Stumbled upon them when I had to use AAA to tow my car to a mechanic, and I was new in the area. They do excellent work on my car. Hard to find a good honest mechanic these days, but these guys are great. They explain what is wrong, and allow me to fix as much or as little as I'd like. Their prices are pretty much in the same ballpark as others, so I consider them reasonable. Thankful they're not too far from me, so I can drive to them in an emergency. My 2004 Ford Explorer needed to be towed from the corner of Little Clove Road and Northern Blvd on Staten Island, N.YI waited 2.5 hours for a tow on Thursday. September 14. I called AAA at 3pm. I never heard from a driver. The only call I received was from Phyllis at 3:45, she. asked me to wait another 1 hour. I clarified that I was not in danger, not in Queens but on Staten Island, and that I would wait. I called at 4:30 and was told to wait another 30 minutes. I had family pick me up at 5:15 as I was no longer able to reach anyone in the office. I received a call at 5:30 from AAA, that a driver was on the way. I never heard directly from a Fix a Dent driver or back from the office after 4:45. Totally displeased! read more

Contacted AAA for a tow, and they sent "Fix-A-Dent" Auto body. The Driver was incompetent and did not bring the proper tools to tow my car, A 2013Audi A6 Quattro. The driver called his dispatcher to ask for "help" because I did not have my car keys and I needed my car towed to infront my building. My car was in an impound yard where I just paid off the tickets but I forgot my car keys. I live all the way by the Ferry and did not want to pay another $50 cab home and back just for a key so I called AAA. These incompetent, uncourteous heathens showed up, questioned me like the car was too good to be mine and left. Not one word. The driver and dispatcher both have ego and attitude problems. When I made the call, I said I did not have the keys, so why would you come all the way knowing you cannot tow a car without the key and need extra tools? Don't ever support or acknowledge this business, they will waste your time and energy and leave you for dead on the side of the road. Ever go to a mechanic or body shop where they make you feel like an idiot for not knowing everything they know? This is not that place. Had a broken mirror body and ding in my door waiting for me when I got out of work on night. When I got to Fix A Dent, Sue was incredibly friendly at the front desk. John, the gentlemen who scoped out the damage, offered a paint-less repair on the ding (which saved me a bunch of money) and a quick replacement of the mirror. So this review is in regards to a towing experience. I called AAA to have a car towed to another address (Staten Island to Queens) to an individual I co-own a vehicle with. Pros: Super quick arrival time Cons: The tow man was absolutely condescending. To preface this, my friend and I called AAA twice to get my car towed. The first time the guy came, I approached the tow vehicle asked him if I needed to pull the car out of a spot to to make it easier for him. And he gives me the most condescending "slow down." He asks me for registration and insurance, which I promptly give it to him. He looks over my documents and asks what kind of car is it. I say it's a Honda Beat, it's an import. He says "it says Chevy on the registration" FYI IT DID NOT. It clearly stated 1991 Honda Beat, my last name was the next line which started with Che. So I thought that's fine maybe he misread. He practically throws my insurance card back at me saying he doesn't need it then asks for my insurance. I hand him the same piece of paper back and he doesn't acknowledge his mistake at all. Finally he asks for inspection, I say that it was in the sun visor as it's a temporary inspection sticker (i registered the car earlier that week) and he looks at it and says "it's expired" AGAIN completely misreading information or not caring, I don't know which. I reply "it says 10 day extension at the top, it's not expired" again no apologies or acknowledgement. The car is being towed from Staten Island to Long Island City. So the first time he refuses to tow because I wasn't the AAA member because my friend who called it was and he wasn't present. I say okay and the tow man drives away. Encounter #2 about 1 hour later: I get added to the AAA membership and call the tow again. He shows back up and says "how did you get AAA so fast?" I tell him that I was added and there was no card. And he says he needs to call the dispatcher. At this point I don't know what is problem is, and I ask him why he's giving me such a hard time. He ignores me and rolls up the window. After a few minutes he finally gets out and asks about why I need a tow. Frankly I was so frustrated I didn't think he was entitled to any more info other than that the car needed to be moved. During the loading process, he made me drive the car up the ramp as well, I got this car towed the day before and that tow man did not need me to lift a finger. Whoever this tow man is, you guys should absolutely have a conversation with him about how to interact with clients. He finally retorts before leaving saying "I'm not giving you a hard time, I'm just doing my job." If that was the case, there's no reason to antagonize the person who called the tow , because it just felt like he didn't like the fact that he had to tow the car to Queens. If you're just doing your job, then get the car to it's final destination instead of looking for excuses not to. read more

