These people are more worried about social hour and not serving their customers in a timely manner! We ordered 3 shakes that took over 20 mins to make and they were NOT staked with orders... people who came in after us getting food came and went.. They were so dry that even bbq sauce couldn't bring them to life or get them down my throat. So, they were trashed. For what we paid, our food should have been edible at least. The location off Indian River/I-64 and across from Regent University is good from a business standpoint due to a lot of traffic. The parking lot is tiny and not easy to maneuver however. This appears to be why their surface sign has been backed into. There was minimal debris in the parking lot, walk in front clean. This is the first Cookout I've ever been to, so when approaching the menu board I had to take a few minutes to study the concept and variety of items and sides including a whopping 40+ shakes. The prices were startling reasonable. I asked the woman what they did best. She said burgers most popular. She said they are not frozen. I ordered a cheeseburger with side of onion rings and corn dog. My son a cheeseburger with double side of fries. I got a fountain drink, my son a shake which are also reasonably priced. The cashier was friendly enough and helpful. The small dining room was packed. Floors and a few empty booths clean. Our order was called out around 10 minutes, not bad but is this "fast food". The food comes in styrofoam no matter what. I do not like this and wish they had an eat-in option with no styrofoam. The food was all hot. The burgers above average, fries tasty and per my son shake yum. I did not care for the onion rings, but corn dog was good. A trip to the men's restroom prior to departing. There was some minor debris on the floor. Overall, clean with proper supplies and everything worked. You have option of paper towels, or hand dryer. When you don't want Taco Bell another late night option is Cook Out. I honestly prefer the Military Cook Out, the food is always fresh and the employees aren't as rude as this locations. It's good news for people like me who get anxious driving through very tight / high traffic areas - a big reason why I tend to avoid the fast food joints on Indian River Road. I've been to several Cook Out locations before. This was the first time I have visited this location. Currently, this is the closest one to me until the new one opens up in the General Booth and Dam Neck area. I've been to the one in Williamsburg several times before or after visiting Busch Gardens. When I came in, the place was pretty busy. One of the things that caught my attention right at the beginning of the visit was just how slow the service is at the counter. There were only two parties in front of us waiting to order, but it took about 10-15 minutes for us to even be able to place an order. Once it was our turn to order, the person at the counter just looked disinterested. I had the feeling of why are they here from her (she was laying her arms and head on the counter). The ordering itself didn't take that long to do. About 10 minutes after ordering, the food was finally available. Overall, the food was good, just like the other Cook Out's I have been to in the past. On this visit, I had ordered the Big Double burger with fries and a chicken quesadilla as my sides, with an additional hot dog. Overall, the food was good, but service was definitely not there. That has turned me off from coming back to this location again. Hopefully the one that will be coming soon in the Dam Neck area will be better. read more

Went on a Sunday afternoon, there was a line but it moved very fast. I'd say an average of 1 minute per car going through the line.
