The food was really good and felt real homie! The oxtail were perfect and the gumbo had a really perfect mild flavor (only wish there was shrimp or crab in it). The fried chicken was cooked to perfection! I recommend!

Found this place lookin for a soul food joint. Almost didn't stop ain't no joint. We were hungry and hot so decided to go in. One of the best decisions we've made looking for good food. Outstanding service sorry I've forgotten the young lady's name. The food is as good if not better than I've eaten in our 30+ years of traveling our great America Looking for the special places. The manager visited & ever brought out the chef. My pictures don't give the plates justice. we live in Rogers Ar about one and half hours away and will make numerous trips to eat here again.

I visited Tulsa, OK for a research workshop and my hotel recommended Fixins for lunch. I was part of an 8-person group that stopped by. Fixins is a Soul Food restaurant that had a lot of favorites, but also has interesting takes on standards. For example, I tried the deep fried deviled eggs, which was lovely because there was a crisp flavorful crust, but when you bite into it, there is the familiar deviled egg taste. They added a seasoned cream topping with a bacon bit garnish. I also ordered the shrimp and grits. The dish was well seasoned and there were about six medium-sized shrimp at the center of the plate. The grits were mixed with finely diced onions, peppers, and tomatoes in a gravy that made the grits slightly liquidy in consistency, but the flavor made up for it. For an "authentic experience," I ordered the sweet tea; whoa it's sweet! And it know better! It's a large cup, so you are well served. Don't order if you have concerns about blood sugar! My colleagues also enjoyed their dished: fried chicken, potato salad...! We kept saying that we wanted to return to Fixins for another meal but we were staying in town long enough. If you're visited Tulsa, Fixins' is worth the trip.

Yum! Loved being able to try this spot out where the food was bomb, the customer service was incredible, and the culture was great! I ordered a two piece when I should've got a three piece! Those greens?! Baby!! Yes. Order them. I ordered peach cobbler to go, not sure why it was cold but maybe it comes prepared in a skillet?! Delicious nonetheless, but hated that I had to warm it in the microwave at the hotel. The wings were so good and crispy I came back for breakfast. The eggs were delicious and the portions were generous. I will be bringing my husband Warren Stewart Jr. to Tulsa just to eat at his old mentors spot, Kevin Johnson!

Finally got to try Fixins Soul Kitchen! A friend had told me about the one in LA, so when I moved to Tulsa and saw they had a location here, I was excited to check it out. I stopped by with a friend for dinner, and the place is very nice and clean, with a friendly and welcoming staff. The food was good overall. I ordered the shrimp and grits and if I see that on a menu, I'm definitely trying it and it hit the spot. My friend got the catfish nuggets, and those were really good! Of course, I had to get my go-to drink, a French 75, and it did not disappoint. I didn't get a chance to try the Kool-Aid (my friend told me I should've!), so now I definitely have a reason to go back. I'd love to come back and try more items and maybe even brunch if they offer it. Overall, a solid spot and one I'd recommend checking out!

I've been wanting to try this spot forever! And finally had dinner before a concert downtown. It was dead on a Tuesday night, and our server was so nice. It's a really cool vibe inside. I had a vodka kool aid, and it's exactly as sweet as momma makes it in the holler. Fried green tomatoes were crispy and delicious. Both biscuits & cornbread are delicious with specialty butters! My fish was perfectly fried. Mac & cheese has tons of flavor. But my favorite bite of the night was collard greens. Absolutely amazing! I'll definitely be back to try more menu items.

Well, I finally made it to Fixins to review their talked about fried chicken. And it did not disappoint. First off, the atmosphere is really nice. It's an upscale restaurant with a nice menu. Sorry, I can't tell you what else was offered on the menu cuz I only came in for 1 thing; Fried Chicken. The Fried Chicken came out hot and smelling great. It was crispy and juicy. I couldn't tell if they had brined it but regardless, it was juicy. The flavor was really Extra. I like my chicken simple without a lot of seasonings but they definitely had added some stuff in there. But that's ok, I ate every crumb and cleaned them bones like I was homeless. My only issue was that either they cooked my chicken a little long or the grease was too hot cuz the crust was a little dark. But still juicy so still good. Imma give it another try yo see if it was just one of their chefs was not paying attention or this was how they do it. The collard greens were good. Again, a bit over seasoned for me but I ate every bite. So what's up with no masked potatoes and gravy?? Fr? That was a shock for me. But I know all that takes time. But I need mashed potatoes and gravy and some home made biscuits to give it a 10, but I'm giving Fixins Fried Chicken an 8. Atmosphere and vibe was a 10 though. I'll definitely be back.

