Went for lunch had great music including some lcd soundsystem, huge interior and fireplace seating. Menu vast as are portions. No complaints. The servers were very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, the food quality was below average and the portions were almost comically small. This was one of the most overpriced dining experiences I have had in Boston. I ordered a $20 grilled salmon sandwich, and it contained only a tiny piece of salmon--about three bites. My visit started off well at the bar. The bartender was attentive and prepared me a fantastic Paper Plane! The seats were super comfy and the bar felt swanky. Unfortunately, my good experience stopped once we transitioned to the restaurant for dinner. First, the dining area is very cramped and less comfortable than the bar. Second, it took forever to have our server take our order, bring our check, etc. The servers were chatting amongst themselves by the bar and only until we made eye contact did they come to our table. This happened each time we needed attention. Lastly, I ordered the salmon BLT and I was shocked at how thin the salmon filet was. The ratio of bread to fish felt very off, especially given the price. I'm giving this place 4 stars because I thought it was a great bar experience! However, I won't be back for their dining room. read more

To be honest I was actually really surprised by our food and service here tonight. It is a place I would want to try again. Ordered quite a bit of food with a large group but will only be reviewing a drink and meze plate since that is all I tried. The meze plate was good. The portion sizes were large and sharing friendly. The three different "dips" were good with the whipped feta being the best. The beet dip was a bit low on flavor. The service was fairly slow. The restaurant was fairly empty and it took over 30 minutes for someone to come by and take our order. Although once ordered, the food was fast to come to the table. We had to go to the bar at one point to ask if a server could come by. Not the best first experience but I sense it may have just been an off night. read more

We went here for a brunch with a group of 7 and a baby on a Sunday so place was empty so it was easy to get a table. The food came out slower than I expect since it was basically only our group there. My husband got the falafel sandwich which besides from salads was the only veg option and he said it was alright. I got the salmon blt which was good, definitely more bacon than salmon but good. The tater tots were nice and crispy. They had a sign outside that said brunch but they only had basically a lunch menu, it would be nice if they could expand and add more egg options. read more

New restaurant that opened up in Kendall recently! It's a classy sit down place with delicious food. I think the prices are a little expensive for the portions, but the food is delicious. I think the entrees are all solid, but if you come here, please leave room for dessert and get the lava cake!! read more

Went here on a Friday afternoon with my coworkers for lunch, 10 top. The aesthetic was very nice, lots of dark wood and darker colors but lots of lighting through their tall window walls. We ordered the following appetizers: meze plate (great fluffy pita but didn't really sample any of the dips), the fried pickles and peppers (good fry, not too greasy but the serving size was rather small), brussel sprouts (good fry, the accompanying sauce was a great combo), and the calamari (good fry, not too greasy). Overall very happy with the appetizers! For my main I got the steak tips. This was my first time ever ordering steak tips so I assumed that I could order them rare like how I like my steak but the server said that they only cook them to a certain doneness (medium - medium well-ish), ok no worries. For $28, I'd say it was a nice portion size with a lot of meat and potatoes but I do wish there was more broccoli rabe. The potatoes were roasted well, not to mush but not too crunchy. I'd say about 1/3 of my steak tips were on the suuuper rare side and the rest were medium. I'm confused as to how the cook can be so inconsistent on them but I got to say, the taste was delicious. It might have been a light sauce or marinade but you're initially hit with some kind of sweetness and then you get a hit of grill flavor, then you taste the steak. Very very delicious besides the inconsistent cook. Didn't get a chance to try any cocktails but will definitely give them a shot whenever I come back to this restaurant! read more

This is a regular spot for one of my local friends, and I can understand why she enjoys coming here. The bar area is beautiful, there's a very friendly staff, and their special drinks are innovative. I had non-alcoholic drinks here this evening, and they were just as interesting and tasty as the craft cocktails. If you're not going to sit at the bar, I'd say sit outside if the weather permits it. We did not order food here, but my local friend is a pastry chef, and she's recommended food here, so I'll take her word on that. Later in the evening, there's a quiet charm to the place, and for me, it feels like the perfect place to end a busy day. read more

Ambiance- Chill with relaxed vibe. Lots of people were around watching the game. Food- it was surprisingly decent given the rest of the experience outlined below. Good flavor on the chicken wings. Get the salt and pepper. The waiter's recommendation was spot on in not choosing a saucy version of the wing. We had the fried chicken Sammy and it was juicy with good flavor. The steak sandwich was pretty much a burger but it was also really good. Juicy with the horseradish aioli finishing off the flavor nicely. Drinks- I didn't stick to the menu cocktails which was a big mistake. Given the upscale vibe, I thought it'd be safe to order an old fashioned. No no no~ I thought wrong. The old fashion was on par with one ordered at say.... a Dave and Busters. It was watered down and tasted pretty generic, mediocre, and bordering bad. Service- This is the first time we came didn't know what to expect. My friend and I walked in and no staff member made eye contact. We kept standing for a few minutes and finally a waitress gruffly asked where do you want to sit. We chose a table, someone cleaned it, they walked away, and no one said a thing after that. We remained at the door for a little while (awkwardly) and someone finally came back and told us to sit. We ordered our food then the apps came out without utensils or plates. No one came by and again avoided eye contact so I went to the bar. Again I waited awkwardly with staff walking by me until finally our waiter came by. Overall, it's a generic sports bar masquerading as a chic high end spot. Luckily the food was good enough but probably not coming back even though I live around the corner. read more

