    Bangers and mash

This place is absolutely fabulous!! The decor is superb and the Irish music is wonderful and makes you feel like you're in Ireland. The food was fantastic! The portions were larger than expected and the prices are incredibly inexpensive. My wife and I both had soup (steak and ale chowder) which was great. I had the bangers and mash and my wife had the shepherd's pie both of which were excellent. Finally, we each had cheesecake and coffee and were not disappointed. Our server, Sarah, was on her toes and very helpful. If I lived closer I'd be there every week. I have nothing bad to say about this place.

The business is just adding lunch hours. We tried them out for brunch. Our favorite menu item was the pretzel fries which came with beer cheese for dipping. The Irish Greens were served with Utica Greens which were spicy but delicious. We think the Irish Greens should be served with bread or pretzel fries to offset the spice. The burger was delicious and cooked to the requested doneness. It was served with house made chips. The Guinness Meatballs were very tender. I would have preferred if they were served steaming/warmer when they arrive at the table. They were served with marble rye. I would order again but would order a side with it. The waitress was helpful and friendly. The interior was clean and looked new in the dining areas. The bathrooms looked dated compared to the rest of the facility. Overall, we enjoyed it and would return. The patio looks like a nice place to spend time.

This is a brand new Irish bar/restaurant. The service is amazing and very attentive. The food is top notch and authentic Irish food. The atmosphere is great along with good prices. We ended up meeting the bar manager who was absolutely one of the nicest people you will meet in this industry. There is an outside patio with a fire pit along with favorite rooms for rentals. There is also plenty of parking.

The Five Points Public house and event center is quite a special place that was a long time in the making! It houses an Irish cultural center, event center, and public house bar of which was constructed in Ireland and shipped to Utica. I couldn't wait for it to open and to come explore as I highly value my Irish heritage. We came around Happy Hour on a Friday night. It was only a few weeks into opening so they had a limited menu. We were given a quick explanation and tour by the enthusiastic and friendly hostess. We then chose to be seated in a cozy corner room decorated with many Irish accents and steins. Our waitress came right over and was amazing. We ordered drinks, waters, and were brought pub chips for the table. We ordered a few things off the menu to share. For starters we had the Irish Greens, which were a great take on the Utica staple complete with corned beef. They were spicy but not overpowering, just flavorful. Next was the broccoli cheese soup. Now I am a big BCS fan and this version was phenomenal. The broccoli was obviously fresh, not frozen. The soup itself was flavored just right and was perfectly rich. It came with some of the most yummy baguette I have ever had. If this was the preview menu, damn I cannot wait to try the full thing! There is so much attention to detail here it is a true work of art. There are many seating areas but all sectioned off so each one feels cozy and intimate. The bar itself is large with plenty of seating. There is a huge outdoor patio available for the warmer months. We peaked into the event center which looked really nice. We didnt see the cultural center, not sure it was open at the time. There is ample parking around the side and back of the building although we noticed many people parking on the street too. This place is a wonderful addition to the becoming revitalized downtown Utica area!

1894 Cornerstone from church that previously stood on the site

Fantastic and beautiful place, with a great story behind both the building and the history of the Irish in Utica (where the digging of the Erie Canal started, initially dug by hand (?!?!) .... by Irish immigrants). The food was also great (really great), which is suprising because we Irish are not well known for our cuisine! The building is meticulously constructed with painstaking detail (I got a tour from the developer) and the 1894 cornerstone of the church formerly located on the site is prominently displayed in front of the building. A truly special place.

