I have been to Five Guys more times than I can count on one hand. The burgers are quite delicious. The first time I went in, I was expecting something akin to a boutique, and I'm glad I was wrong! It was very down home and the menu was simple. It's burgers and fries, with hot dogs added if beef isn't on your taste buds. I have found that the regular hamburger, with 2 patties, is a little much for me. With all the extra toppings you can add, it can be Eiffel Tower big if you let it. If you want to leave full, but not over stuffed, get the Little Hamburger and share the fries. My favorite toppings are bbq style: grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, mayo and ketchup. To Die For! Now on to the fries. Not only do they give you a full cup of fries, but they add an additional dishful to the bag, so you really do have plenty if you decide to share. Being cooked in peanut oil gives them a robust flavor, and you can opt for cajun seasoning if that's your mood. However, if you're looking for ranch for your fries, that would be a big no. You get ketchup, ketchup, or ketchup (or mayo with ketchup). All in all, the service is always quick (I have never waited more than 10 minutes after my order is placed) and they are a great deal. I grew up in SoCal with In-And-Out Burger, and I would absolutely favorably compare the two. read more

A few of my friends told me that this place was not all that good so I figured I would just skip it... so for about 6 years now I have avoided this place. Today a coworker brought up the idea of everyone going here to eat and I am glad he did. He also noted that if I liked jalapeño's that this place had some of the freshest tasting jalapeño's he had. I love jalapeño's and he was right... they are fresh, not pickled and jarred! I ordered a little bacon cheeseburger as the little is on 3/4lb patty! It was more than enough. A regular is two patties!!!! I also got a regular order if fries and it was enough fried to feed a small army. The fries are also cut fresh & you can get them normal or with cajun. They have a good selection of toppings... very good to include sautéed onions & A1 sauce. If you are a fan of big juicy burgers that you can top your way, this place is the shit! read more

So Friday the Wife had a dinner to go to and I was on my own for a quick bite to eat and since this place is close to home I decided to pop in for a burger MISTAKE! I got a regular cheese burger $7.82 no fries, no drink just the burger, the bun was stale, the burger way over cooked and dry despite condiments and the wait was 5 minute for basically a lousy burger! Cooked well done and juicy maybe they need to rethink the slogan and sorry but $7.82 for what they are serving is way to much. In comparison I got a cheeseburger big bite from 7-11 $2.22, was prefrozen and cooked well done and WAS juicy and the bun was not stale! Scary huh! After having a hankering for a burger I found Five Guys Burgers to have great reviews on the internet & decided to give them a try. Maybe my expectations were set to high after reading those reviews but I was kinda let down! I've gone twice now & still feel the same. The burger, yes, was good but no better than any other place I would have paid the $6 for it. Now the fries, the fries are awesome & the smaller portion is still enough to share for about $3. I think I enjoyed the fries more than the burger! I've seen a couple reviews compare this place to In 'n Out. Five Guys is better than In 'n Out for a few reasons. 1. The Fries - freshest possible premium potatoes, and NOT overly greasy, plus you get a HUGE portion. In 'n Out fries are stringy, greasy, and come in small portions. 2. The menu - more diverse; much better selection of entrees and options for toppings - and ALWAYS very fresh. In 'n Out toppings are limited, and often come their way, no matter what you ask for - also, they are not as fresh. 3. The service - I've never been able to get all the way to the Five Guys counter without getting at least one (and usually two or three) people greeting me with a smile and a genuinely friendly "Hi! How are you?" ...and I get the same friendly treatment when my food is ready. In 'n Out is like McDonald's for service - you stand, you wait, you order when it's your turn, you wait, you pick up your food... end of story. 4. The grease factor. If you don't eat an In 'n Out burger within 10 minutes of when you get it, you might just want to throw it away. The grease starts to congeal, and in a little while, you have a lump of fat in a wrapper. Don't get me wrong, In 'n Out tastes GREAT - until it cools down a bit. Five Guys is less greasy, so a burger still tastes great even after it cools down. If you're looking for a great burger, dog, or fries, Five Guys has my HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION. read more

