We arrived in the parking lot for dinner. The weeds and trash in the lot should have been an indication on how our experience would go. We were seated pretty quickly. We sat in the booth for 25 minutes without anyone waiting on us. I had to ask who our waitress was and if we were going to be helped. This is after several member of the wait staff passing by our table ignoring us! We waited another 5 minutes until we finally left and went to BlueBay for dinner. I decided to go on Valentine's Day for a date and frankly it was the worst experience I've ever had at a sit down restaurant. Told 45 min wait, waited 1 hour and a half. Once seated it took at least another hour for our food to arrive not to mention rough 30 minute wait to place our order. For a time frame we arrived a little after 5:30 and then left shortly after 9 mostly due to waiting. As for the food most steakhouses offer a side and a salad with a steak however, this steakhouse offered only aside or a salad I had ordered the ribeye, which I know my meats because I used to work as a meat cutter and I can assure you, it was not the listed ounce for the steak same with my dates food. In fact, we heard another customer behind us say the same thing that their steak was clearly not the same weight as listed. My dates steak came out overcooked. And one of us got the baked potato, and we shared it and the other a small salad and shared it plus the complementary bread that was offered was basically two small rolls when in the past I remember, they used to offer the kind of loaves you would cut. Ultimately the experience was one of the worst I've had if not the worst and overpriced. It had been years since I had eaten at this place because it is in my hometown, but I decided to revisit it for a special night and ultimately left very disappointed. I really enjoyed my dining experience last night. Our food was really good. The service was attentive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. My party of five all left happy. We were seated after a short wait. Our server, Jason, appeared at our table within a few minutes of being sat. He took our drink orders. We ordered an appetizer. He gave us a few minuted to look over the menu. It seemed like five minutes or less he reappeared with our drinks. We also got a refill in a carafe and a bucket of ice with an ice scoop. He brought us several small loaves of bread and butter. We got a basket of crackers with cream cheese dip. Our appetizer came out. We ordered fried green tomatoes topped with pimento and cheese and applewood smoked bacon. They were delicious! The salads came out minutes after that. They were pretty basic but they were composed of fresh elements. Our food orders came out in a reasonable amount of time. All of our orders were correct. Everything was hot. Our server made sure we had everything we needed to go with our meal. I got an 8 ounce sirloin. It was cooked perfectly to my requested doneness of medium. It was surrounded by delicious au jus. I got a side of buttered rice and broccoli and cheese. The broccoli was good and not mushy. The cheese was like processed cheese spread. The cheese was the only part of my meal less than excellent. Someone else got mashed red skin potatoes that were yummy. One of party members ordered cedar plank salmon that was delicious and perfectly cooked. She added an order of shrimp for $3. Another ordered corn chowder as a side. It was topped with bacon crumbles and was awesome. They displayed a sanitation grade of 99.0. The dining area looked clean and tide. So I can give a good background on this place through the years. Used to eat here weekly since the owners were family friends back in the 90s and early 2000s. Ownership changed hands and it's been very hit or miss since. I went last in 2014, hung out in waiting room for an hour with no res, and ordered a medium well steak that came out 2.5 hours after that was cooked as rare as a steak as I've ever seen and I couldn't handle eating it. I still remember the wait time that was blamed on a private party. When the person at the register asked how it was, I responded 'pretty bad' since my date was also not very happy with her meal after 3 hours of being in the restaurant and left $1 dollar tip for what ended up being over 4 hours. Fast forward to giving it a try again with my wife in 2024, and we had a more enjoyable time. Told it would be a 45 minute wait on arrival at 6 PM on a Saturday, so that hasn't changed in 8 years. Got sat down and had a very helpful waitress in her 40s that was a enchanced the experience. We ordered the Yadkin Valley Sirloin for 2, and it came out cooked perfect. I ordered a medium for my cut this time and my wife got a medium rare, both hitting the mark. Great price for what we got and left the restaurant at 8:43, so still leaving one star off since I think it's difficult to do this experience in under 2 hours, so be patient. read more