However, if there is a chance that Swifty's management may read this, along with fellow diners, it may be helpful for the future. The overall experience, food, and service was good. Clearly, this place and its 2 sister locations know how to be successful. But what we experienced could either be because a rogue chef or location manager is trying to cut corners - or - it could be the philosophy of the company to try and nickel-and-dime the customer to reduce costs and take advantage of those who won't notice. My boys and I ordered 20 wings to start, my oldest had a burger to follow, and my younger really wanted to focus on wings, so only ordered fries. I had the. Cheeseburger wrap with onion rings and coleslaw. Wings: crispy, tasty, and really good blue cheese. BUT...when they came to the table, the baskets looked light. So... WE COUNTED THEM. ONLY 17. My (as the menu clearly states) "half pound burger in a wrap" was probably 1/4 of a pound light. Wait til you see the photo. So, all the good service and reasonably good food was ruined by Swifty's trying to either take advantage of customers incrementally hundreds of times a day (order by order) - or - they have a location chef and manager who tolerate food leaving their kitchen that is not as advertised or up to the standard which allowed them to open 3 locations. It's one or the other. Will we be back? I don't know. We really wanted this to be great. We live in the Northwest Corner of CT, my son goes to college in Rochester, this location is literally (to the mile) half-way between. We make the trip weekly due to his athletics schedule. We wanted to be regulars. Will probably look elsewhere next time. 2 stars for the front of the house service. It was excellent. And the blue cheese dressing. It was fantastic. If you go - count your wings and make sure what the menu says is on your plate.

Amazing dinner at Packy's tonight!!!…read more It was relaxing, comforting and perfect as usual. This is not your typical bar food! This is lovely pub fare! We started with BBQ Pork Nachos which were smothered in a tangy sauce and cheese. The pork was perfectly cooked and it all meshed together fabulously. Next week got the Chicken Devonshire Salad. There were large, tender, moist pieces of chicken which tastes like they were carved off a roasted chicken. The veggies were al dente and paired so well with the balsamic dressing. Would totally get again. The chicken tenders and sweet potato fries were a great way to finish off. Needless to say we brought home enough for another meal. Will be back again soon for another amazing night!

The most serious issue was that my mother's meal contained a hair. Finding foreign objects in food is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the restaurant's food preparation practices, kitchen cleanliness, and overall attention to health and sanitation standards. This is not a minor mistake--it is something that immediately destroys a customer's confidence in a restaurant. Unfortunately, the problems did not stop there. The quality of the food itself was extremely poor. The meals lacked flavor, appeared carelessly prepared, and did not come close to meeting the expectations set by the menu or the prices being charged. Every aspect of the meal felt rushed and neglected. Restaurants are responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, quality control, and customer care. Based on this experience, Packy's Pub failed on all three. Incidents like this make customers question what happens behind the scenes if something as obvious as a hair in a meal can make it to the table. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience deserves to be shared so other customers know what to expect. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously, reviews its food handling procedures, reinforces hygiene standards with kitchen staff, and makes meaningful improvements. Until those issues are addressed, I cannot recommend Packy's Pub to anyone looking for a clean, enjoyable, and professionally run dining experience

The average wait time is 20 minutes beyond your reservation time. Once you are finally seated, the wait staff are knowledgeable and friendly and will help you select your evening repast. And then you will wait again. Typically at least 20 minutes for your food. For your drinks, for your appetizers. It wasn't always like that. There is an internal inefficiency in their kitchen operations in recent months that results in delays. They seem to have enough staff. They just seem to have lost their rhythm. The ambience is lovely, the table settings fine. But there are little things that are slipping. As you can tell from my many reviews of this restaurant over the last several years, this beautiful establishment has achieved four stars. But today in June 2026, their beautiful cuisine is served on nice porcelain plates, but their coleslaw is served in a paper cup. The music is way too loud so you can't have a conversation at the table unless you scream. And they claim to not be allowed to turn the music down. They clearly cater to the 30 and under crowd. The 60s and older are not a priority for them. Wine is properly served, and the drinks are nicely mixed but to get a refill will take you a very long time. When the tables around you are empty, it begs the question as to what is the cause of the delay. My last two dinners here experienced these inexcusable delays. I hope they get the problem straightened out. Because this really is a destination restaurant.