I will NEVER call Fix A Dent to tow my car unless I have no other alternative. Today, I called AAA to have my car towed so I could have it fixed. Some fat (white) guy arrived and asked me for my registration, license, and insurance papers. I informed the guy that I have to go inside the house to get the paperwork he requested. Not even Three minutes later, I returned and the guy was gone, WITHOUT an explanation. WOW, It was a good thing I was at home or I would have been stranded. My Truck was towed to Fix A Dent after I was hit by a truck that blew a Red Light. I was miserable. My truck was brand new and I only had few thousand miles on it. The guys at Fix a Dent convinced me to leave it there to be fixed. The thing that they said that made me come to that decision was that they not only did the body work there but they also did all of the mechanical work there. I had $14,000 in Damage. I never thought it would be the same. I called a few times and even stopped by a couple of times while they were fixing it. They were very helpful and very confident that I would be happy. Worst tow company I ever worked with. AAA sent them to my house, the driver showed up late, went to the wrong house and as i walked outside to wave him over he just left. He was on my block for maybe a minute. Got AAA to send him back, he shows up yelling at me that he tried calling and we didnt answer. I explained that was a lie, I saw him in the truck he wasnt on his phone calling anyone, he simply showed up and left. My phone was in my hand as i stood on my curb trying to wave him over. Then he fights with me that my car didnt even need to be towed, I asked if he was a mechanic. He said it's a flat just put air in it. I explained it's more than a flat, again you're not a mechanic and I'm paying for a service not your opinion. He then starts asking me for cash, claiming I'm only covered for 3 miles, the gas station he was towing me to was under 3 miles so I wasnt understanding what he needed cash for. He continued to berate me for money. I put my mother on the phone since she is the one who controls the AAA account and he started fighting with my mother, telling her to take deep breaths and relax herself he wasnt stealing her first born, garbage pails or her car. Like who says that to someone?! Then my sister tells him hes being extremely rude and he needs to watch who he is talking to. He gets in my sisters face and starts fighting with her right in front of her 4 year old son and countless neighbors that are now outside watching this savage fight with us. He then gets in his tow truck and leaves without towing my car for the second time today. Worst experience ever, do not use this place. I explained to AAA to NEVER send them to me again if I ever need a tow. I called Fix A Dent to complain about the situation, and the woman who answered was extremely unfriendly, and unapologetic about the situation. I can see where the employees get their hostility from. We were an hour a way from home, traveling to go away for vacation, when we picked up a screw causing us to blow out a tire. It was 7:30 in the morning. We were sent here by a local business, who couldn't help us. These guys and ladies (especially Sue at the counter) amazed me last week. I was traveling to Richmond, VA from Long Island when my car encountered engine trouble right after I crossed the Verrazzano Bridge. I was stranded in a torrential downpour with my dog in the car when a FixADent truck happened to pass by. The driver, seeing my hood up, immediately came over and offered assistance. He quickly and accurately diagnosed the issue and within the hour, I was towed to their shop. It was a Friday afternoon so I figured I wouldn't see my car again until possibly Monday as a dealer part needed to be ordered. Sue and another woman at the counter helped me locate a pet-friendly area hotel and I figured I'd be there for several days. To my surprise and vast relief, the next morning, Sue called me and told me my car was fixed! They did a great job and i continued my trip, arriving in Richmond later that Saturday afternoon. I purchased a battery from aaa two months ago the car started for 3 weeks after that,I had to call for a jump start. I wanted my battery replaced it's under warranty still but the technician that came named Anthony Hernandez. He didn't seem happy and said the battery was fine. I called again when it didn't start again and they tested it and said again it was ok. I called AAA got them to replace it fix a dent again comes back. And in the process he broke my hood release latch.he said because its plastic and very cold out I called the fix a dent office on weds spoke with a very rude dispatcher was no help and he seemed angry said he didn't believe his guy broke my car. I tried to call the owner jimmy and every time I call he conveniently wasn't there to answer the phone wow i cant believe a business is run like this i will now go threw my insurance with pop a lock much better service from them read more

I can't believe I am finally coming around to giving this place a review but it was always in the back of my mind and this place deserves five stars. My boyfriend and I were on our way to New Jersey and we ran over a piece of wood on the expressway (which many people ran over). The heat shield ripped off the bottom and was dragging on the road so we pulled over called AAA and after 45 mins someone came to tow us. once they got there they said they couldn't hook us up to the truck and would need a flat bed (we had told them this) so we followed the AAA truck off the expressway and they ditched us at a red light. We called AAA again and they sent over this company and they were great. The guy brought the flat bed and let us ride with him to the shop so they could fix it right there. They hooked up the car and in no time it was fixed. When it came time to pay... they said don't worry about it and fixed it for free. We thought we were going to have to cancel our trip but they were so quick and so kind we didn't have to. We were very grateful for all their help. read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. My car was towed here after an accident. I went there the day after and the staff helped me start a claim with my insurance. They told me not to let my insurance company try to pressure me into taking the car to another shop because there's some law saying that I have the right to have my car repaired wherever I want. When I was on the phone with my insurance, the agent asked me if I wanted to have my car taken to a Geico express repair shop so I asked about their locations. This place is about a 30 minute drive from where I live so I did want to have it moved to a shop that was closer. When the staff heard me asking they started waving their hands no, handed me some pamphlet, told me not to let the agent pressure me and told me not to hang up after I was done. I told them that she wasn't pressuring me into taking my car to another shop but I wanted to know the locations because this shop was too far from my house. They said they would have my car dropped off at my place so I wouldn't have to come back. One of them got on the phone after I was done and asked the agent if they knew about the law and etc. I felt more pressured by them than I did by the insurance agent. In the end I decided to leave my car there because other than the whole insurance thing they were pretty nice. Now, for the repair. The car was pretty badly damaged. They dropped off my car at my place as promised. It's been a few weeks since the repair and so far there haven't been any issues with the way the car runs. However, there was condensation in one of the headlights and the other one had some kind of stain that wouldn't come off. I was pretty annoyed that they brought the car to me like that and that I had to go back there. They did replace both headlights but I had to go back there twice because they had to order the headlights. read more

My daughters car was in our garage and the door was left ajar letting the battery drain Her battery is in the trunk of her Chevy HHR Upon calling OnStar for a jump the sent a tow truck The man tried a jump but due to his extreme size could not get into the back of the car. He insisted that we not take it to the place of our choice and he needed to get the key out of the ignition (If it was jumped the key would have come out) He proceed to take the dash and wheel apart (Imagine a tow truck driver) He then proceed to say he needed to take it in No w not having the car in proper gear He yanked it out of the garage braking the cement ( I have pictures) Took it to this shop and they said they would put all the parts back together and they added fluid but there seemed to be a transmission problem and returned the car Yes there is a problem They did nothing to fix the car and the transmission shops (3) all said this was caused by this experience $1800 worth of damages and fluids were not changed I have picture and parts to verify this story See you in Court read more