Went there tonight for the first time to have our anniversary dinner, We are new to the area, and wanted to try this place, We are always willing to pay a good price for a good meal, and to splurge on a great meal. It was AWFUL. The decor is REAlLLY bad. We were seated in a section off the main restaurant even though the place was empty. Although not much better, the main part of the restaurant had a little better feel than the area where we were seated. We ordered 2 filet mignons. I guess I should have known there was going to be a problem when I ordered a baked potato with mine and was told they were out of potatoes at 6:30 pm on a Thursday before Mother's Day weekend. WHAT??? No potatoes at a steakhouse???? I decided to take the red-skin mashed potatoes instead. My husband ordered a baked sweet potato with his, a side of baby shrimp (dusted and fried) and a side of sautéed mushrooms. We both ordered a cesar salad as our other side. My husband tried to order a craft beer, only to be told they no longer carried ANY of the craft beers on the menu. Now - the menu is pages inside a 3 ring binder. It's not hard to take the page out and replace it with what you currently have available! The cesar salad came - not great, limp romaine and just ok dressing. The steaks came with the sides. We both ordered our steaks medium rare. Mine was blue - not edible for me. My husband took mine and I took his slightly more cooked (but still less than medium rare) steak. The waitress never even came by to ask if our steaks were cooked properly or if our food was ok. Now - EVERY person who has ever worked in a steakhouse. knows you ALWAYS ask if the meat has been cooked to the customer's satisfaction. The mashed potatoes were inedible; hard and cold on the outside, warm on the inside and terrible! My husband's baked sweet potato was OLD - the skin was burned on the inside and the potato was cold. The baby shrimp were not good either - no flavor. The mushrooms needed salt & pepper, but they were the best part of the meal. The best part of the experience is that the older woman who checked us out gave us about 1/2 off our bill, which would have been about $100. I am very grateful that she did. We will NEVER go back to this place again. read more

Me and my boyfriend went last night to eat. The lighting in the place is terrible, when we finally got seated the waitress Hannah asked what we wanted to drink... once we had ordered our food (we both got a steak) she asked us how we wanted them cooked. Told her medium well so she writes our order down, we wait about 20 minutes or so before we get our food and once we have it the steaks are almost rare, both of our baked potatoes were almost over cooked, my broccoli was cold, the cheese they served on the side with it tasted terrible.. I told the waitress we couldn't eat those because they was not cooked enough for us, after like 5 minutes she brings them back out only to be burnt on top but still just as rare as it was from the first time. Than she goes to get the menu to show us that they can't cook the steaks medium well but it's clearly on the menu an she clearly wrote it down without telling us that to begin with. Came in at 9:10pm, they graciously took our party of 4 as their last for the evening. Service was on spot....they were out of Cattlemen's Filet and a few other items but quickly stated they would substitute and all was cooked as ordered. Salads were fresh and then our server made a fresh ranch dressing to make sure we all plenty. No one had to send anything back, all sides came with meals as ordered. Our server was Hannah....BEST SERVICE EVER! Served us even though it was closing time and went WAY ABOVE to make sure our food was what we ordered and the experience was good! We showed up on a Saturday with no reservations and they got us in. Was well worth waiting for. I had the whisky delmonico steak - delicious but huge (more than I could finish). My husband had the ribeye & it was fantastic also. Save room for dessert - the chocolate pie was delicious. Staff was friendly, and our server (Jennifer) knew the menu very well so could make suggestions & recommendations. COVID related - they are doing a great job. They are working at 50% capacity so seating is every other table. All the staff is wearing masks. Hand sanitizer is available at the front & patrons are required to wear masks when not at their table. We felt very comfortable eating in the dining room. We visited on a Friday so not expecting immediate service However, there were only 3 tables in our section and the waitress was only hyper focused on one. Every time she brought one thing to their table then they asked for something else and off she'd go never checking on us. They asked for MORE bread and water and off she went never thinking about other tables. I didn't expect my food in 15 minutes but a glass of water or drink order would've been nice. After 15 minutes of no service, I went to the hostess station inquiring if we had a waitress. The lady who normally checks us out said she would see who our waitress was but after a few more minutes we left. We ate at this establishment last night. My wife ordered ahi tuna medium rare that came placed on buttered rice. First the fish came out well done, on top of the most chewy bland white rice I have ever tasted in my life. I ordered the chopped steak medium, this steak came out charred and well done also. Out of our meal 2 bites were taken. We addressed the issue with the server and we received a response of would you like boxes to take it with you. I have been a chef for 10 years and trained at Johnson and Wales University. This was some of the most horrid and bland food I have ever tasted. This is one of the best steakhouses I have ever tried. They have a unique way of cooking your steak. They use hot stone to cook on. Don't ask for medium well or well cooked. The chef won't do it that way. It's a fairly classy place but only requires casual dress. Our waiter's name was Jack and he was superb! He was very nice and courteous and very attentive. He made sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this restaurant It is not fast food. Everything is made as you ordered but it didn't take long to receive our meals. I can't believe anyone could give this place 5 stars. My wife and I used to go here occasionally when we lived in the area and wasn't bad. The steaks were OK and fairly priced. The service was hit or miss and the hostess NEVER smiled. Back then I would have given it 3 stars. BUT, we brought a group up from FL to run a local race and decided to take them there for dinner. We made reservations so they knew they were getting a group of 12. They also had similar size group in the room adjacent to ours who apparently were related to the management. Long story short, they got great service and we got attitude. They were out of almost everything, it took over 2 hours to get our food, food was cold, and substitutions were made to the sides without asking. Never again! read more

