I have been a member of AAA for nearly four decades. I can safely say this was - by far- the best tow truck service call I experienced. Jonathan definitely broke the record and helped me until the car was given the boost which was done efficiently and honestly. Further, he was very conscientious in going out of his way (I was his last client for that day) as he checked the alternator and battery, educating me as he encouraged me to ask questions. In doing so, he peaked my curiosity about the shop and the manager who has the wisdom to hand pick such a fine staff. It was inspiring to see how Jonathan focused on my needs while always accommodating the other cars in the extremely crowded McDonald's parking lot. He was courteous when other drivers asked him to re-position or move his truck. Yet, he still always maintained eye contact with me and never showed me his back. I thought I already posted a review a few weeks ago, but I don't see it. In any case, I brought my car to these guys for a 100,000 mile tune-up, for which a dealer would have charged at least $300 and I asked them to do more than what was listed in the users manual because it had never had a tune up. Certainly, they could have found some things wrong with the car if they wanted to. I even said to them, "check the clutch, check the spark plugs.) These are the most honest guys in the world. I walked out with a $40 bill including an oil change. This is not the first time they told me a repair wasn't necessary. When I last brought my car in for inspection, I asked them to check if I needed springs and/or shocks. They told me I didn't need anything. (Who does that?) I was driving my car yesterday and the engine light came on. I brought it in and after running diagnostics, they found that the strap that holds the gas cap was partially stuck under the cap causing a gas tank pressure leak, which triggered the sensor. (The last time I got gas was in NJ, where you can't pump your own gas.). I'm sure it took them some time to find the problem, but when I went to pick it up, they didn't charge me a penny. Where else can you get this kind of service today? Practically nowhere and certainly not from an auto repair place. These guys have me for life. read more

Joe and his crew have been my service station since about 2016 when we had to replace our dearly departed 2003 Prius. On a lark, I looked for a station near my work, as it's the only time I ever have to get my car serviced during the week. I've never been disappointed. He and his crew do my yearly inspection, and they've never overcharged me for unnecessary work, and they avoid overcharging on parts or whenever labor is marginal. Recently, my car had a critter get into through the undercarriage and dislodge my ABS sensor en route to making a nest. The crew cleaned out the car for me and charged me barely above cost on parts to replace the sensor (though unlikely circumstances conspired against our repair!) because I had recently done an inspection. They're class acts, and have gone above and beyond, especially during COVID. It's hard to friend friendly, safe (they're doing their best on masking and social distancing too!), and honest mechanics in NYC, to the point that the rarity of such things is a trope. I had the same experience as the other reviewer I took my car (2 years old and 22000 miles) for an inspection here because it was raining and I got lazy. When I went to pick it up I was told I failed for front brakes, they would be happy to replace them for $375 (I called the dealer they wanted $210). I also was told I needed an oil change( I changed the oil 8 days earlier). I refused to let them do work and paid the fee for the inspection and went to my regular station on Grand ave. & 74st. I was told the brakes were worn but there was no need to change them. I hope AAA investigates this station they are probably ripping people off daily. read more

Do not go here. I was brought here by AAA. I needed a new battery. They charged me $130 for a new battery with a 6 year guarantee. My car is 20 years old - there's no way that I need a battery with a 6 year guarantee. They insisted that I needed to get this battery and that was the only battery that they had. The last battery I got was $50 installed and lasted for 5 years. This place only sells Interstate batteries so be prepared to pay a lot. I agree with the other reviewers, this place needs to be spot-checked by AAA. I feel like I got ripped off. I could have gotten away with a $50-75 battery from Sears, etc. No need to upsell me on a product that I don't need. Also, the waiting room of this shop is literally 2 folding chairs in a dingy office area. They did service my car quickly and the staff wasn't rude or anything but I had the feeling that I was being taken advantage of and pressured into getting the expensive battery. Total cost for the new battery and oil change was $165. Unacceptable. read more

So when I left the business I always worried at be left to help me with any automotive repairs should I require. Mind you the majority of my people where in the city and the Bronx. Last night I was driving home from my job in Long Island when my abs light and radio kept turning on and off on the van wyck expressway, I thought it was pretty odd as I maintained my car pretty well. My commute is about 20 miles from LI to Jackson Heights. By the time I turned down my block my gas, ac, and all other possible lights were flickering off, I made it to my building where my car just shut off in the middle of the street (in front of my residence, thank god) called AAA and they dispatched someone from dry harbor service station. You should know that my career is in the auto industry, I sell Volvo's and I am a car guy and I am new to living in the city without a garage to work on my car myself. I don't know any shops near where I live, my best friend owns a repair shop in NJ and I usually take it there but I didn't have a choice as I needed my car fixed today so I can drive to work tomorrow. I asked the tow driver (Ron) if dry harbor could fix an alternator and he told me to call tomorrow morning, so I called and they brought my car by flatbed (AAA) to the station, Joe the manager gave me a price quote over the phone, very fair price, finished the job in less than 2 hours, called me and said it was ready. Hats off to Ron and Joe at Dry Harbor, I picked up my car today and was very happy that everything was fixed, they didn't try and upsell me like others would, they were honest guys doing what they enjoy. Everyone that I encountered there were professionals and I thank them for giving me great service when I really needed it. I just got a new alternator installed on a 2006 Toyota Camry for $500 ($100 for the labor, $350 for the alternator, and $50 tax). How did I do pricewise? I have little idea. I have AAA so they paid for the tow to the station. Joe was very helpful, offered good advice. He wanted to sell me a battery, but I can get that myself. Went for state inspection and oil change last month. Bill was as advertised. You can leave your car there in the morning and pick it up before they close. Went for oil change for my wife's car last Saturday. 30 minutes later and $20 after it was all done! Great deal! Would come again and recommend to others. read more

