They were responsive but (1) don't use licensed electricians and charge the same rate as those who do, (2) charge a surcharge that is only disclosed in the fine print of their DocuSign which feels hidden and sketchy and (3) the same fine print allows them the ability to charge you for parking, which no other repair service has ever done and feels like a sign of nickel-and-diming. Skipped these guys, even with the good reviews. Went to Arnold Electric for the wiring and Rocket Plumbing for the wax seal replacement on my toilet. We needed some repainting done and called several places for estimate. Fix It People was the most responsive and courteous by far. The estimate was comparable to the other places as well. Tom came out right away to look at what we needed done. He took detailed notes and pictures. After our deposit, his team started a week later. Andy came and did a great job. He explained everything he was doing and made sure we were happy with his work. Andy also made the recommendation to get a door replaced instead of painting it. Hired them to install a new screen door, repair the brick moulding/trim around the door. I went through a handful of other contractors that flaked out on this project. I contacted Fix It People and they were able to send someone out within a week, the technician was ahead of schedule and asked if he could come early on repair day. He brought everything to complete the project and even took the large door box garbage with him when he left! I showed him a few other projects around my house, and they are going to get back to me with more quotes. Very professional, fast at communicating, and great work. I found them by seeing their truck go by one morning when I needed to find someone to do a painting job after getting an outrageous estimate from another company. I submitted my request online and they needed pics of the room and hall that needed to be painted. I also needed to have a ceiling fan and light fixture replaced and the pricing was within budget. I confirmed my date and I was told via email that we are set to go. I was told the job would take just one day so we set it up for the Monday before Thanksgiving. My first red flag was that I had no communication with them after signing the contract and setting the date. On Sunday, I was wondering if they would even show up so I called the company to a full voicemail and I couldn't leave a message so I sent an email with no response. On Monday morning, I called when no one showed up or called and the woman who answered had no record of my job - she said she'd call the foreman Mike that I had been dealing with. Mike called and apologized about dropping the ball by not putting my job on the schedule then he could not find my contract with any of the information that I had provided them: paint colors and had no recollection at all about the electrical work that needed to be done. We then went back and forth via phone and email about 10 times when I almost cancelled and finally the job was officially set to start the next day: Tuesday. He missed the part on the contract that statement that the trim and ceiling also needed to be painted which required him to amend the estimate. He said he'd stop by in the morning with the painter to meet me and he never showed up - he probably forgot. The job ended on Wednesday at noon and everything was done and the rooms looked great, I liked the new ceiling fan and new light fixture. However, the painter had removed the plate on plug behind my bed so I called him and he said he thinks he may have thrown it away; I found paint on the case of my tablet because he did not put the plastic over the doorway when he painted the hall and there were also spots where there was paint on my hardwood floors. I felt he was rushing to finish by noon on Wednesday. Overall the work looked good but the business part was a nightmare. Mike, the foreman, showed very little sincerity in his apology about the major customer service debacles. read more