This is the first time we have visited Yadkin Valley Steakhouse since it reopened. We had around a ten minute wait when we arrived. The food was great and the service was outstanding. We have always loved the atmosphere. We ordered the sirloin steak for two and it was cooked just right and was delicious. If you have not tried it, I would highly recommend it!! read more

I can't believe I am giving a steakhouse in Albemarle, NC a four-star rating BUT really folks - they pull it off. I arrive on a Tuesday night to the LARGE 'lobby' filled with accolades and awards to be told there is a 15 minute wait. Ok, a 15 minute wait in AlbeBFEmarle NC? I wait. I wait about 5 minutes and my name gets called on a PA system from a woman I can't see at the time. I enter through a solid-oak door to find myself placed into 1994. The restaurant is large separated distinctly by walls and half-walls. I score a booth, which makes me feel guilty as I'm dining alone. I am quickly welcomed by my waitress Stephanie who brings me a water, a garafe of water, a container of ice, a loaf of pumpernickle bread, crackers, some butter, and cheddar cheese spread. The accolades in the lobby give this place quite a bit of credit for their wine list. I bite and look over the list, which is in a 1" 3-ring binder, btw. I order a bottle of Bobby Mondavi pinot to have the waitress me it is unavailable. My next choice is a Kenwood Reserve pinot, which is also not available after her 10 minute search. So I am a little speculative about their wine awards, but I settle on La Crema pinot which she found. $28 for a 24 dollar bottle retail is pretty awesome price. The meal starts with a typical 'steakhouse' salad. Bleh. I go with an 8oz filet mignon and steamed broccoli. Ok, here's the twist : the steaks are stonegrilled on piping-hot North Carolina flatrocks. This is something I've never experienced in all my dining. My steak arrives sizzling with a slab of bacon wrabbed around it and two onion rings on top. I'm not a bacon on my steak kind of guy, but I go with it. This steak has five-star flavor and almost propelled me to give this place a five-star rating. The dessert - red velvet cheesecake. Ummm..yes please. At $6.25 a slice, this is a deal. really, must order on your next trip to Albemarle. I managed to polish off the bottle of La Crema and proceed to the cash register to pay my 55 dollar bill. This was well worth the cash. I stopped in for dinner while traveling through the area and was not at all impressed. I found myself back in time eating at a below than average steak house. My steak was way undercooked and had to be sent back. I finished my side order while waiting on my steak to be cooked so when it finally came out the outside had been charred to death and I had to eat it all alone with no sides. Then when asked to see the "legendary" cooking stone I was turned down. That means they must have been cooking on a ROCK or something. I so wanted to give these guys a great rating. But seriously, I've had much better service at less costly establishments. The server tried, but she really needs some lessons on service. It took quiet a while just to get everyone a glass of wine. After bringing our salads she asked if we wanted fresh ground pepper to which most in our party of six replied 'yes'. We waited a few minutes only to see her come back to take the order of an adjoining table. We had to reach out to another server to get pepper. We had two glasses of wine (from the house merlot) and ordered two more glasses only to be told we had drank all they had. I then I ordered a bottle and she only brought two glasses. I had to ask for the bottle. I had steamed broccoli which was cold and the baked sweet potato was about half the size of a hotdog bun. The cattleman's fillet was anything but tender but was cooked mostly as ordered. Deserts were good and the company at dinner was great. For the price paid, I will drive a few miles more. The steak was amazing. Sides were good, except for my salad was skimpy while my husbands was falling out of the bowl. The score is related to the waitress, she was rude and absent. My husband and I both ran out of our beverage, she acknowledged this, left the area, came back with another tables bill, took they're dessert order, left the area and delivered the desserts. My husband caught her attention as she went to leave the area again. Meanwhile the younger waitress in the room was phenomenal and actually helped us out while managing her larger parties. read more

