Came here for Mother's Day today. The restaurant was packed and it seemed warm inside, but we luckily were able to snag a table out on their covered patio. The food was great and the staff were extremely friendly and attentive for how busy it was. We ordered the bruschetta, calamari, filet, caprese salad and the chopped salad. Everything was delicious. We were even given two free desserts for two birthday celebrations. Cocktails were also refreshing. Highly recommend making a reservation on OpenTable ahead of time. Five recently became mine and my boyfriend's favorite restaurant. Our first impression was easily the setting, cozy and inviting vibe right off the bat. Secondly, the service is always 10/10. They're pretty busy most of the time, especially the weekends on late afternoons so they might take a minute or two to get to the host stand or table. Personally, this doesn't bother me at all considering their entire staffing is super friendly and makes up for waiting an extra couple minutes. (Also grace points because they're always busy, as they should be, food is amazing) To my final point, the food is AMAZING. Every single thing I've gotten here is a complete hit. I've only been twice (I've literally recommended probably all of my friends, family, coworkers- you name it) but for me- wanting to come back to a restaurant within a week of last visiting means they're doing something right. Our quest to find new restaurants in 2022 is off to a great start. We dined at the Five Restaurant Bistro on a very busy Saturday night; we were delighted. The dining room has an eclectic collection furniture that you find in neighborhoods bistros. The big difference is the ceiling, it has padding to dappen the noise of the busy restaurant. Additionally, the outside eating area is delightful; it's filled with heaters and fire table. The combination of inside and outside settings overcome the stigma of the strip mall setting and busy street. It's simple yet delightful menu is full of its twists on old favorites; it's supplemented with a daily fresh sheet that is worth checking out. I enjoyed a fabulous dish of sausage rigatoni. This drink menu also limited but delightful, the wine list is extensive. I highly recommend, I will be back. read more

My fiance and I came here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary with my 5 year old and sat outside, this was in July. We ordered a bottle if wine, oyster and bruschetta apps, and then an entree each, plus dessert. Server sequence was a little slower than expected but I can have patience for this as we were celebrating, despite the restaurant and patio being 65-70% full. When I asked where they get their fish (I work for a major seafood food processor and distributor) it seemed like a taboo question and felt as if the server became annoyed. Again, fine, no big deal. Overall the food was good and the ambieance was delightful, but it was the auto grat on a party of 2.5 without being told that was the most offensive. Our total tab was $165, and to be charged auto-gratuity tells me the server was either trying to double up on his tip or felt we wouldn't tip appropriately. As a veteran server of 10 years from Bellevue to Auburn, this was dishonest and offensive, and because of this I will not be back. 2 of the 3 nights I have dined at Five have been a bust. Don't get me wrong, the food here is great but the clientele not so much. My first dining experience here was for a first date. As I walked in, I was acosted by a drung guy who was fan-girling over my hair and outfit. Much to my chagrin, he was at the table directly to my right. After giving this person a brushoff stating I was on a date and wanted to pay my attention to my date, I thought it was over. Nope. When my food was delivered, I was pulling tails off schrimp and clams from shells. Just as I'm about to take my first bite here comes a hand that procedes to take the bread off my plate. It was drunk guy from the next table. I then summoned the server and told her what happened. Her reaction was to say "so does that mean you want more bread?". She did absolutely nothing about drunk guy and proceded to continue serving him drinks. Tonight, we came here for date night. We arrived super early and took two seats at the bar. We were having a great time and enjoying our meal. I'm literally mid-bite and some guy walks up and asks us to move down so he can have 2 seats. I'm a little put off but stop and move down (plates, drinks, coats, handbag, etc). As soon as we're moved over, guy proceedes to take his coat off, unleashing a brick wall of BO that slammed into me like the force of a typhoon. Needless to say my appetite was gone. We got our check and left as soon as possible. I feel the need to add that there was PLENTY of seating in the restaurant at this time. I felt it was extremely rude and inconsiderate of this person to interrupt my meal to ask me to move. If we were just having drinks that's one thing, but to move us mid meal is just selfish. I don't know how I have managed to miss this place for so long. I once had a meal here a decade ago with a co-worker and friend who received a gift card for them. I remember the food being good but having just returned recently I can confirm they are better than ever! It is easy to drive right past on your way to downtown Edmonds but you shouldn't skip them! They have the cutest walled garden patio with such a lovely ambiance. My friend and I came here to celebrate NYE - I made the reservation a week in advance and we had a really nice time with only a few other diners in the cozy and warm space. No blankets needed! I don't think there was one standout thing from the evening here as it was all a 5-star top-notch experience. From the start to the last bite of dessert - truly it was a memorable evening and I look forward to supporting them in the future. I was very underwhelmed by my dinner experience at that Five. My friend Ryan had the goat cheese flatbread and fish tacos and I had the Chimichurri skirt stake. The flatbread was delicious, the fish tacos are ok, and the Chimicurri sauce is not very cilantro-ie and excessively salty. I still remembered by very first lunch being amazing, and I would probably still come back for lunch (assuming it's still as good as I remembered). I was searching for aesthetic places to eat to celebrate my birthday. As I was searching, I chose this place because of their lovely patio seating, and it looked perfect for a hot summer night. I made a reservation 4 days prior for my birthday for a table for 4. There was a section for "NOTES" and I put "Please seat us outside patio seating for a BIRTHDAY celebration." One day before, I confirmed my reservation via text. I came right on time for my reservation. I was greeted and they told me "do you want to be seated now indoor or wait 15 minutes for outdoor." Uhhhh I wrote it in the notes section?????? I think they just disregard the notes because they totally didn't do anything special for my birthday, like say happy birthday even though we mentioned it later. Aaaanyways, I was HANGRY and flustered because this was my first social interaction (COVID lol) in a while so I just said inside. No outdoor seating for me We sat there for like 10 minutes before getting asked if we wanted to have something to drink. It's like they forgot even though we were literally in the middle of the room. Then after we got drinks we were neglected again and I think I had hangry puppy dog eyes that a different waitress just served our group. We ate. I had the salmon. Food was SO good. Around the salmon there was a sauce that was *chefs kiss*. It's been a few days and I'm still thinking about it. The meal was so filling I took home half. We got neglected again for a while but whatevs. Then we ate dessert and we had the cookies topped with ice cream. No "happy bday" but it's chill. I had a small group of 18/19 year olds, and the tables around us with older people had waiters that were talking and coming back to them more often. I paid $120 including tip for a group of 3 people so I feel like the customer service can be improved. In summary, food was AMAZING. 10/10 will come back. However, I am giving 3 stars because they really need to work on customer service skills and their reservation system, especially considering the prices of their foods. read more

The staff was super attentive and friendly which was a feat considering how busy they were but everyone had a smile on their face and truly looked like they enjoyed being there. We ordered the bruschetta and arugula salad to share as apps and both dishes were light and bright to get our appetites going. For entrees, we had the seafood pasta, chicken piccata and flank steak. All three dishes were cooked to perfection and super delicious with plenty of leftovers to bring home as late night snack.
