went back again after months last night. Ordered filet migon medium rare, baked potato with butter and sour cream, salad. Salad was good. But when steak arrived it was 1st taken to another table and sat down in front of that customer ..big no no, then she picked it back up and brought to me. should have sent it back asap. assistant manager brought it out. Steak was charcoaled to death! Very middle was pink, but outside was burnt. No flavor, other than burn, no juices. Also as a note potato had sour cream only. When I asked for butter, I was brought such a tiny amount that it honestly looked like it came from someone else's table. Maybe the person who had my steak first?? I kept looking for waitress but could never see her. Evidently she had the outside tables and that was busy. When I finally got managers attention, she yanked plate from in front of me and said ' hmm our steaks are usually excellent ". Well that's nice but you could plainly see mine was flamed on each side x20. And by that time my husband was finished eating, so I was tired of waiting. They did take off steak but proceeded to charge me $4.99 for salad and $3.99 for potato I didn't eat. Wow..thanks. It is a day later and I am still burping the burnt charcoal taste. That's it..I qui. I don't know what has happened there. Steaks and service used to be wonderful but the change has not been for better. read more

Hiked in Uwharrie last weekend and happily found this spot on Yelp for us to swing into afterwards. Great warm tavern atmosphere. Friendly and accommodating staff, especially our hazel-eyed helpful waitress. Solid craft beer selection (we had Red Oak and White Zombie). For food we got beef tacos (substituted real beef for the vegan meat on the menu) and buffalo chicken tacos. Both were respectable, but IMO needed more seasoning; some lime or chimichurri would help. But this was the only thing I could think of to take away from a 5-star rating. We will definitely be back! I want to try their build-your-own-burger next time. read more

I typically will overlook most things and extend grace, but tonight my husband and I went out to a local restaurant that we have been too many times before. It's always been so good. My husbands sloppy Jo was great. My salad, not so much. I asked for Salmon and I received a tiny piece of salmon, about 2oz on a very large salad of lettuce. I understand that restaurants and other places have made portions smaller and increased prices, but my entree was a salad. This was my dinner. It was not a side salad. The protein was not even enough to count for 1 serving size, yet my salad was $18.00. Very disappointing in a local favorite. read more

I've been here quite a bit since coming out of quarantine and it's definitely my go-to in Albemarle. They have great bar food but with their own twist along with good entrées as well. What makes it better than most are the salads and making your own is the way to go. Drink specials everyday and the Bloody Mary's on Sunday are a steal at $3. Only reason I can't go five stars is the service can be a little sluggish sometimes. Otherwise, you can't go wrong stopping in for lunch or dinner. read more

Just about the worst chicken sandwich I've ever eaten. I couldn't even chew it....cutting with a knife was nearly impossible. It was their Nashville Hot Chicken (breast?) sandwich. Tasted OK, but wow....impossible to chew. Fried okra was OK, but do something about the overcooked chicken. Won't be going back. Looked like a popular place. Great little spot in Albamarle right outside of Charlotte. Had a nice dinner with the family (4 of us plus grandma) during a busy Spartan race weekend. Seating was 15 minute wait but because it was the local prom. Service was super friendly and accommodating. We had a few adult beverages which were very cheap. Pretzel bites and wings to start. Pretzels were good, wings were fine, understand this is during a time when chicken wings are in high demand and low quantity so the quality of them wasn't top but it didn't have a trying to do with the cooking. Wife got a club, kids got mini burgers, MIL got salmon salad and I go the tacos. I liked my tacos, they were filling but not heavy, the buffalo sauce was a great little kick. Overall a great and affordable dining experience that I would certainly recommend or return to. read more

This place as upped its menu. We were a party of 8 and they were able to accommodate us on a week day evening. Everyone's dish came out hot and fresh. I had the filet and it was so good! I couldn't finish it and it was just as good the next day. A decent restaurant in town, parking in the back or front street parking. It can be crowded on the weekends since it's one of the few restaurants that's not fast food in town. Definitely will return if they keep upping their menu! read more

