Like any other Shake shack store they had the counters for orders and I hardly had to wait 10 mins to get my food . They are situated right at the center of town center area and near to a lot of other restaurants. Westin and other hotels are right next to it, so drive isn't an issue. I get Uber Eats from here every now and then because they do a lot of buy one get one deals. Makes that expensive app almost reasonable. The restaurant is nice, efficient and a good vibe. I recommend this one if you go. The onion rings were done right; crispy but not too thick batter with a soft onion inside, on point. The milkshake was thick but drinkable, and yummy. Décor inside is very hipster industrial style, almost unimpressionable enough that had I not been checking it out for this review, I doubt I would have noticed it. The shake shack is a nice spot if you want to take a break from drive thrus. It is an eat in spot with indoor and outdoor dinning. You order your food on a screen inside the restaurant then someone brings it to you but it's not a waiter service. The food was made to order and tasted good. I've been a huge fan of Shake Shack for years, beginning with the first times I tried it in NYC & New Jersey. So I was very excited when a location opened in the Town Center area of Virginia Beach. It has always been my choice, when running errands or doctors appointments & requiring a quick, small lunch until dinner. The convenience of ordering a ShakeBurger on their App & having it ready when I arrived was great. For a long time they also had a feature where an employee would bring your order to the vehicle when you arrived. Now you have to go inside to pick up the order. The reason for the change in my review from 5 stars to 3 is the change in the quality of the beef. When they first opened the high quality beef I expected was used. Recently they haven't been the same, tasting like they had a lot of filler. The quality was similar to fast food restaurants where I will never eat. This definitely wasn't a "Steak" Burger. Is this locally sourced beef? Has it been only a degradation of the meat quality at this location? I'll have to try a Shake Shack in Brooklyn to determine. I wish my much loved ShakeBurger would return to high quality beef, even if it's more expensive. My husband got a $10 grilled cheese that could fit in the palm of his hand. Regular drinks like soda and tea are $4. Not a whole lot of interaction with the staff. The atmosphere is fitting for the type of food with a nice outside eating area. The bathrooms could use an upgrade. It's a one person at a time type of bathroom but there is room to add partitions to allow more guests to be able to use at a time. There was a pretty long line for the men's room. Been wanting to try this location since I've moved here. Finally went today and everything ran smoothly. Ordering at the kiosk was a breeze and self-explanatory. While waiting for our food, I went to the condiment and soft drink station to grab napkins and utensils; it was very clean and well organized. A few minutes later, our food arrived at our table and the staff member had a friendly smile. While waiting for our food, I mentioned to my wife that I had dropped my keys in a puddle outside and no they were sticky; a worker who was cleaning tables overheard, found me at the table, and brought me a sanitizer wipe to clean up my keys. Obviously that's no reflection on the food, but it SURE IS a reflection on the people working there, who were all very friendly and helpful. The fries are the sort of crinkle-cut fries you remember from middle school: they haven't improved much. The burgers are fantastic. They're kinda tiny, but when you consider that you're getting made from scratch quality at drive-through prices... it's not a terrible trade-off. Nice and chill place to go. I like that you walk in and you can order using the touchscreen ordering system, or walk up to the counter and get assistance. I prefer the touchscreen, I don't feel pressured to rush. It's easy, they made it so that you can easily find what you need. After paying for your order, you sit down and they bring your food to the table. Servers have always been nice and cheerful. You clean up after yourself when you're done eating so the area is as clean as others leave it. I do see people that work there cleaning and wiping tables down every now and then. As far as the food goes, it's great!! We just discovered this place not too long ago and have gone 3 times as a family. Sometimes my son goes with his friends. It's very apparent that curbside service is preferred due to the amount of curbside parking spaces. Once inside they have a number of computers which is where you have to order your food from, I was concerned I was going to encounter the same issue I did with the app but grateful I didn't. My food was successfully ordered and I sat and waited for my order to be prepared. The food was ready very quickly which is great. Considering I wanted curbside so I can get my food and go. I ordered an original burger with no cheese and small fries. The fries were hot and crispy just like I like them. They had the right amount of salt. The burger was cooked to perfection very tasty. My only complaint is that there is no posted menu and you can only order through the tablet kiosks which I find annoying. If I'm coming out, I would like to order through a person. As a regular shack shake customer of multiple locations, this one was the busiest by far on a Saturday afternoon. Took 15 minutes to get food understandably. It seemed empty from the outside due to the window blinds but it was down so that the sun doesn't get into the customer's eyes which I highly appreciate. Burgers are expensive but are great quality. Came for the HotOnes promo but still prefer the shake stack. Fries aren't the best in the fast food kingdom. Shakes aren't as thick as other fast food places and aren't much to write home about. This Shake Shack is part of the inclusion of eateries normally found further north in the DMV area to Hampton Roads. Now that some of the "Oooh, I gotta have me some Shake Shake" frenzy has died down, I decided to grab lunch while waiting on the pooch to be groomed nearby. There is parking for those who'll dine in, grab and go and the occasional person who's deemed him/herself special and park anywhere. Upon entry, you can put your order in via kiosk or by going to the counter and doing it the old fashioned way by talking to a person. A 10% military discount is available for those with proper identification. You can't apply the military discount from the kiosk, only w/a cashier. Plenty of seating in the dining area and when the weather permits you can dine outside on the patio. Although they serve alcohol, it is frowned upon to walk about Town Center with your drank in your cup. Tables and bathrooms were well stocked and clean. The space is open and inviting. The price point for some of the items may be considered pricey but it is tasty. If in the area, this is a solid choice and I'd dine here again. read more
