step away from a heart attack.

Burgers here are great but to be honest I have no idea why the prices are so high. My son and I came here for his birthday. The bill was more than I thought it would be. My favorite thing here is definitely the fries because they are homemade style.

Why is Five Guys not an automatic five stars?? This is the closest Five Guys to our house. I am a Five Guys pro. I was going to the original Five Guys before it was cool. This Five Guys is good to go. With Covid, I place my order online now and just go grab it from the restaurant. The online menu is really easy to manage and I prefer it since I am picky with what I want. Since we just moved here to VA Beach, we are still getting the hang of where to eat, with exception to Five Guys. We have already ordered from here multiple times. It's a known quantity, and it's a good one. This store is run by a bunch of young people. Every time I have come in, they are respectful and most importantly, prompt. Another thing I notice is how clean the store is. That's a nice thing to see. I have never had to wait a long time for my food, and the food tastes the way Five Guys should taste. Well done. Don't change what you are doing.

Got my husband a burger and Kasian fries with a milk shake. Restaurant was clean and busy at the time but didn't wait to long for my food, witch was good. Friendly staff. My husband was happy because they gave him a good amount of fries. He loves five guys.

It's been too long since I visited this location of Five Guys. I have never had a poor experience here and love the location since it is not far from where I reside. What Five Guys does is keep it simple, just burgers, fries and hot dogs. What is unique about them is the quality products and ingredients used by the DC based burger chain. But dig deeper and you will find more that is unheard of in the fast food industry. Such as there is no freezer on the premise... their food is NEVER frozen. The ground beef is always fresh, thus the reason they deliver a great burger off the grill each time. Also by using only peanut oil for cooking they offer a healthier option to competitors. What else is different, employees make you feel good about your dining experience. Now that is something special and unheard of among chain burger joints. My visit today was flawless and food tasty. The dining room was clean and an employee was cleaning tables and sweeping the floor as is typical since the peanuts make such a mess. I also visited the restroom and found them in great condition with minor debris on the floor. I enjoyed the banter of the five to six employees working hard behind the counter. As a matter of fact I learned something new that you will not find on their company website. Anyone that is a customer knows that they have 50 pound bags of potatoes on skids around the store. What you may not know is that it is a company requirement that each employee be able to cut up a 50 pound bag in 5 minutes. Each store records it's own employee's best time. This location's record to cut up a 50 pound bag is 1:14 seconds. Another store in the Hampton Roads area is 58 seconds, one of the best in the entire chain. If you have never checked them out before it's worth your time to experience a Five Guys burger sooner than later. But keep in mind if your taking a family it is downright not affordable in my opinion, thus the reason a star has been taken away. A family of four could spend $40 some bucks. As a single, or double not too bad of a deal. Quality vs. affordability has always been an issue with me. Here is a fun fact, how many different ways are there to order a Five Guys Burger? Would you believe 250,000 according to their website.

As always, great burgers. It has been a while since I had a burger from here because my doctor said I needed to watch what I eat for a while. But when it was time to treat myself there is no better choice than Five Guys. Service is fast, no confusing specialty sandwiches to distract you from the great burgers they are famous for. When you have the time to have the best, go here.

So very disappointed in my little bacon hamburger tonight. We did pickup and came home. We live about 3 minutes from the store. My burger was cold and missing the bacon. My husband's big bacon burger was just okay. Fries are still awesome.

Just really disappointed. I came out to this location because it is so close to where I live. My $3 small fries were better than my $7 cheeseburger which really sucks considering i paid $12 . It's certainly no secret that Five Guys isn't cheep fast foot, but honestly I really don't mind paying the price when it comes down to delicious food. Over all, My burger had two pieces of lettuce the size of a quarter dollar, barely any onions and absolutely no ketchup which is upsetting. On the bright side, my seemingly extra small (compared to an average size small) order of french fries are actually really crispy and seasoned well so for that they'll get an extra star. Of course I'll return again in the future to give it another shot, I'm just hoping for a better experience! :(

The fly was buried under layers of bacon and cheese. if they were paying attention, they should have seen it.

I really wanted a good burger. I had literally been craving one. If I can't go to some of my local spots, my go-to is Five Guys. We ordered food, my daughter went to pick it up, we all sat down to eat. My daughter comes running over and says don't eat your food and shows us the fly in her food. When we called, they said we can remake it or refund. really, we just drove 7 miles back and forth and they say that. No apologies, no how can we make it better, just...here is your choices. Like this happens all the time. Thanks manager, Justin, your customer service sucks. I asked for a refund, waiting 4 days to see if it would happen and of course my card was charged. (btw, we threw away our food after seeing the fly and went to Wendy's). I called and was told at first that I would have to come in for my refund. We chose the refund b/c we didn't want to go back. Then all of a sudden she was able to process the refund. I am giving 1 star because of the manager Nicole who was friendly and resolved my issue, but I won't be back to that location b/c I didn't feel like they really cared about the customer experience.

The rude guy working the bar was neither friendly or pleasant. There were no napkins when food was served. I stood up and politely asked for some. I found some below the register and, since the guy was busy prepping drinks, I decided to get them myself. He then said, "okay do my job," which was unnecessary and rude. Though the other waiter was friendlier, service was overall bad.

So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. Everything was delicious, from start to finish and if i were a person that had a normal appetite i would've left full like my friends did. Will definitely be back!

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

The menu is small but very intentionally focused. They offer smash burgers done right, the iconic Norfolk snap dog, ice-cold beers, wine, and classic cocktails, and the prices are honestly great for the quality. It's small, so definitely expect a wait during busy times, but it's absolutely worth it. They also have outdoor seating, which will be clutch once the warm weather really kicks in. I ordered a Modelo, the F&P style fries, and the Mickey Burger. The fries are next-level, very much giving In-N-Out animal style vibes topped with grilled onions, Goodboy sauce, and cheese. I could eat those alone and be happy. The Mickey Burger comes with a double patty, cheese, Goodboy sauce, pickles, lettuce, onions, and a sesame bun. I subbed the raw onions for grilled onions (highly recommend), and it was perfection. Juicy, crispy-edged, flavorful ... everything a smash burger should be. Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.

The food is fine for the price but the manager (heavyset man with a beer gut, beard, and ponytail)…read moreof this specific establishment is a real tool. Ladies if you look good he might let you slide on free items (I've seen it myself) but fellas he's gonna hassle you even for sour cream if you don't tip him enough to his satisfaction and then complain to your face about it if you're a regular. To those that care: The specific incident that caused my review was I had went in on a tuesday for their "taco Tuesday" special. Now because I work by the oceanfront I frequent this place. I've been told they aren't supposed to let you walk out with to go orders on their taco Tuesday, but if I pay for and eat some of my food who is this manager to say I can't leave with a to go box(which in most cases I have), but I digress. I tried to do it today and the manager comes to me with a nasty attitude over me not tipping enough for his standards telling me I can't take my food to go because he doesn't feel I tip enough and "what's a 5 dollar tip gonna do for him". Keep in mind I told him I'm not ordering food for just myself I sometimes take lunch orders from work which is never more than 5 to go small tacos. I've never been rude to this man I'm a quiet person so I usually order wait and leave. I work for a reputable company that sees a lot of tourism and I often recommended this spot to our guests but due to this situation I will be advising people to avoid this place if you're not just going to drink at the end of the night on The Weekend. In the specific event the owner of the restaurant was there and confirmed they weren't supposed to be doing to go tacos which I can respect. What I dont respect is the manager picking and choosing when he wants to follow the rules of the establishment for his own gain.
