Our toilets had backed up so I called Fix It Quick for help. Armando answered my call and dispatched Ricardo to help us out. He discovered that as a part of a recent remodel we had done, not all of the sewer line had been replaced. A few feet of pipe that went under the foot of the house was the older, narrower galvanized pipe. The re-piping under the house had a wider pipe feeding a narrower pipe, which then fed a wider pipe as Armando had re-piped from the exterior of the house a few years back. I found that I had two back-to-back plumbing problems, from my under-sink water faucets, and then later my pressure valves in the the house and on the water heater as soon as LADWP turned the water on. As you know, when something strikes, you want it fixed quickly and without getting taken to the bank. I ended up with a quick response from their dispatch, who on both occasions sent out Phil. They removed the toilet and used two different kinds of machines to roto out the pipes. After it was cleared, he put a camera down the line to show me the aging of my pipes. Very informative information to make future plumbing decisions. When they were finished, they made every effort to wipe everything down with bleach. I'm literally writing this just as my estimate appointment's time was, with my issue already fixed in literally 15 minutes :) I saw the great reviews and wanted to call a local plumber to see what was going on with my garbage disposal. I hit the reset button underneath myself, which usually can get it if it's stuck. However, that didn't work and when you hit power, it just barely hummed, like it wasn't even trying to move. I assumed it was broken. I got estimates from other plumbers ranging from $350-$500 to replace it. I called these guys late on Friday and they still got me in on Saturday morning, 10a-11a window for an estimate, which was awesome with last second notice and on a weekend. Phil came out, great guy, great attitude, more than most grump a## plumbers we've had over the years. Small thing, which was cool is that he put covers on his shoes... usually not a big deal to most people but we don't wear shoes in the house and it's usually an awkward, "Hey, sorry... do you mind if..." conversation. So that was cool. Also, he was 15 minutes early, which is great because then you can get it taken care and get the weekend started. Anyway! Now to the great part yet. He checked it and didn't immediately go, "Yeah, you need a new one, that'll be $400 and we'll come back sometime next week." I told him we had it replaced like five years ago and he was like, "Yeah, it shouldn't be broken, let's see what's going on." I don't wanna give away his secrets but he tested it out then got some tools and fixed it on the spot. He was saying to not worry about it since it was an easy fix for him (and I'm glad he didn't make me feel stupid for not being able to fix it on my own, which a lot of plumbers do). Most places with Yelp estimates were coming in around $400, some $500, some $350. I was expecting to use a credit card to cover a new disposal if they had the part but most places were saying it would be a couple days, having to know what size of disposal to replace. I was expecting to use my credit card but he said no worries and I forced a tip on him. Super happy for sure, got it working for a fraction of what I was expecting. read more
