I saw a Facebook the other day with a 5 guys burger and had been craving one ever since. I got the double burger with ketchup, mayo, onion, and tomato with a little Cajun fry. I was REALLY disappointed in the burger. I feel like they have fallen off. I am not sure if it's this location or not. I am used to a grilled tasting, fresh burger. My burger didn't seem fresh. The fries were good, and they give you a lot as always, but I could've gone to Cookout for half the price. The staff is always pleasant, so no changes there. Why is Five Guys not an automatic five stars?? This is the closest Five Guys to our house. I am a Five Guys pro. I was going to the original Five Guys before it was cool. This Five Guys is good to go. With Covid, I place my order online now and just go grab it from the restaurant. The online menu is really easy to manage and I prefer it since I am picky with what I want. Since we just moved here to VA Beach, we are still getting the hang of where to eat, with exception to Five Guys. We have already ordered from here multiple times. It's a known quantity, and it's a good one. This store is run by a bunch of young people. Every time I have come in, they are respectful and most importantly, prompt. Another thing I notice is how clean the store is. That's a nice thing to see. I have never had to wait a long time for my food, and the food tastes the way Five Guys should taste. Well done. Well it's been several years since we tried 5 Guys.....We tried it again. Did it get any better? Or any worse? Stay tuned... I got the bacon cheeseburger with shrooms added. My two kids, ages 12 and 14, got the regular cheeseburger. My wife had the vege sandwich. We all shared 1 order of fries, large, which is more than enough for 4 of us to gorge on. I did remember that from last time, which was close to 8 years ago. My burger. Good, not spectacular, but good. Im used to other burger places, and by comparison, 5 Guys budgets are rather SMALL. Yep. Diameter wise, it's bottom of the pack. Easily. The mushrooms had zero flavor, no seasoning. The patties and cheese were okay. The bun had decent flavor, just SMALL for an $11 burger. A burger from Sonic is MUCH bigger, better, and 1/3 the price. Whoa... The 12yo child thought it was the best burger they they had. The 14yo child thought it was good, but thought it tastes just like a Sonic burger, that was her words without me saying anything, and she said Sonics was bigger and way cheaper, too. The wife's vege sandwich was pretty bland. She hooked it up with salt and pepper packets, but you shouldn't have to do that, especially with a vege sandwich, it should be skillfully and carefully seasoned to makeup for its lack of meatiness and protein, and its so easy as quick to do in the kitchen. The fries. Well you can't go wrong with the fries at 5 Guys. All agreed, very good, plentiful, almost makes the trip worth it. So for the 4 of us, 4 sandwiches, 1 fry, only 3 drinks, bill came to $55. That's pretty steep if you ask me. You can get a very similar tasting and built burger at Sonic for less than half the price of 5Guys, and it's bigger diameter and weight. Go figure. Same with a double Whopper, a Wendy's Double, Hardee's Star, all bigger and similar taste, half the price, and bigger. And they still didn't have a chicken sandwich. Say what? Come on now.... Come on... So, there you have it. Will we ever go back? Sure, in maybe 5 years to see if they've improved. Until then, you get a MUCH better value for the money in a Sonic double burger. It's been too long since I visited this location of Five Guys. I have never had a poor experience here and love the location since it is not far from where I reside. What Five Guys does is keep it simple, just burgers, fries and hot dogs. What is unique about them is the quality products and ingredients used by the DC based burger chain. But dig deeper and you will find more that is unheard of in the fast food industry. Such as there is no freezer on the premise... their food is NEVER frozen. The ground beef is always fresh, thus the reason they deliver a great burger off the grill each time. Also by using only peanut oil for cooking they offer a healthier option to competitors. What else is different, employees make you feel good about your dining experience. Now that is something special and unheard of among chain burger joints. My visit today was flawless and food tasty. The dining room was clean and an employee was cleaning tables and sweeping the floor as is typical since the peanuts make such a mess. I also visited the restroom and found them in great condition with minor debris on the floor. I enjoyed the banter of the five to six employees working hard behind the counter. As a matter of fact I learned something new that you will not find on their company website. Anyone that is a customer knows that they have 50 pound bags of potatoes on skids around the store. What you may not know is that it is a company requirement that each employee be able to cut up a 50 pound bag in 5 minutes. Each store records it's own employee's best time. This location's record to cut up a 50 pound bag is 1:14 seconds. Another store in the Hampton Roads area is 58 seconds, one of the best in the entire chain. If you have never checked them out before it's worth your time to experience a Five Guys burger sooner than later. But keep in mind if your taking a family it is downright not affordable in my opinion, thus the reason a star has been taken away. A family of four could spend $40 some bucks. After patronizing and praising their competitors for "top burger chain" in New York & Southern California, I had let Five Guys fall off my radar. A Five Guys cheeseburger was