This place is pretty damned decent…read more Let me preface that. I'm from Southern California, where there are tons of good Mexican restaurants (what with being next to Mexico and all). While not quite up to those standards, for this area, this place is one of the better ones. Despite being really busy on weekends, we usually get our order quick and the food is decent. Great guacamole, white meat chicken enchiladas, good fajitas. (Nothing better than a cold Negra Modelo and some steak fajitas). Yep. If you're looking for Mexican in this area, this place es muy bueno.

Jalapeños is a decent option for Mexican food in Albemarle. We were able to be seated immediately…read moreand had prompt attention from our server. They let us know what drinks they were out of, and we made selections based on that. The restaurant has ample seating for groups of all sizes, and there was even a multi-generational family birthday party coming in as we were exiting. We ordered the Mexican tacos and the Texas fajitas. The Al pastor tacos were good and came with a side of rice and beans. The fajita plate came out, along with its sides of rice, beans, guac, and other items, but the tortillas did not. Our food was brought out by people other than our server, and they did not come back to make sure we had everything we needed. We eventually had to get up and ask someone else at the restaurant for the tortillas. The fajita platter had about half meat and half vegetables. Overall, it's decent place. I don't see this becoming a regular place of ours, but if someone suggests this for a dinner out, we won't say no.

I met my sisters here for National Margarita day. Their margaritas are the best I had anywhere…read more We had the regular Margaritas, but they have a Cheerwine Margarita you have to try. These aren't little wussy margaritas either. They are two-fisted size ones. The food is fantastic! Try the Cheerwine tacos. You won't be disappointed. The service is always great too. We go back as often as we can.

We used to enjoy eating here, but it has gone downhill. It is awful. We have tried it three times…read morein the last few months, and it was awful each time. On our visit on Thursday, the worst part of the meal was our service. The waitress was unfriendly, almost to the point of being rude. She sat my husband's plate down and it had a hair on it. He told her and she grabbed the plate and held it up in the light to try to see the hair, as if she did not believe it was there. It was. Then she just took it to the kitchen without even speaking to us. She never refilled our drinks. She was never nice about the hair in the food or about our drinks being completely empty. We finally stopped another waitress who brought tea and water to our table. The chips used to be good. They used to serve pico with the chips. Now, they charge for the pico and they have changed to a cheaper chip. They are thick and not good. They are not even served warm. We will not be giving this restaurant any more of our money. The rude waitress needs to find a job she feels is worthy of her time, because she obviously things she is above waiting tables. The man who acts as the manager fawns over some customers who come in, but completely ignores all of the rest of the customers. No onoe comes by and checks on the tables. No one cleans up the debris dropped in the floor around the tables. This is the worst Mexican restaurant in the area.
