Vegetable dumplings were blech. Vegetable moo shu was fine. My husband rates his sweet and sour chicken 3.5-4 stars. This restaurant serves Japanese, Chinese, and Thai. I'm always a little leery of places with large menus spanning multiple cuisines like this... With good reason. read more

I was visiting my daughter at Penn State and she raved about this place. She said we had to go before I went back home. Im glad we did. The food was excellent. I had the General Tso's chicken. The chicken was moist, the shrimp fried rice was excellent and so was the shrimp roll. My daughter had the Pad Thai and I was surprised at how large the portion was. Ordered take-out last night, had the shrimp & scallop (spicy) and the hot & sour soup (also spicy). Both were excellent choices. Rice was simply plain white long grain rice, didn't appear to be the short/medium grain sticky rice. Overall very good food! So good I ordered dinner from here two nights in a row! read more

A Couple years ago, me and my family were just coming back from a shopping spree at 2 malls we all were very hungry so we went into this restaurant and they did not have many food options they crayfish was sitting in ice and was not cooked, there rice had no flavor, and there was little desert there are more chairs and tables then actual food, the next morning I woke up with diarrhea and constantly had to go to the bathroom because I ate their nasty cold crayfish. My family decided to give it another try since it had been a couple of years since we had been at the establishment but nothing had changed their food still tasted the same and there booths are sticking and it is very hard to get the employees attention even though they were only about 2 families in the restaurant. Delivered after 50 minutes and a phone call reminder. The guy who dropped our food off at our room was really nice and apologetic. The food was horrible - the chicken was questionable of what type of meat it was. The lobster sauce was anything but. The drunken noodles were just super spicy noodles. On a stopover for a trip, we stumbled by this hidden Gem of a restaurant in the Laurel Mall. All I can say is nom nom nom! Spare Ribs there are off the charts and is a must try at this resto! I've tried a lot of ribs, but these are hands down one of the best! With a variety of choices on the menu (Chinese, Japanese, and Thai), you cannot go wrong with any of the food items there! Be sure to try one of the house special sashimi salad! Throw in phenomenal service there, and this place is deserving a 5 Star nom! read more

This has been our go-to Chinese restaurant for many years. They serve Chinese, Thai, and sushi. The service is great and the food is superb. It has been voted Hazleton's best Chinese restaurant for several years. It is a busy place but you will rarely wait for a table. They recently remodeled and now have a fully stocked bar. Amazing! The miso soup was delicious! I'm eating my spicy tuna and spicy salmon rolls right now and I am in love! I should have ordered more gyozas because they did not last! My boyfriend enjoyed his sweet and sour chicken way more than where we get ours back in Missouri! Not bad, if you're looking for the typical Chinese food - this isn't it. While it was good, it wasn't what we were looking for. Which I guess isn't necessarily a bad thing for everyone. I had a problem with food missing from my order and after some debate they fixed it.The order itself also took about an hour to arrive but it was Saturday night and I suspect based on my experience and the other reviews delivery might not be their strong suit. I do want to say The food itself was very good..I really liked the Tom Kha Gai, I think eating in is probably the way to go. read more

This is one of the first places I ever ate Chinese food! I remember coming here after church in Sunday's and loving it! 20 years later not much has changed. The food is still just as good as it's always been! They now offer sushi, Thai and Chinese foods...but I had the sushi once and just stick to my chicken and broccoli or the chicken and sting beans. read more

Large menu with Thai, Japanese and Chinese options. This was our first time eating here. On the table they have a basket of fried wontons and sweet and sour dipping sauce waiting for you,which we enjoyed. We started off our meal with soups I had the hot and sour ,my partner and son both ordered miso soup. For our meals i had the chicken pad Thai, my partner got the general tos chicken and our son had the chicken and broccoli. My family and I enjoyed our meal and we will most likely be stopping by to give this place a second try. read more

This place is disgusting! First off ordered take out and gave me the wrong order. They wanted me to drive all the way back. They finally had delivery driver bring food and wanted to charge me $9.67 difference. Once we finally got order we ate 2.5 hours after the fact. Within 2 hours 3 out of 4 of us were sick as dogs vomiting!! I would not feed this food to my dog. Will never eat here, order from here or refer anyone to this DIVE!! read more

Great atmosphere and quality food! I eat here many times a week. I am diagnosed with severe OCD, so obviously cleanliness is a huge factor for me when I eat. This place is very clean and lives up to my expectations. The people who work here are caring! The owner, Mike, is a very good guy, so I really enjoy giving him my business multiple times a week. The sauces they use for some of the dishes are amazing, especially the brown sauce, which is my favorite. The boy who works behind the counter and cashes the customers out is so kind and cute. Yummy sushi! This was my first encounter with sushi served on a boat. It was great!! I have been here many times and love it! I like that i am able to get the sushi I love and my family can get Chinese that they are used to. Because of this restaurant, my son now loves octopus!! read more

Less than satisfied with the food and service. Recently moved into the area and called on a Monday only because Asian Wok was closed. Ordered a quart sweet and sour chicken and a Philadelphia roll. The sweet and sour chicken arrived with the sauce already on it, leaving for soggy breaded chicken that fell apart while removing it from the container. When I called back, I was informed that you must ask for sauce on the side for any sweet and sour items if you would like them to come traditionally. Call me crazy but that isn't a common practice and I feel that I should have been forewarned about that. As for the service, I stated my house number and street name for where the food should be delivered. Clearly the person taking my order had never heard of my street before and replied in a very condescending tone with "and where is that, I don't think we even deliver there". I live under 3 miles distance to the restaurant. Upon finishing getting my information, I was informed that my food would take "45 minutes to an hour or maybe even longer" and the phone was promptly hung up. I was unable to get a total price to have money ready for the delivery driver. When the food arrived an hour and fifteen minutes later, the chicken was warm and as a direct result so was my sushi. Lesson learned, maybe I should lay off the Chinese food on Mondays. read more