I live in Va. Beach and the Independence Blvd. locale is the 5 guys I frequent the most so that is where this Yelp post will be found, but I am comfortable with the disclaimer that any five guys you have the opportunity to visit i think you should do so if you enjoy a tasty burger. I used to frequent a Tampa Florida location back in 2007-2008 and the one in the Outer Banks is delish as well. Not gonna lie, Five Guys is really good. I like how they have quite the assortment of toppings/condiments for the burgers. Whatever your fancy get what you want. I don't venture off my normal path too often. However a splash of A1 or hot sauce on my burger every now and then is awesome. And malt vinegar and ketchup for fries, drool. I made the mistake of ordering a regular sized burger AND a large order of regular fries my first time way back in the day... wow can you say food coma? Too much for one person. Don't come alone and share an order of fries. Preferably Cajun. I love cheeseburgers. It's true, I have a problem. I'll pay any price to feed my insatiable addiction and no amount is too high. With that being said 5 guys is quality and you get what ya pay for. Bottom line is that I really like Five Guys. read more

Disclaimer: I really don't understand the reviews on here for chain restaurants, like McDonald's... Seriously, it's McDonald's...? While I understand, if this particular location is nasty or service was terrible, please, write a review letting me know but stuff like... "Best food ever blah, blah, blah..." it's McDonald's!!!! Ok, that's my rant, I'm done... but with my disclaimer said, here is my review. This 5 Guys is as good as most, in fact, as others have mentioned, maybe even better than most. Every time I walk in at this location, they say 'hello sir... how are you sir etc.' When I leave, same thing, 'good-bye sir... have a good day sir...' etc. That's pleasant. Here's where the second part of my opening statement comes into play. On this particular visit, the manager that was there, seemed to way overdo this... He had a particularly annoying voice and was YELLING everything he did and expected everyone that worked there, to repeat or reply to what he was yelling... When someone walked in, 'Two in the door or hello sir...' then when no one else replied or said something, he would say something like 'greet people when they walk in please...' or 'say hello to everyone, now'... Then he'd continue to yell... 'I'm out of foil... I need more foil... can someone please say getting more foil...' and...'Walking behind you with a full bucket of french fries... can you say coming behind me with fries?'... 'going to the back to get something... 'please say how many burgers I just asked you to make.... what order are you on?... did you see that that order is for SMALL fries... ' etc. Again, I don't want to make fun of this person, especially if there's something potentially wrong with them... IDK.. I guess I just wanted to make people aware, in case they are there eating, for any length of time, trying to enjoy their lunch break... it can be highly annoying.... I've been ordering here about 6 years and have never had a bad meal. The fries are made when you get there so they are always perfectly piping hot from fresh potatoes. One large fry feeds two people with ease. I get mine without the cajun, if you don't like messy food I recommend this as the cajun coats everything in the bag and gets your hands nice and, seasony, as you're going in for your burger. The two dinky picnic napkins they give you don't exactly suck up the grease, or the extra seasoning going all over the place in the bag. Normally I would like to order lettuce and tomato on my burger, but with this place its not a good idea. They wrap the burger in foil which holds the heat in, so while you're driving from there to your house, its basically cooking your lettuce and that's not so yummy. This is a better place to order something like a mushroom swiss from. They stack multiple layers of thin burgers on top each other, so if you're looking for a more sink your teeth into type burger, I recommend Village Inn's All World Double Cheese which is two big thick fat stacks of beef layer with two types of cheeses, bacon, and a bunch of other stuff I usually leave off. Overall though, you can't beat fresh fried potatoes in peanut oil, and a tasty thin fried crispy edge burger if that's what your in the mood for this is the place. read more

Loved the food but not the attitude. Came in 30 minutes from closing to order out for my wife who's going through cravings from pregnancy, she cant help it and we apologized for the inconvenience. However what followed was unacceptable, stories from the workers talking about customers coming in late, rude comments, and cursing. I only had ketchup in my burger so I should have been able to taste the meat. Service was ok, nothing to write home about. Fries a bit too greasy for my taste. This location was super clean and the staff was super friendly. The burgers are so damn tasty and the fries, well I could kill for the fries. You gotta throw some malt vinegar on them, trust me! They don't have the bottles out for nothing. And I love how they keep their bags of potatoes out in the dining area so you know they are fresh and where they come from. I also love how you can pick your own toppings. They cook right in the open so you can see them preparing everything. There is nothing fancy about the way they serve your order either. I came to Five Guys 4/26/2019 and I was very pleased with their service. My receipt said that George was my cashier. He was VERY nice and the cook was very nice too! I am really big on cleanliness. The cook changed gloves when cooking my food. When another customer came in, George washed his hands right in front of us before making the customers milkshake. She never ask me why I was calling instead she just spouted off the district managers name Wanda Hess. I can not believe the manager does not care to know what has happened.
