The original owners were great, but it's all gone straight downhill since Storage Rentals of America purchased it. They immediately removed our nonprofit charity discount and raised our rate to a laughably outrageous $235 a month. The place is not being maintained properly. Sometimes the lights work. Sometimes the gate works. Sometimes the door keypad works. Most of the time, they don't. The entryways are deteriorating and you have to lift your dolly over crooked, uneven steps to get your stuff into the buildings. And then there are the squatters. 99% of the time, you'll find these Informa Business Systems vans parked at your storage building, blocking the doors while people sit in camping chairs and "work." Constantly. We have many photos of them, hanging out, blocking customers and definitely not working. Business as usual at Storage Rentals of America. Take your hard-earned money elsewhere or prepare to be screwed, over and over and over.

We had a teak dining table and 8 chairs (total weight of 420 pounds) that we needed to ship from Lansing, MI to Scottsdale, AZ. We initially tried to find a "less-than-full-load" moving company provider that could add our items to a load. No luck. We then checked with a package shipper. They advised us that they couldn't handle the items, but suggested we contact Craters & Freighters. We found that Craters & Freighters had offices in many locations throughout the USA. We contacted the Detroit location and spoke with Sandy. She was very helpful and professional in working with us to arrange the shipment. (We found that the rate was reasonable and comparable to the rates if we had found an acceptable "less-than-full-load" moving company.) When the shipment arrived, we were blown away by the quality of the packing. The shipment was contained in 3 large crates. The furniture was very carefully packed/padded to prevent damage. Once we unpacked the items, we found to our great satisfaction that they had made the long trip without incurring any damage. The end-point shipper contracted by Craters & Freighters - Detroit was XPO https://www.xpo.com/. We were also very pleased with the quality of their delivery service. Dave, the driver for XPO commented to us that in his experience, Craters & Freighters provided exceptional service - noting that many of the art dealers in town frequently used them for packing and shipping artwork to and from their galleries. Patriot Moving Systems caught my attention so I called them to get more information. I talked with Dennis to get answers to my questions. He told me they are full service, meaning they will pack as well as move your household contents. You also have the option to do your own packing. One place I called pretty much only loads and moves your stuff so you have to do your own packing. Patriot sells boxes and packing materials but also suggested Home Depot or Lowe's but said he actually prefers and recommends getting these from U-Haul as he thinks theirs are better quality and sturdier. What I like is the way Dennis explained our options without overly promoting materials through Patriot. He also explained the rates for their services. Basically it is an hourly rate per person plus a trip charge and cost of the truck usage. He came out and walked through or house and then was able to give us a rough estimate of the number of hours we would likely need. We planned to use a staging company so we needed to pack some things to thin out certain areas like closets and kitchen countertops. So we arranged for Patriot to send out three people to box and move things into the garage for three hours and that was a big help. They were focused and hard working guys who went practically non-stop for the time scheduled. Whenever there was a question about packing certain items they asked about it. I could tell that they all knew what they were doing, their experience showed and they treated our things as if they were theirs. Delicate items were wrapped well for protection. Our move is currently on hold as we continue to pursue selling our home but Dennis checks in with me periodically to see how things are going. I will update this review once we actually complete our move but we know who we trust with packing and moving our property.

I used Two Men and a Truck for my move from one condo to another. Being a single woman moving, I…read morecan say that the quick quote response via email made scheduling and estimating costs, from Paige and Courtney in the Fraser office, so simple and accurate. I've never moved on my own and the ladies were extremely patient and helpful. I wasn't sure of the exact day of my move and they were amazing at working with me to look at options and sent me detailed estimates for both a weekend move and a weekday move. My two movers showed up right on time, Dave and Zach. They were AWESOME. I was nervous knowing that complete strangers would be handling all of my personal belongings, but they were so friendly and answered all of my "first time moving" questions. They started the official start move time AFTER they looked at everything and planned how they would take it all down to the moving truck. I was moving from a second floor condo to another second floor condo; that was no problem for Dave and Zach. They took great care taking apart all of my bedroom furniture and wrapped everything to ensure nothing would be damaged. They managed to lower all of my patio furniture from my second floor balcony with ease. Some of the single lights and things that were too big for a box but too small to list as move items for the estimate, they took as well. These were items I was planning on coming back for and moving myself. Because they took EVERYTHING in the moving truck, I had very little to put in my Jeep. They even made sure to take great care of the signed Zetterberg jersey, packing it last. :) When they got to the new second floor condo, they were great at asking me where everything was to go. They did not randomly place things or just start stacking boxes everywhere. They even took the time to put felt pads on my big furniture items to protect the new wood flooring I had installed! I would give Dave and Zach 10 stars if I could. They never stopped, took zero breaks, and made the most out of every minute, keeping my cost down significantly. As soon as they were done unloading the last item in the moving truck, they announced the time so that we could note it and not pay for any time that wasn't directly involving moving. I paid for two movers who worked so productively and I would hire them again in a heartbeat. I do not know these two young men, nor do I have any affiliation with this company at all. Two guys showed up with a huge truck; took about 2 hours to load and drove the 60+ miles to my new home. I explained that I would have to leave before they finished, so I could drive back to Dearborn in the daylight (eyesight issues). That's when it all fell apart. I went back the next day to find plastic wrap strewn around the house, leaves all over the inside of the house, items left wrapped, a dirty bathroom and smoke smell. I contacted Fordson, and was told a slew of lies the worker told him; He said I told them not to enter the garage, FALSE. He said he couldn't find anywhere to dispose of the plastic wrap - THERE WAS A GARBAGE CAN IN THE DRIVEWAY NEXT TO THEIR TRUCK, I was told they aren't responsible for cleaning up after the job. I told Fordson I felt taken advantage of, being alone and older, and that his employee was lying. They made no accommodation and essentially blew me off once they were paid. My Advise: WATCH THEM EVERY MINUTE and make sure a man is around. They will lie and cheat and take advantage of a single woman. BEWARE.
