I cannot say enough good things about the owner and staff of Hotel Solsville. We had a fundraising event / benefit there last night and we were completely floored by the generosity of these folks. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure everything went without a hitch. We have been to Hotel Solsville quite often to watch the live bands, have dinner and drinks, we've ALWAYS had a great time. There are two different sides of the establishment, the dining room where they have a pretty comprehensive menu and offer a prime rib buffet on Saturday evenings. The bar offers a complete bar and a pub menu. The food at Solsville is always fresh and flavorful, well prepared and great quality. I highly recommend Hotel Solsville, even if you're not local to the area, it's worth making a trip. read more

we love this place but today wasn't their best. Its our first Bloody Mary's here; while the mix was tasty, no celery no olives etc. we then ordered a Jumbo Pretzel ($9.99) and it was still cold inside as was the side of cheese. so...just stick with a cold beer and burger or wings. read more

We stopped in after the Madison Boukville Antique fest. My friend had been here once before so we came on her recommendation but it was my first time. There were a handful of people at the bar, and a party of 4 in the dining room where we sat. The Yankees game was on mainly for the bar but could be seen from our table. Our server was quick to make us feel welcome, bring us menus, tell us about the specials and take our drink orders - we kept it light with Iced Teas. Honestly I didn't even look at the menu since one of the specials included a Utica Greens sandwich for $12.99. My friend opted for the chicken version and I opted for the Philly steak version: sliced steak, greens and mozzarella cheese on a toasted roll. A side was included and I chose sweet potato fries for an additional dollar while my friend got regular fries. Our drinks came and the waitress chatted with us when she brought them. She then returned to our table to let us know that they were running low on the greens so since we'd both ordered the sandwich special she was taking $2 off our bill since we weren't getting the normal portion. That right there earned her a great review. That was very considerate of her and much appreciated. How many places would admit to that AND proactively reduce your bill? Our food was out in a very timely manner and was top notch. The roll was toasted just right to be crisp but soft and not crummy. The greens were nicely mixed into the shaved steak and the sweet potato fries were also crisp on outside yet still soft on the inside. Ranch dressing was offered for those but I declined. We had our drinks refilled, ate all of our sandwiches and were offered dessert but we did pass on that. We did however make plans to return for dinner as we'd like to explore the menu some more. read more

Currently dining at RBBQ in Madison NY. My first choice and stop was Solsville hotel around 4pm tonight (8-24-2024). Rude rude RUDE bartender. No hi how are you. I asked about what tequila they had, but could not finish my drink order, she continued to cut me off demanding my ID. I told her yes I understand, I gave it to her after searching for it for only a few seconds. I had to leave. I will not spend my money for horrible service and tip rude people. We come to interact with the staff & have a good time. My family probably has the record for the largest bills and tips. I had my baby shower there. So very disappointed. Hope to come back someday soon when she is NOT serving! read more

Beer is cold. Bartenders are sassy. Food is great! And best of all, you can come as you are. But you do have to have on some clothes. Lots of dining room space and when it's nice out, the beer garden out back is great for bikers. read more

Not a great atmosphere, but great food at good prices. The Hotel Solsville is an old, dark bar/restaurant not too far from Hamilton NY. It's not much for vibe or ambiance in any way shape or form. Having said that - it's a popular location and serves a great lunch. I had their Philly cheesesteak and it was excellent! Sliced steak loaded with cheese, peppers and onions. Delicious! My wife had the fish fry and she said it was great. They also have a decent craft beer selection and the service was very good. If you want a modern vibe and ambiance - I would say you would want to pass in this place, but if you want a good meal, good service and a reasonably priced lunch, then stop on in. read more

Lots of action and good food all week. Nice for a country hotel. Spacious with two large dining areas, an entertainment area and a bar. This is a nice down-home place to visit half-way between Utica and Hamilton, NY. read more

Great atmosphere and really yummy food! My parents always come here, and I love coming with them. It was a Monday night, so they were only serving "bar food". I'm not sure how the menu differs though, because I got an 8oz steak with onion rings, my dad got a chicken sandwich, and my husband got wings. Everything was delicious! i had a Saranac Blueberry Blonde as well - typically I like a really hoppy IPA or Ale, but the bartender recommended this, and I'm so glad I took her recommendation! This was a waste of my time We were there for Fish Fry Friday---and I am not a fish fan. So I had the chicken and biscuits, which was 95% gravy and 5% chicken. Recent visit on a Saturday for Prime Rib Buffet was a big disappointment. The meat served was not in my estimation, prime rib but sirloin tip. It was over done and dry and when I asked for rare was told they could not cut into another piece until that currently on the cutting board was sold. A far cry from my visits in the past when real prime rib. bloody rare, was available. Perhaps the new cook is not as talented as the one who left.
