I've been here 5 or 6 times. Sometimes alone. I like them because they're clear on their pricing and they do a good job. The manicurists make sure that you get the nails you'll love. I give them 4 stars because of time management. The wait can be long w an appt. My daughters and I love this place. I don't understand the bad reviews. We've been going here for years. They don't speak much English, but we are always happy with our nails. They do get very busy on week-ends. I recommend weekdays. The older woman who always does my nails takes her time. She is very careful. My daughters report the same with their technicians. The decor isn't great but it's silly to pick a nail salon based on decor. I always find this a friendly place too, maybe because we are regulars. read more

Jason at "5 Star Nails" gave me such a beautiful manicure I can't stop looking at my nails. I have never seen them look better. He suggested the dip manicure and it's fantastic. He said this particular system is less toxic and better for the environment. This means a lot to me and Jason is excellent. OMG, so happy. read more

I recently visited this place again after some good pedicure experiences. This time, I had some acrylic. Not only was the polish job think and noticeably unprofessional, but they would not fix the design that I paid for (during the drying process, it has started to shrivel and I suspect it was because the paint coat underneath it hadn't fully dried before application). When I went to another place to have it fixed 2 days later, they also pointed out that the acrylic application was already showing growout, something places to so you'll go in and spend money on a fill sooner. There is not much customer service here. the ladies are standoffish and a bit rude but they get the job done. I went the other day and had a similar experience to one of the other reviews, I was rushed to pick my color, the lady that did my nails went so fast that it hurt and i bled. My advice is to go somewhere else that has better customer service AND does a good job. "AND is always better". read more

i was very skeptical on going here due to the rating, Not true at all. I went to a spa last time for my nails and they were falling off after 2 weeks. They did a very good job here on my fill in and repairs. Very conversational. They know their regulars by name. I will definitely be using this place more often. It is wonderful people and great work. They could use some updates and remodeling but I don't judge by looks. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Their pedicure is less expensive than other shops and their no chip is as well. My first visit went well but my second visit was horrible. I got a no chip on my hands and a pedicure. However the no-chip manicure cracked on every single hand. I've never seen that before. So I go back to the shop a few days after to have them looks at their crappy job and the guy J gets an attitude and tries to make it seem like he doesn't remember me coming in. So I show him my bank statement with the purchase on it and he still is rude and belligerent saying he has to check the tapes, to make sure I'm not trying to pull a fast one. I know for sure there aren't many black people in this area so I know he remembers my face. I believe Vicky was the only one that was polite and apologetic. The guy that fixed my nails did not apologize for the inconvenience and made it seem like I was inconveniencing him. None the less, just go elsewhere and spend your money. I wish I had the option of giving this salon a negative Star. I have been to this nail salon about 5 times. Everytime I go there Vicky or either Jason is rushing and not doing anything but complaining about their personal Family problems. It's obvious Jason hates his Job to the core and is only doing Vicky a favor by working there to make some extra cash and Vicky is so stressed out of her mind that she just come to keep that nasty ass nail salon open. They are Rude, unprofessional, not patient at all and not the best techs. Next time I will most definitely go to my guy who I usually go to when I'm not in a rush, so he can give me a real no-chip full set instead of this old outdated piece of shit they put on my nails. Btw thanks Jason for not giving me my length and shape I asked for... telling me I need my nails short to whoop my kids ass. Fuck you!!! Just left after getting mani/pedis with my mom and sister, and we had the best time here! They listened and did great work for the price. The no chip manis were efficient and lovely. And they use disposable liners in the spa pedicure chairs so it feels extra sanitary. All in all a great local place! Thanks! read more

A day ago was my first time here since my friends all come here and I was excited so I picked my color and he said the color was too light and wouldn't show so I was a bit disappointed but after he did my nails he recommended not thick nails because they look too fake I just get worried they'll break off but I went along and they came out great! & was cheap! Not my favorite nail place in Wheeling. I would suggest driving a few more minutes down the road to Shirley Nails (As I did in the first place, but they weren't available at that time). Not a single person was talking when I walked in the salon creating an unusual atmosphere. In addition, I had a woman who did not know or understand the English language (which is most cases would be fine) but she couldn't understand the very basic which made it hard for us to communicate-specifically about my nails. The final nails were decent but that was only after me asking her to fix a few things along the way (cuticles, filing, etc). I would not recommend this place to anyone and I did find it odd that a big sign reads " No Public Restroom"? Although, judging from the filthy, unorganized disaster inside the nail place I would probably pass anyways. read more

The first time I went to 5 star nails I had a pedi which barley lasted a month. I also have had a few bad experiences with Vicki who is extremely rude to her customers. I came in for a nail repair it costed $5. I had no cash on me and they wouldn't take my card unless it was 10 or more. She told me I better come back right away with the money. When I came back she did not say thank you. She talked in her language to her coworkers. Most places would say next time you come just remember you owe me 5 dollars and not make a fuss about it. Another time I called in Advance for an appointment they asked me for my information and when I came for my appointment a few days later Vicki was working on another client and told me that she did not have any appointment with my name on it. I was so pissed and I left. Never get a regular mani it will only has for 2 days it not worth it. I will never go back there to be treated this way again! read more