These guys are good but the last time I went here for an oil change, someone forgot to put the cap back on. I ended up spending over $1600 at a Honda dealer to fix the problems it caused running the car with out oil. Mind you I don't know anything about cars. read more

Found Dry Harbor Service Station by a neighbors recommendation. Was tired getting ripped off by the Honda Dealer. Joe at Dry HARBOR fixed my car air conditioner by replacing a small hose. Honda wanted $950 to replace some of the A/C system. Never looked back. Been over 5 years of honest service. Definitely recommend them. read more

I thought I posted a review here a while back but I don't see it. In any case: Came here a few months ago after freaking out at a nearby gas station due to a flat tire. A Good Samaritan who was helping me referred me here to Joe. I was already late to work that day and Joe and his staff were kind and fast, and most importantly, didn't rip me off. Came back here today bc the same tire all of a sudden had a drop in pressure and I needed an inspection. I could tell Joe was really busy but he was honest and said if I left my car there they would be able to squeeze me in by the end of the day. It's an easy walk to the Queens center mall, or the Costco shopping area nearby (15min) so I did that. Within 2-3 hours he called me back and was done with my car. And of course, that tire just has an affinity for nails, he fixed my tire as well. I know I haven't had major work done here but I like Joe's demeanor and felt really grateful for him after my first visit. Thanks Joe! I had an excellent experience here. I had my old car inspected and an oil change. I'm always a bit nervous getting my car inspected as you never know what made-up things the inspector might have. But the crew was friendly and I felt comfortable. They replaced one tail-light and gave me an oil change and the entire bill came to a bit above $60. The process took a while (about 2 hours) because there were many cars ahead of me when I arrived. However, they warned me of this fact in advance so I cannot complain about that. Be careful if you get your car inspected there. They will tell you up front that if your car does not pass, you still have to pay the fee. Once finished they showed me a tire that had a few nicks in it, but was no different than two of my other tires. In the end, they ended up selling me a tire. Otherwise, I wouldn't pass the inspection. I don't know if they do this often, but I felt suspicious and didn't think the tire was seriously worn. As an update - I went to the dealer A YEAR LATER and they said the other 2 tires were still good - though Dry Harbor was giving the BS that they were worn out and needed to be replaced. The AAA should secret shop them - as they are an AAA station. I wouldn't be surprised if they pull the same on AAA cars towed in. These guys are a scam. Don't go there. Period. Just as an update, and as another reviewer notes, these are the guys that come out when you call the AAA. I wish the AAA mystery shopped them or something. These guys are dishonest and don't deserve the AAA business. read more

Drove in a pit = flat tire and bent rim. Just about 2 blocks away from this place when I realized of the flat tire. Arrived here at 6:30am and they opened up at 7 which was great. Then the guy told showed me the bent RIM and how it can be fixed by taking it to another shop nearby who specialize in straightening of alloy rim, but also gave me an option of if I buy the tire from them (the flat one was torn by the bent rim), he will try to fix it. I agreed, he fixed it, the damage was about One Fifty. The guy was helpful and told me my options clearly with prices. I see other reviewers got some problem with them but I didn't take it for an inspection. read more

My Honda dealer suggested me to do a couple of fluid changes. Their prices are so high so I decide to bring in to this shop to check out their price. So I met Joe one day after work and their price for the same service is half what the dealer charges. Joe is honest straight forward tell me to bring in early in the morning to get it done. This place is a complete rip off! Do not go! You will get abused! They charged me $600 to replace a gas cap and said I a"had an issue with my intake". Then 4 months later my light is back on and low and behold my oxygen sensor went bad. They wanted $750 for a $200 job..... so do yourself a favor, take your wallet out and burn it. Good experience. A couple of weeks ago I needed a jump start for a weak battery, which a neighbor was able to do for me. Two weeks later, the battery was totally dead, as in RIP. Time for a replacement. This time I called AAA and within a half hour Dry Harbor made a house call and replaced my battery at a fair price. The guy was a gentleman, too. Note that this was on a Sunday even though the listed hours here show that they are closed on Sundays. Honestly I couldn't have asked for better service under the circumstances. read more

Camara towed my Honda Civic at 12:00am to the shop and though he was very upbeat and friendly I was really unsure what to expect here the very next day. I got a call from Joe in the shop and he told me that my engine failure was probably due to a recall that dated back to 2009. He faxed over his supporting documents and recommended that we send the car over to Honda and even recommended which service center to send it to. While driving the check engine light came on in my 2008 Honda Accord. I could feel the car hesitating when I accelerated from a stop. I took the care to Dry Harbor Service because my wife is a principal at a local school and knows Joe, who has always treated her, the teachers and the school very well. Joe told me that the 2nd piston on my engine was misfiring and was all stopped up with sludge. He also researched the problem and found that there was a recall and a class action suit for this very problem. I contacted the dealership where I purchased the car and Dry Harbor had it towed there. They diagnosed the exact same problem that Joe did and all the costs were covered under the recall. BTW, I asked Joe if they could fix this type of problem and he was very honest and told me that they didn't do that type of work when he could have tried and charged me. Ron the tow driver was terrific and even though he couldn't get the over tightened lug nuts off my tire to replace the flat with the donut (that he had already pulled from the awkward position underneath my mini van, he not only pumped up my tire as best he could but he followed me to a nearby service station to put more air in my tire and wouldn't let me use my own quarters. He was a gentlemen and made sure I was safe to drive home - giving me very specific instructions on speed and what to watch out for. Reading the reviews after the fact, I see that this is standard operating for Ron and Dry Harbour. They were sent by AAA and I am glad to know there is a reliable service station and towing option in my neighborhood.
