Gotta give 'em five stars! Ever since I had the brilliant idea to get my entire left forearm covered in a sleeve of my favorite flowers in every location I travel to in 2022-2023, I am unstoppable (okay, I decided it on my flight from LAX to NYC on this trip, but I tell you, I'm putting FEET TO MY DREAMS MAN!) My niece and I were determined to make our tattoo dreams come true on this one-day business trip and man, Five Points helped make it happen. We both got small floral pieces done by Paulo Benevides. The guy who is a receptionist there was go-between and after we both sent emails to them with ideas for what we want, Paulo freestyled his way through both of our pieces. She went first and then I went. Both pieces were stunning, I have to say. Staff and Paulo were super-nice and accommodating. Paulo wanted to make sure that each piece was exactly what we wanted and did an amazing job on both. Prices were completely reasonable and the tattoo itself was gorgeous. I had a tattoo planned out in my head but hadn't quite picked a place and spotted the store and walked in on a whim. It was a very good whim, because they did a great job. My tattoo is of a phrase in my parents native language, and I'm amazed that the tattoo artist was able to hand draw the writing with perfection. He was also able to work around a substantial scar on my wrist that no no longer looks hideous because it's incorporated with the tattoo. Finally, I have no pain tolerance and was of course squirming and whimpering the entire time, and the guy who did my tattoo was so incredibly patient and kind with me. Was there on my honeymoon, checking out the Ghostbusters firehouse that is just a block or two away. My wife and I walked by this place and decided to pop in to see if we could get inked, me for the first time. They drew up the Ghostbuster's logo from an image I sent them to perfect specs, placed it on my arm exactly like I wanted, and tattooed it with incredible precision and amazing artwork! During the entire time we were there, the entire staff and clientele were incredibly nice and complimented our tattoo choices. My artist was pretty jazzed to put this on me as my first and kept up great conversation. My wife who has had many tattoos commented that such a tattoo shop like this can be rare; a place where everyone was so positive and inclusive. Walked into Love Hate Social Club and wasn't sure if I would be able to get any ink done, but Love Hate was able to fit me in and work within my budget which was awesome. The chick at front counter was cool and very helpful and looked after me. I have NEVER had a tattoo in my life and I am in my 50's. I'd thought about it a few times but never went through with it. So I finally worked up the courage last week. Since I work close by, I walked into Five Points Tattoos in SoHo, which I heard has a great reputation; and decided to go ahead and set up an appointment. The place is really clean; plenty of hand sanitizer around and everyone was wearing a mask. They follow all COVID protocols so you should feel comfortable. The artwork on the walls is breathtaking. The following day I went in and set up what I wanted with Will. He designed my idea just how I'd pictured it. There was very little pain in this process. He explained everything thoroughly to this "first timer" with patience and understanding; really nice guy. My tattoo took about 45 minutes to do after an an hour or so of consulting and designing. Will is obviously a real pro and I suspect all the artists there are as well. If I ever decide on an additional tattoo, this is my place,no question. After a couple days, no soreness, no redness; it looks amazing and I feel really good about this new experience in my life!! My wife loves it! These people are so rude. Me and my friend went to get a tattoo, a small sunflower, and the guy at the front desk looked at it for 5 minutes and said $250. And we were shocked as both of us have had small tattoos (and large ones too) and it was never this pricey. So we just asked, mind you very kindly, "oh why is it that high" and idk if the guy was having a bad day but he was very condescending and told us maybe we shouldn't be so spontaneous and that no place in NY would do for cheaper blah blah blah, bottom line he was very rude. Very hostile staff. Requested money back over the deposit amount and they refused to give it back. Do not leave money over the deposit amount (which is 100$) or they will scam you for a tattoo you never received. I left 200$ and asked for the 100$ back. Staff told me to leave and threatened me saying it was "for my own good." Staff member was a Anthony, heavy set guy with gauges. Yeah then a large muscular Asian man told refused to let me in to get the managers number. I ended up having to call the police. Still waiting for my $. But Paulo is super nice and he's very focused when doing it which I loved. Everyone there is AMAZING. I went there for my first tattoo and although we had some issues with payment, they were very accommodating. They gave me enough time to get the payment together, worked with me with the design that I wanted, the artist did an amazing job, and they even gave us an umbrella because it was pouring really hard outside. Set up with Jimmy (artist) who took my thoughts and translated it to paper. Right on point! Clean lines and great shading (inside the clean lines). No blowups anywhere. These guys are obviously riding the reputation this place gained from being featured on the NY Ink TV show. No one from that show is there anymore, and the "artist" we were talking to about getting a tattoo was using the guy at the front as a go between to discuss what my wife wanted. After about three rounds of having this guy draw up a simple design and having you wait for the go between to deliver it to us, we decided to walk. I have never not been able to discuss the tattoo I am about to get with the artist prior to getting it done. I don't know who this guy thought he was, but that is not the way to do business. There are many other places to get your tattoo other than this tourist trap. read more

I walked in at 12 pm on the dot this afternoon. After showing the design I was looking to emulate, Rodrigo drew it up and took me back. He positioned my tattoo in the way I envisioned it and asked for my input on the colors (since I didn't want standard American Traditional colors). He outlined and did color on the first piece of my half sleeve in about 2 hours. It looks spectacular...I would highly recommend Rodrigo! read more

As a birthday present for my step-daughter, a tattoo enthusiast, I gave her a few shops and artists to choose from so that we could get matching tattoos. Needless to say, she chose this shop and she chose Guy Waisman. From the first email I sent, to the follow-ups, booking and deposit, and showing up, this shop and team were nothing but cool and professional. The quote didn't change, the price was reasonable (remember, cheap tattoos are never good and good tattoos are never cheap), and Guy was totally cool while delivering two matching inverse mandalas - she's stoked and so am I. In New York for a family vacation from England with many sites to see on our itinerary. To visit 5 Points was top of my list and so pleased I did. I took a chance on a walk in and was so pleased when I was told I could have a slot. Rob was my artist and stopped what he was doing to accommodate me. I gave a description and Rob produced the drawing and ensured it was correctly sized for my thumb. Excellent tattooing by Rob, keeping me at ease and comfortable even though I am 70% covered it's nice to feel comfortable. Rob completed my tattoo and even though it's a small NY on my thumb it's one of my favourites and best tattoos I have. The staff are so helpful and accommodating, the shop is clean and well presented and probably the most professional shop I've ever been in. I wish I could've had more but on a short stay it wasn't possible. Next time I'm in New York I will be looking to book in for more. Thank you all for an excellent time and experience. Favorite shop in the city. Clean and cozy and chill. Everyone is really nice and all the artists are pretty dang skilled. Rob Banks is my go-to artist but I don't think you can really go wrong with any of them. Also side note, it's always the perfect temperature in the shop which you'll only appreciate if you've gotten work done in a shop that's freezing/too hot. read more