Be prepared for a wait if you do not have reservations most any night. (No reservations on Friday or Saturday nights so be prepared). Cooking is done over granite stone that has been heated to super high temperatures. All steaks are cooked ONLY rare, medium-rare or medium and are Angus beef. My husband and I are welcomed by lovely waitress who brings us a water, a garafe of water, a container of ice, a loaf of pumpernickle bread, crackers, some butter, and cheddar cheese spread. The meal comes with a salad, one side and the meat. The salad was ok. I prefer a spring mix, to iceberg lettuce. Cherry tomatoes, onions, bell pepper and croutons. I chose the New Orleans Broil-10 oz. seasoned with a blend of spices that are on the hot side (a cut of sirloin with a very spicy rub) cooked medium with broccoli as the side. My husband had the Yadkin Valley Ribeye-10 oz. aged and well marbled (medium rare) with mashed potatoes. Both steaks were cooked perfectly. Nice, juicy and tender. The meal was wonderful. I cannot speak to the wine or alcoholic beverages as we did not partake in these beverages, nor can we speak to the desserts but the party at the next table did partake in dessert and it looked wonderful. The atmosphere was casual, quiet and very pleasant. However I would not recommend this steakhouse for small rowdy children. It isn't dinning at Ryan's, Texas Road house or some other chain steakhouse. There were no children in the steakhouse at the time we dinned, so I am not sure if people bring smaller children to this restaurant. I would highly recommend if you are in the Albemarle area that you make it a point to stop at this steakhouse. I used to live in the area when the steakhouse first opened and recently moved back after being away for 10 years. The quality of the food has not changed over the years. This is the second time I have ever written a bad review on a Restaraunt and I have eaten at many many places A group of 6 went there on SAT night Sept 29.2018. After waiting over an hour we were seated. The waitress came a short time later took our beverage order. The tea had about a tablespoon of ice in each glass that was melted before she brought the delicious bread out. We placed the order about 45 minutes later the waitress came out and told us they were out of mashed potatoes would we take baked and we said yes they were over baked in fact the sweet potato was burnt,one order was Ceasar Salad, no parmesan cheese, I asked for blue cheese dressing guess they were out of that too I guess for what I got was mayo with sugar in it an one piece of blue cheese the size of a small pea, could not eat the french onion soup had burnt onions and a nasty dark yellow cheese which was not eatable one person never got his steamed broccoli, they were out. The steaks were way over cooked My husband grilled onion & pepper over his steak consisted of one small sliver of onion an three small sliver of peppers never said a thing After speaking to another staff member we asked where our waitress had disappeared to? She finally came and we asked for more tea with ice Well they had no clean glasses and we would have to wait for them to be washed, the ice melted before we could drink it. We asked her what was going on she said oh they are training at least 3 people in the kitchen and no one knows what they are doing and we can't get enough peope to work so we are short WHY WOULD YOU TRAIN PEOPLE ON A SAT NIGHT? They had set an extra glass of tea on our table finally a man from the next table seeing no one was drinking it said that must be my tea I asked for 30 minutes ago he said I see you are having the same problem as we are everything we ordered was undercooked and tough steak He and his wife said they would never come back As we left the Cashier asked if everything was alright we began to tell her She said how much tip do you want to leave ? we told her only 10% She said sorry no sincere apology what so ever or please give us another try. Im giving these people two stars only because the soup was good and the waitress we had did a great job. Outside of that, worst steak Ive ever had. It was like cutting shoe leather. Manager came out and gave me attitude, the hostess gave me attitude as I was leaving.. all because THEY brought ME a piece of tough steak and then couldnt make up their mind what they wanted to do about it. First they told me they were going to cook me another, then they told me the cook refused to cook me another, then they told me they were going to take it off the bill, then they told me they were going to cook me another one. My wife had finished eating well over 30 minutes while this game went on. I finally just tried to leave, didnt ask for the steak to be comped or anything but the cashier called the manager out who got furious with me and made a sarcastic comment as he walked off and grunted at the cashier to comp my meal. I had been there a year ago and it was delicious so I took three of my friends there Saturday night and it was awful. The staff were not friendly. The waitress was so slack. When we finally got our food it was cold. We had to flag down the waitress to tell her the food was cold and she just acted like it was okay. She never asked if we needed steak sauce or what she could do to make our meal better for us. The quality of food has gone down hill. They were known for their mashed potatoes being awesome but what we got this time was a baked potato mashed up. The steak was not anywhere the quality or taste that it was a year ago. Salad came out of a bag. When we got our bill and started to go to pay the waitress came out with one ice cream sundae for all four of us. We told her we did not want it and went on to pay our bill. I asked the checkout lady if we could get a discount for such a bad meal and she said no. I did tell her we will never be back. If they want to stay in business I think they need to go back to the way it was. read more