Our first lunch visit at this location. The atmosphere was nice and the decor was on point. The staff were friendly and the music was a vibe. A full bar inside if you want a cocktail. The fried green tomatoes were hot and crispy with a tasty dipping sauce. While our meals were delicious, I'd suggest serving the tartar sauce on the side for the fish sandwich to prevent messiness. My husband's dinner was a hit, particularly the fried chicken, red beans and rice, though the mac & cheese noodles were slightly overcooked. Side note: I love the wallpaper.

We like Fixins'! This was a great opportunity to find parking easy on a Saturday to see what all the food talk downtown was about. We are glad we tried fried chicken, greens, black eyed peas. I did. My husband had the pancake brunch option. Brunch is before 3pm on Saturday and Sunday. Sure is a popular hit in Tulsa!! Host and table staff are friendly and welcoming. Had an enjoyable time!!

Nice gem in downtown Tulsa. Both the food and drinks were good. The oxtail, greens and mac n cheese stood out in my meal. We had the fried deviled eggs and artichoke dip as well. The service and conversation with our server Kiara was great. Soft R&B playing in the background set the vibe just right. The place was clean and well lit. Can't wait to try something new next time

Fantastic food! Fantastic service! We had the fried deviled eggs, greens, ox tails , and gumbo. Everything was exceptional. A bit pricey but worth it.

We've been wanting to try Fixins since it opened a few years ago but rarely go downtown. Now we'll be headed downtown once a month! Better than advertised. I got the 2 Piece Fried Chicken w/ yams and greens and cornbread muffin. Wow! The chicken was seasoned perfectly. Not as moist as Eischen's chicken but still delicious. The yams and greens perfect! The rest of the crew split the fried fish and Mac. They said it was perfect! Service and the inside were great. Loved the artwork. Highly recommend! A little pricey but worth it.

Fixins is a soul food restaurant in downtown Tulsa. My first visit was in 2023, and I remember the food being outstanding. That time I ordered the catfish. This time I ordered the Oxtails. My order came out within 10 minutes. When it arrived to my table there was no steam from the oxtails or my collard greens. Hannah, my sweet waitress, warmed the food for me. I ordered a side of extra gravy ooooo weeee SALTYYYYY!!!! I'm really upset at myself for pouring it directly on my food. Hopefully I can do something at home to save the oxtails. I love the selection of music they play, especially on Sundays. But if you get the oxtails skip on the extra gravy

Before they opened for the day.

Most importantly, everything arrived hot and fresh, which I always appreciate when a restaurant is handling a large volume of customers. The service was friendly throughout my visit. The restaurant offers both dine-in and takeout options, with a good amount of seating available inside as well as televisions throughout the space. I ordered the four-piece wing meal, which came with two sides. I chose the collard greens and mac and cheese, along with the cornbread that came with the meal. The mac and cheese was the biggest disappointment for me. It was not particularly cheesy or flavorful, and it reminded me more of a stovetop boxed mac and cheese than a traditional homemade soul food version. It did not appear to be baked, although I could be mistaken. The collard greens were decent, but they also lacked some of the depth of flavor I was hoping for from a soul food restaurant. They were enjoyable enough, but not especially memorable. The cornbread was easily my favorite part of the meal. It was thick, moist, slightly sweet, and full of flavor. I would happily order that again. As for the wings, they were cooked very well. They were hot, juicy, and not dry at all. While I thought they could have used a bit more seasoning or flavor, the texture and preparation were excellent. One thing that did catch my attention was the dessert selection. Everything looked delicious, and if I were to return, it would likely be to try one of the desserts rather than another entrée. Overall, the experience was pleasant, and the staff handled the festival crowd well. While the food did not quite meet my expectations for a soul food spot, there were a few highlights, particularly the cornbread and the well-cooked wings.

I had a vegetable plate after staring at the menu and only seeing protein options of fish (swai, catfish, talapia), chicken, or pork chop. Black eyed peas were good; cabbage was over cooked beyond recognition and was brown; green beans were too salty, which I exchanged for mac & cheese; and the fried green tomatoes were sliced sandwich thin--the fry coating might have been thicker than the actual tomato slice. All I could taste was the fried coating. Another order was whole fried catfish, catfish filet, wings, mac & cheese, and green beans; peach cobbler for dessert and blue Kool-Aid. The cobbler was ice cold, straight from the cooler with soggy crust, no cinnamon/nutmeg. My vegetables were luke warm. Best thing for me was the cornbread and peas. $50 on mediocre food. Such a let down. I expected so much more. Wishing I didn't have a 2 day reservation, I was ready to get back on the road and head home.