the perfect choice. When the burger arrived it was hot & perfectly prepared. The double meat patties with my choice of toppings was oh so good. Just really disappointed. I came out to this location because it is so close to where I live. My $3 small fries were better than my $7 cheeseburger which really sucks considering i paid $12 . It's certainly no secret that Five Guys isn't cheep fast foot, but honestly I really don't mind paying the price when it comes down to delicious food. Over all, My burger had two pieces of lettuce the size of a quarter dollar, barely any onions and absolutely no ketchup which is upsetting. On the bright side, my seemingly extra small (compared to an average size small) order of french fries are actually really crispy and seasoned well so for that they'll get an extra star. I really wanted a good burger. I had literally been craving one. If I can't go to some of my local spots, my go-to is Five Guys. We ordered food, my daughter went to pick it up, we all sat down to eat. My daughter comes running over and says don't eat your food and shows us the fly in her food. When we called, they said we can remake it or refund. really, we just drove 7 miles back and forth and they say that. No apologies, no how can we make it better, just...here is your choices. The food is good. The prices are not. A Small Bacon Cheeseburger with tax and 20% gratuity was $13.76. No fries and no beverage. Small fries are more than $6 with tax. Five Guys used to be on my favorite list but, quite frankly when a burger and fries costs more than $20, nearly any other choice is better. The beef is supposed to be made and patted fresh daily. Even the potatoes are freshly delivered, cut in the restaurant, and fried in peanut oil. There's a board to tell you where the potatoes are from that day, like what farm. French fries was a little soggy and too greasy for me, so I didn't care too much about it. The burger was decent, I liked the fact it's not all that thick. I'm not a red meat eater so I wish they had turkey option but it wouldn't a true burger joint, right?So too bad for me. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the super excited crew and they never seem insincere. I always stick with the "little bacon burger" of course raw onions, mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, and bbq have to go on that. You HAVE to get the Cajun french fries! I opened the wrapper to the hair sitting right on the lettuce. I knew immediately that my lunch was ruined right before I had to start getting ready for work. It sucks. The first time, they put cheese on my burger when I clearly requested NO cheese for it does not sit well with me. Waste of money, waste of food, but I have a new born. I can not risk getting sick for someone else's negligence. At least my girl enjoyed her food I guess, she was scared and Micro analyze every bite just to make sure she was good. Bottom Line: Best of the franchises but has issues. Also not the best as price vs taste goes! Not the greatest burger and fry place in the nation but among the better burgers you can get regionally. I am biased because I love In&Out as I am from California. Also I have had a top notch Burger from Fire & Vine in Virginia Beach but the main issue with five guys is that there food is overly greasy. From burger to fries you have to accept that you will be eating a portion of grease with your meal. It is this grease issue that takes away from taste. I have been to Five Guys more times than I can count on one hand. The burgers are quite delicious. The first time I went in, I was expecting something akin to a boutique, and I'm glad I was wrong! It was very down home and the menu was simple. It's burgers and fries, with hot dogs added if beef isn't on your taste buds. I have found that the regular hamburger, with 2 patties, is a little much for me. With all the extra toppings you can add, it can be Eiffel Tower big if you let it. If you want to leave full, but not over stuffed, get the Little Hamburger and share the fries. My favorite toppings are bbq style: grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, mayo and ketchup. To Die For! Now on to the fries. Not only do they give you a full cup of fries, but they add an additional dishful to the bag, so you really do have plenty if you decide to share. Being cooked in peanut oil gives them a robust flavor, and you can opt for cajun seasoning if that's your mood. However, if you're looking for ranch for your fries, that would be a big no. You get ketchup, ketchup, or ketchup (or mayo with ketchup). All in all, the service is always quick (I have never waited more than 10 minutes after my order is placed) and they are a great deal. I grew up in SoCal with In-And-Out Burger, and I would absolutely favorably compare the two. read more

A few of my friends told me that this place was not all that good so I figured I would just skip it... so for about 6 years now I have avoided this place. Today a coworker brought up the idea of everyone going here to eat and I am glad he did. He also noted that if I liked jalapeño's that this place had some of the freshest tasting jalapeño's he had. I love jalapeño's and he was right... they are fresh, not pickled and jarred! I ordered a little bacon cheeseburger as the little is on 3/4lb patty! It was more than enough. A regular is two patties!!!! I also got a regular order if fries and it was enough fried to feed a small army. The fries are also cut fresh & you can get them normal or with cajun. They have a good selection of toppings... very good to include sautéed onions & A1 sauce. If you are a fan of big juicy burgers that you can top your way, this place is the shit! read more