I have eaten here twice in my stay in Hazleton. The first time I went and dined in. The second I had take out delivered (YES DELIVERED!!!). I will review them both. Dining in- I had trouble finding it because my navi took me to some odd place on the other side of the mall. But I was able to find it in the strip mall in front of Boscovs. At first glance the decor was nothing fancy. They had these bowls of fried chips with some sauce set out on all the tables. I didn't try them. It seems like a waste to me and they should probably consider bringing them out after you are seated as some people wouldn't want them and it makes me wonder if they re-chip? The waiter was very friendly and prompt. The menu selection is HUGE. Offering Chinese, Thai and Japanese. I opted for Pad Prik Khing, Tofu, Medium spice. It was delicious! The green beans were crisp and fresh. There were other veggies like baby corn and pea pods. The sauce was the perfect flavor, dark brown oyster sauce. But it was the Tofu that got me hooked. It was perfectly cooked large pieces, fried to perfection on the outside, and soft on the inside. Melt in your mouth! I just wish there was more brown sauce with the dish to soak into the rice. I also had an order of Edamame. The price was right and it was under $20 for large portions. Excellent despite the outward appearance. I decided to give it a second go. See below. Delivery- I was stoked to find out they do delivery. I'm staying at the Hampton Inn and the front desk told me, as it is not listed on the website or Yelp/Urbanspoon. To my surprise there was no delivery fee. It was pretty late too. I called in the order and they told me it would be about 45 mins. It was on time and that was even after the driver went to the wrong room and had to call and find me. In his defense the number did look like an 8 and not a 5. Everything was nice and hot and they included plates, plastic wear and chopstix, as well as all the usual condiments. This time I couldn't decide what I wanted so I got Pad Thai with Tofu, medium,an avocado roll off the sushi menu and another order of Edamame. The pad thai was great. I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about with the tomato sauce flavor. It was tangy, sweet and spicy. The way i like it! loaded with noodles and some veggies topped with crushed peanuts. yum! The Avocado roll had huge perfectly ripe avocado chunks rolled in rice and nori. It was great. It came to $22.25 and like I said there was no delivery fee, so I gave the driver a nice tip. I would most definitely recommend them. I ordered Pad Thai. I have had this dish hundreds of times in other cities(I live in austin tx) It's my favorite Thai dish. When they served it to me I go this isn't pad Thai. He goes I know but this is how the people of Hazleton like it and if we make it the correct way people won't like it. News flash if your not going to make it correct then don't call it pad Thai. five star was once the best Chinese restaurant in town, but now it is the worst. since new ownership took over, the plates are chipped, service is terrible, and the food tastes terrible. the place that was once great is now the worst restaurant in town. if you want good Chinese food, go to china top in Cunningham, they have the best Chinese food. read more

This was not a place I expected to find good sushi. I was wrong. I'm also not one to "rave" over something. I'm making an exception. I've had a lot of sushi from many different places all over the country. I can only speak on behalf of one roll (red devil [it is not very spicy...just enough]). It was super fresh and the flavors were VERY well balanced (a lot of times I don't even know there's fish in the roll because of all the "extras") the selection is small (sushi only...main menu is pretty large) but i'll take better quality over variety any day. read more

I normally would order take out from this Five Star Restaurant, and have eaten in a few times. The last time I ate there, I forgot to leave a tip, the waiter noticed right away so instead of asking me when I went up to pay my bill would you like to leave a tip?, instead he followed me outside and stopped me and my 2 children asking me "why I don't leave tip?" I was stunned. I handed him 2 dollars and later went back and approached him about it. He was EXTREMELY rude and loud. I tried to explain that I had forgotten to leave the tip. I asked him if my 2 bucks was worth it to him because that is last he will see my hard-earned money. read more

I consider myself a pretty forgiving person. But the service was by far the worst I've experienced. I had to look at myself to see if I was dressed like a bum or a homeless person or something. But I felt like I was treated like I was wearing some orange prison jumpsuit with a gangster face tattoo. Few words were said to me, from the "host" (no hello, no right this way) to the waiter (put a glass of water down then left). All I remember was "what can I get you." Then the only time I saw him was when he brought my food and then when he brought my check. Nothing in between, no can I get you anything else, not even a thank you. And it wasn't like they were busy, maybe 5 tables going. The place also looked like it could use a good cleaning and sanitizing. You're probably wondering, we'll was I rude from the start or looked grumpy or mean? I have a rule in restaurants, I'm all smiles and cheer until I receive my food, and even after because I don't like confrontations nor do I think complaining makes any difference anyway. The food from five star is good, but I just had the most infuriating experience with not only the delivery driver, who extorted a large tip out of my family because she did not have change, but the manager as well. The driver came and I wanted 2$ back she of course did not have change. After I told her I only wanted to give a 3$ tip (our food was over an hour for delivery, with no warning of it being busy when we ordered) she said, "it's twenty minutes out here and 40 minutes round trip, do you really think $3 is feasible?" I was dumbfounded! I, myself was a delivery driver and would NEVER argue with a customer over tip!!! So I called the manager of the restaurant, expecting an apology. But after he said "oh sorry", he proceeds to tell me that with the cost of gas and all, I really shouldn't complain. And if it was that big of a problem, I should pick my food up from now on!!!!! So I told him that I may choose another restaurant to order from and he argued that he shouldn't lose a customer over this. Maybe he should have just stopped at sorry. read more