I loved being able to dine outside for dinner and drinks with friends! Their mules were only $4 on a Tuesday. I thought I'd try their chicken tenders platter which were fresh made and moist and the portion of this platter was ridiculously huge! Everything was absolutely delicious, even the steamed broccoli. FPFH checks so many boxes that other places don't. It kills me that the food is not better. Beautiful building on the edge of town. Lovely outdoor seating. Inside is cozy and warm. Bar is just the right size to be noticed but not dominate the restaurant. Booths were uncomfortable but that's okay if you are sitting at a table. Great, I'm liking the experience so far. Free wi-fi is still very cool to me and it's lacking at so many other places. Fantastic draft beer selection and yes! Daily drink specials! Want to drink good but cheap? They have PBR cans! All that to me is enough for 2.5 stars. Why oh why can't the food be as good? For our app., we chose the pimento cheese dip. Note the word "dip" because I did not and was expecting pimento cheese. This is a hot dip. Think of buffalo chicken or artichoke heart dip. Not really my cup of tea but that's fine. At the waitresses suggestion, we got the half chips half pita bread option. Go with the pita bread. It was hot, soft and fresh. The chips not so much. I do want to add here that our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive. On to entrees. The menu spoke of the sloppy Joseph as a signature dish and for a few bucks more, you can get it loaded with jalapeños and cheese. I thought that sounded good. I wanted to have the collards but sadly, they didn't have the pepper vinegar that should go on ALL greens. I opted for the tater tots. Would you believe the tots were the best part of the meal? The sandwich was underwhelming. It was a normal hamburger size bun albeit on brioche but hardly filling and think the bread wasn't exactly fresh. How about the fact that it was "loaded"? Five jalapeños and a spoon full of cheese to me do not constitute "loaded". The biggest disappointment with the sandwich was that the sauce was so sweet, I just couldn't finish it. Way too much sugar. Wife had the fish tacos and mac and cheese. The fish tacos were tasty but she makes better ones at home, and why don't they offer salsa? The mac and cheese was bland and she didn't care to finish it. In summary, this place has some serious potential. All they need to do is completely revamp the menu! read more

We were a bit disappointed in what we ordered. However, it was a challenge to order anything since the restaurant is so dark you have to use your telephone light to read the menu. The pimento cheese was a tasty appetizer but would have been better if it had been served with toasted bread or pita as opposed to nacho chips. The mac & cheese is supposedly a signature dish, but it tasted as if it came from a box. The salad and dressings were excellent. The honey mustard was especially tasty. The chicken strips were OK. Our waitress was attentive, although getting the meal took some time. I got a small cup of soup which was reasonably tasty. I also got a small order of Wings as an appetizer. We also had Mac and cheese eggrolls. These were really good but I definitely am glad I ordered a salad for dinner. We had the Pee Dee salad and the Cobb salad which were fresh and huge. Great new addition to the local downtown Albemarle restaurant scene. Located down the street from the main road in downtown, this place will surely have no problem attracting customers. Hardwood furniture and floors with a dark finish create a relaxed ambiance for a midday lunch or a nice dinner date. I came here for lunch with a coworker and was surprised at how much I liked this place. The menu is fairly similar to that of bar food, but with the addition of staples like salmon and the five points chicken. They have a build your own salad portion of the menu, but I must insist you try the waffle fries! Absolutely amazing! I tried the fish tacos which were excellent and the portion sizes were great, as I was not able to finish my meal, and all for around $10. This place will quickly become a local favorite in the area, I have no doubt. I can imagine it will quickly become the most popular spot on the weekends as well. read more

This was our first and last time eating here. Server, Casey, accused one of our group of being drunk and aggressive to her. First, of all, she was not drunk. Second, she was never aggressive to her. All we can think, is she did not like her asking questions about the food and sauce on the salmon. Now the food, one of us got broccoli with their dinner. It was just plain steamed broc. No seasoning. No flavor. Two of our group got the blackened chicken alfredo. We noticed neither of them eating very much of it. One said it had a peanuty taste. We tasted it and agreed.