Cute bar in Kendall square with both patio and bar style outdoor seating options. I visited on a Friday around 6 pm and it wasn't too busy. The service was attentive and food came out promptly. I ordered the cactus flower cocktail, pretzels, and gnocchi. The cocktail was refreshing and perfect for summer. The pretzel came with a really delicious spicy honey mustard sauce, as well as beer cheese and some pickled veggies. The gnocchi was good too but didn't feel as unique. I liked the addition of mushrooms. I will definitely be back to try some of the other menu options such as the baked brie! read more

A great place for after-work drinks (can't say happy hour, thank you commonwealth of Massaschussetts). Unfortunately, Kendall is the land of the 15 dollar cocktail. I by no means care if it's made well, but there's plenty of places around the area that don't know how to make the simple stuff. Either it was too diluted, too much sweetness added, not enough of an aromatic, etc. However, the basics and the originals at Locke bar have all been excellent, and I feel like it's a fair price. Beers are more expensive than what I'm used to though.... 9 dollars for a Guinness is pushing it. Food overall is not too bad, appetizers are typical for a nicer bar. I got the gnocchi once for dinner. Sauce and cooking was good, but the gnocchi tasted dense and a bit gluey. Not my personal favorite, but my coworkers all loved their mains, so maybe it was an off day. The atmosphere though is really nice. On a lovely summers day, the windows are opened up and the patio is good for large parties. During the winter, there's a roaring fire inside on one side which can get way too warm, but the staff are very accomodating. Overall a great staple in the Kendall square area for those seeking a casual get together. read more

Hidden gem in Kendall sq. The brunch menu did not disappoint. The French toast sticks were not sticks but they were perfectly griddled and topped with whipped cream and berries. The breakfast sandwich on ciabatta was toasted to perfection and the bacon was thick cut as described. The drinks were well made and thoughtfully crafted. The menu has a great variety and the patio was nice on a summer day. Would come back to try more of the menu. High recommend. read more

Went on a Thursday night ~7pm and was surprised by how busy this place was! We managed to get a table quickly but I think the next available table was one hour after us. Cocktails are decent and you can tell they put thoughts into the recipes with some uncommon ingredients like smoked tea, pear purer and etc. We got three appetizers: the Brussels sprouts was amazing! Good portion and fried to perfect texture but not greasy. Hummus and lamb tasted a bit spicy with the chili oil and I wish the pita bread was warm. Good flavor with the addition of raisin! Fried calamari is ok, I might not order it again because the portion was not as good as say Cheesecake Factory . This place is a gem. It's a beautiful space that is well designed with all of the window walls able to slide open to make lovely pass through open air spaces, a great long bar, and a big, pretty fireplace. It's a big space that feels somehow open and cozy all at the same time. The menu is limited, likely as they are getting fully up and going, with solid gastropub type items that you initially look at and think, ok, basics with a twist, whatever. Like, who among us that survived the 80s and 90s is at this point going to get excited by hummus or baked brie, right? But then you try said hummus and said baked brie, or frankly any other thing in the place, and you are blown away at how good that reliable old dish that you've eaten way too many times, can actually be. Food is really, really well executed and also, reasonably priced by Boston standards. It'll cost you more than the usual "tech kid bowl" but less than most other Boston sit down "office lunch by day, hotspot by night" places. Service is quick and good, ambiance is friendly and casual. Great beer and wine selection, and a solid, varied cocktail menu. Could easily become a new go to for Kendall. Definitely check them out. read more

NO STAR We had a horrible experience. One of our guests had a piece of glass in his beer. He actually drank it and thankfully it caught in his throat, and he was able to pull it out. The manager seemed to not care much at all, and offered to replace the beer. The menu had several things unavailable already for a 6:30 reservation. The food was mediocre, at best. The right thing would have been for the manager to A. care B. Ask what he could do to make it right. C. And most important, go through his glasses behind the bar and have every single one cleaned and checked. Will not return to this establishment. read more

Highly recommend! I held a work happy hour at Locke Bar for about 35-40 people. Peter was very helpful and responsive when I first reached out about reserving an area for our group. Maggie and the rest of the staff were extremely friendly and attentive to our group the entire time. We ordered a few appetizers (hummus, pretzels, meze plate & wings) that we really enjoyed! Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy their outdoor space due to the weather, but would definitely recommend it in the future. The atmosphere is nice. Great long bar and an outside bar which is nice if the weather is good. The service was attentive and kind. The food was just okay. My falafel was well-fried but under-seasoned. The pita was fluffy and soft which was a great quality. The large amount of pickled vegetables was a bit too large and adding vegetables to the falafel wrap was messy. The wrap would have benefited from more seasoning, fresh tomatoes and shredded lettuce. My companion had the steak tips which he thought were under-seasoned as well. Solid beer list, featuring two of my favorite beers on tap, so huge plus! The paper plane cocktail was rather weak on the bourbon and served "up" in a rocks glass sans ice, which seemed odd to me, but I'm no expert and it was my first paper plane cocktail. I'll be back for the beer unless they swap those taps out with options I prefer less! read more

My wife and I originally went to Locke Bar for her birthday about a month ago and had an initial lackluster experience. Subsequently, we were contacted by the manager, Conor, who was quite gracious and generously invited us back for another chance to experience the restaurant. We returned the other night and had a fantastic time. Conor was not there, but the manager working that night, Pete, came over, introduced himself, and was quite courteous and professional in thanking us for our return. We had a fantastic meal. My wife enjoyed the fish and chips which was cooked well. I had the steak tips which were cooked to order and came topped with cherry bomb peppers, roasted baby potatoes, and broccoli rabe. It was quite good. We ended the evening with the chocolate lava cake for dessert and will be making Locke bar a regular haunt.