The patio seating area was extremely hot, with little to no airflow, making it uncomfortable to sit for an extended period. We placed our order around 6:20 PM. Initially, the hostess advised against ordering the meatloaf, explaining it would take "a while" (about 20 minutes). However, when we asked the owner, Chris, he told us it would be ready in 10 minutes, so we decided to proceed with the order. Our table ordered four meals: two meatloaf dinners, catfish, wings, and soul rolls. One meal (the catfish) arrived within about 10 minutes, but the remaining dishes were not served until 7:22 PM--over an hour later. This meant we were unable to eat together, and most of our party sat waiting in uncomfortable conditions for over an hour without any updates or communication from staff. When we raised our concerns, the owner's response felt dismissive. Chris and his mother were sadly unable to take accountability for our bad experience, even after mentioning 2 of us got food poisoning, instead he said that I the consumer "approached them wrong" as if I am not a paying customer who is trying to actually give feedback! While I was disappointed with the slow service and hot conditions I was never rude to them! He initially explained that the delay was due to the meatloaf taking longer to cook than the fish. However, when I pointed out that my meal had arrived nearly an hour earlier and could have been timed with the rest of the table, he then stated that the hostess had not grouped the tickets together, so he was unaware the orders were for the same table. This explanation did not make sense, as all of our receipts clearly showed the same table number. He did offer a refund, but to be clear, we were not seeking a free meal--we were looking for accountability and to provide feedback that could improve the customer experience. To make matters worse, both myself AND cousin who ordered the meatloaf became severely ill with food poisoning within hours of eating, which raises serious concerns about food safety and handling. We were genuinely excited to support a Black-owned business, which makes this experience even more disappointing. While the food we did receive tasted good, it does not make up for the excessive wait time, lack of communication, poor customer service, and now serious health concerns. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not return or recommend this restaurant.

You know you're about to eat at a "nice restaurant" but that you would be welcome in all types of dress anytime of day. I went to the restroom while my husband ordered drinks, I told him to surprise me. The waitress helped him order and he ended up ordering a drink called The Bees Knees. I loved it! He got a ranch water, boring lol. For an appetizer we shared the Crabback. It's basically a fancy crab cake but man was it delicious. Best crab cake type appetizer I have ever had. For dinner we shared the Escovitch Red Snapper. It came with rice and beans and plantains but we traded the plantains for the butternut squash soup. The fish was so tender and flaky. It was topped beautiful, thinly sliced pickled veggys and two huge grilled shrimp. The rice and beans were mixed together and the perfect pairing with the fish. This dish was 10/10 and we will definitely get it again. The butternut squash soup was so creamy and flavorful, best we have had. This restaurant is such a great place to try new food and get some of the yummiest drinks. It's a great place to eat if you are downtown for a concert or show. If you like to expand your horizons and try unique food that is hard to find anywhere else, if you can even find it, then run to Sisserou's in downtown Tulsa. I gotta small Soul Bowl with rice, lemon garlic chicken, candied yams & green beans. The moment I…read moretook the first bite, it brought me back to my adolescence when I had chicken & rice and the rice would be so perfect. As I got older (& started learning how to cook), I found out the main trick was chicken stock. I didn't want the bowl to end. Plenty of rice, plenty of chicken, plenty of green beans, plenty of candied yams. There's no need to add extra, not even hot sauce, just leave it as is. As a small, it still had more than a lot of food. With a large, I'm confident it could be shared or you'll be guaranteed to have leftovers. Outside of the chicken, you can get beef tips or shrimp. Instead of rice, you can get mashed potatoes. There are two other sides outside of the ones I chose: mac & cheese and cabbage. The small bowl came at $9.99, I got a separate side of mac & cheese and my whole order came out under $20. The person who took my order was super nice. With about 5 people in front of me, the food came out not even 10 mins later. I'd like to try their beef tips & mashed potatoes next time.

While I appreciated that they used premixed tea, I wish they had gone for fresh tea in the South--it just felt more authentic that way. The beef tips were tasty, though I have to say, they didn't quite match the deliciousness of Wanda.J's. They did use a higher quality rice in basmati rice, which was nice. The yams were not overly sweet and quite good. The macaroni and cheese was a bit lacking something, but it was still decent. As for the lemon cake, I enjoyed the large piece and the fresh lemon juice poured on top. I think a thicker lemon glaze could really elevate the cake and make it even more delightful.

For my starter I ordered "Our Nice Little Salad" this beauty was crisp, fresh, and had tomatoes that popped in your mouth and bursted with flavor. The in-house croutons had that perfect buttery crunch, spiced pecans added a unique boldness and the homemade ranch was thick and creamy. I will say I had to ask three times for ranch. I just kept waiting. For our main courses we had the bone-in pork chop. Thick, juicy, and properly rested paired with red mashed potatoes.... Which were very good. The seasonal corn - was gone so quick! It was just so delicious. Ate that right up!! The shrimp scampi leaned heavily into garlic and butter in the best possible way. Shrimp were big, tender and juicy. Unfortunately my rotisserie chicken.... was very dry. I kept choking because of that. I was unable to eat it, that was disappointing. As far as atmosphere... very warm lighting, intimate feels, candle lit, steady energy, attentive staff. The dining room hums with laughter and happy customers... but without overtaking the conversation at our table. The volume was comfortable considering it was a full house.
