My wife ordered chicken nachos, I had the walnut chicken salad, we shared the cauliflower popcorn, and our son had Mac and cheese. The walnut chicken salad was a modern classic--fresh arugula, perfectly roasted beets, crisp chicken, and a tangy mix of vinaigrette and chèvre cheese. The cauliflower popcorn melted in your mouth. My son's Mac and cheese was honest to goodness homemade comfort food. Had a great time at the party they had last Saturday. Live bands out in the parking lot with great music, food and drinks. The weather started out kinda bad but the afternoon got better later on. Visited and had the Tuna burger. It is seared Tuna on a bun with a soy flavored sauce and wasabi slaw. It was very good, sort of like a sushi taste and I love sushi, but the slaw made the bun soggy. I actually think it would be fantastic without the bun. The atmosphere was nice and I liked it enough to come back again to watch a game. I had the boneless wings and fish tacos the second time. Wings were average at best. Fish tacos (a specialty) were not very flavorful, and it is very questionable whether the fish was actually Mahi. We came here on a Friday night. We asked if there were any deals. We were told late night happy hour prices. Service was great, as was the food. When the bill came, regular prices were listed. Stopped in for lunch and asked the waiter for a recommendation- he said the blackened chicken quinoa salad is their most popular lunch item- sounded good! When it arrived, there was about 3oz of chicken and about 1 cup of spinach- no feta at all. Needless to say, for $15 I was very dissatisfied- I mentioned this to the waiter who then sent the manager over, she comped my ice tea- really? But asked if I wanted to order more food. I have been to Five West on several different types of occasions: party gathering, dinner and breakfast. Overall, I'd say this place offers pretty good food at a reasonable price. I especially like to have after-church breakfast at Five West. Again, the price is very reasonable and the service is good. It gets a bit noisy in there, but I am able to handle that pretty well. The after-church breakfast is something we do with friends, and one of those friends is pretty grumpy when it comes to food appreciation. The last three times we have had breakfast at Five West, the food is only lukewarm. Today, the hash browns and eggs were cold. I've asked to have the hash browns replaced two out of the last three visits this summer. Once the (replacement) hot hash browns arrive, I can use them to warm the eggs. My friends, on the other hand, get pretty sullen and grumpy with the cold food. Can't really blame them. I like Five West, but I'm about out of options when it comes to steering these friends to come with me. Can't figure out why they can't get a hot, even warm, Sunday breakfast to the table. read more

I came here with family after my nephew's graduation. He recommended it. I liked it. Its a big restaurant with lots of TVs. So you could watch sports when you eat. My family is from Minnesota so were really happy when the Vikings were playing. They have a good menu. I decided to take a chance. I like fried fish sandwiches, but have never had luck with walleye. I'm not a fan. But to their credit, it was really good. Had this been the first time I tried walleye, I would definitely have tried it again. our party had many different things. Their pizzas are good(especially the mushroom gouda and the BBQ Shortrib), their sweet potato fries and burgers were really good. That's the nice thing about going to lunch with a big party...You can try a lot of things. The service was attentive and good. Came here for dinner with coworkers and was pleasantly surprised by the decor and food. It's a sports bar with a pretty large seating area and has clean and modern interiors. Service and food were excellent, I got the quinoa burger and it was filling and delicious. My coworkers liked their meals too, except for one who thought her Cesar salad had too many pickles. Portion sizes are decent and prices are reasonable. There is plenty of parking space. But nope, no non-dairy creamer. Egg Rolls (literally Egg Rolls stuffed with scrambled eggs and served with "homemade" sausage gravy. 90% WonTon wrapper and 10% egg. Saves money on eggs I guess. Gravy Pro Tip - drain the grease before you mix in the milk, etc. so you don't have a puddle of pure grease floating on top. Salmon Eggs Benedict. Kudos to upscaling this traditional breakfast fare, but when you specifically ask how I want my salmon done (thank you, I like it rare and ordered it so) then don't serve me scraped up bits of over-grilled salmon mush. This restaurant was very good although their prices were a bit high in my opinion $20-24 for an entree is $5 too much in my humble opinion. A really great restaurant! We've dined there two nights in a row. Both times service has been excellent. This evening my husband had several dietary restrictions because of some upcoming blood tests he's having at Mayo. Well, our server took his lengthy list of restrictions to the kitchen and asked the chef what he could do. They altered our entre pick to make it work. It was great! So thoughtful. Nicer restaurant put out by the owners of the Loop Bar guys (Downtown Minneapolis, St. Louis Park, etc). A lot of the same menu items, but with some more upscale options. They have a similar happy hour to the downtown location-- late night HH means $6 pizzas and they are quite large for the price! I had the Philly pizza and could barely finish half. The inside looks similar to the SLP Loop, but a little nicer. It has the same open kitchen and booths in the middle, with a decent sized bar. Seems like it would be a good place to watch a game, if you wanted to go a little more upscale. The patio is also nice, although it does overlook a fairly busy street and not much else (unless you're into man-made lakes). read more

I stay away from meat as a rule- I hate to say I'm vegetarian because I'm not all that strict. Anyhow, they had several great sounding veggie selections. I went with the veggie lasagna and it was amazing! Not your typical lasagna, more like a layered creamy, smokey, slightly spicy polenta. My description does not do it justice, but it was the best meal that I've had out for a long time, you'll just have to trust me on this one. Washed it down with one of the many craft beers on the list. My husband enjoyed his burger, although it was a bit messy. His side caesar salad was huge, I ate half of that. The food was luke warm at best.When I explained what we experienced they said it could be that the chafing dishes could not keep the food warm when they were opened and closed so often.
