Actually, at least 90 of its items are sourdough based, even sweet pastries and cookies. Grabbed a regular sourdough, jalapeno cheddar sourdough, and a sourdough peanut butter dark chocolate cookie with sea salt. Sourdough breads were substantial and solid. The cookie was excellent. They had a lemon blueberry sourdough muffin so I got 1 to try. When I had it the next day for breakfast, I was pleasantly surprised by how many blueberries were in the muffin itself. They make fresh bread every morning and said the flavor that sells out the most was the jalapeño cheddar. That's exactly what I got. Stopped by FKN Bakery while my wife was at a doctor's appointment and decided to grab a couple of cookies (I'm a big cookie fan and always down to try a new spot). Glad I did -- these were very good. I went with the salted chocolate chip and the peanut butter dark chocolate. Both were crispy on the edges, soft in the middle, generously sized, and reasonably priced. Easy 4 out of 5 stars for each. Parking was a little tricky...ended up in the back paid lot, didn't feel like paying the two bucks, so I made it a quick in-and-out mission and was relieved to come back to my car still ticket-free am I had two cookies in a brown bag - win win and a grin! A friend of mine stopped by this weekend and picked up a Jalapeño Cheddar Sourdough loaf ($13) for me. I'm happy to report that FKN Bread still makes the best Jalapeño Cheddar Sourdough. They don't skimp on the jalapeño or cheddar. Their sourdough has just the right fermented taste that makes me crave it. I was afraid their prices might have skyrocketed since my last visit years ago, but at $13, it's still reasonable for the size and quality of the loaf. From the outside, I thought it was bigger but it's a cute tiny little grab and go place. Each of the pastries are on display. Then I noticed this bakery specializes in everything sourdough which is my least favorite bread. We got ham and cheese sourdough croissant and chocolate sourdough croissant. Even though I'm not a fan of sourdough, it wasn't tastable in the ham and cheese but very noticeable in the dark chocolate croissant. Had the sour salty flavor. It's a matter of preference and sourdough is just not for me. I also wished they could have offered to heat it up. Instead it was cold and hard. I personally want to tell you to stay away from this place, it's way too addicting and good. My husband and I can't get enough of their sourdough. This must be a five star place as I realized I drove 45 minutes to grab some goodies twice in one month. It was a positive day. I snagged parking right up front in busy San Juan, and FKN had their jalapeño cheddar loaf in stock. There is a sweet young woman working up front who greeted me and when asked for suggestions, she gave her favorites and what was popular. Her favorites included the everything bagel croissant for savory items and pumpkin muffin for sweet. They both were absolutely scrumptious. The bagel croissant was all fluffiness and butter w cream cheese as a bonus. Pumpkin muffin was moist and balanced. I haven't eaten the loaf yet but my coworker recommended to toast a slice with butter when I get home. Others that were recommended for its popularity include the baklavah muffin. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I ordered the turkey sandwich and the brown butter cookie. The turkey sandwich came with avocado, pepper jack cheese, arugula and mustard on sourdough bread. Drove up to SJC from Oceanside to take a friend to lunch for her birthday. We walked past FKN Bread on our way to the restaurant and decided to stop by after eating. We were warmly greeted as we walked in. There were a few pastries, though we decided to ask about the sour dough bread choices. We opted to take advantage of the 2 for $20 special. I cannot sing the praises of FKN Bread enough. Today was the first day that we tried the place and my wife and I can safely say we found our go to bread spot (at least for the time being). The loaves are all the same affordable price and being the first customer of the day today the three loaves we purchased were so fresh. We purchased the Rosemary Garlic, Everything and Jalapeño Cheddar and all were full of flavor, freshness and all of the good smells you'd expect from just made bakery goods. The service was outstanding as the person behind the calendar was patient as I asked questions and made a switch of loaves at the last second. I also really liked the bakery ambiance with the exposed brick and the ability to see a significant amount of the bread making process. A friend has been talking about trying bread from here for a while so while I was running errands I popped in and let her know I can pick up whatever she wanted. The parking can be difficult. There's a few spaces directly in front and a pay parking lot in the back. I just parked in the back and hoped I didn't get a ticket for my quick stay. FKN Bread is a pick up and take home spot. There's no room to sit and enjoy inside. I was expecting just sourdough bread varieties, but there was also a pumpkin loaf, pastries, muffins, and cookies! My friend got the classic sourdough loaf and the everything sourdough loaf. She also got a lemon blueberry muffing, and a variety of six different cookies. I bout myself just two cookies. My friend raved about the everything sourdough loaf and sent me back for the pumpkin bread and more sourdough iced sugar cookies. I had one of the sourdough sprinkles cookies the day before and had to get another! I also tried the brown butter toffee chocolate chip sea salt cookie, which was amazing and have been dreaming about that one as well. The last time I was in SJC, I saw FKN and wanted to try it, but since the line was so long I decided not to. During my visit this week, I was waiting for my takeaway order from Breezy and saw that there was no line so I headed over. They have a nice selection of pastries, sandwiches, and loaves of beautiful breads! I was curious that their croissants are sourdough based, so I decided to purchase a couple to try. And of course I couldn't resist passing on their scone and coffee cake! Their chocolate cinnamon bread peaked my interest as well. The employee said it makes a great french toast, so I decided to give it a try. Everything I tried was great. I loved that the scone was like a biscuit - buttery and crispy on the bottom. The chocolate cinnamon bread had chocolate folded throughout the loaf, but I didn't really taste the cinnamon. It's a sourdough bread, so you can taste the tang of the sourdough with the chocolate which makes for an interesting flavor, but I enjoyed a slice of it toasted and topped with some peanut butter, blueberries, and honey. I also used it to make french toast and it was good as well, although I prefer a softer type of bread for my french toast personally. It's a generous sized loaf so I sliced half of it into smaller slices and stuck it in the freezer to enjoy later! read more

I'm a little shocked I haven't written a review for this little bakery yet... See, it all started back in 2020 when the pandemic started and I was searching high and low for a delicious chocolate chip cookie. That's when I came across this lovely family baking out of their home and providing their community with delicious baked goods... Fast forward and here we are... and I'm still in love with their sourdough chocolate chip cookies. A few of my pics are from 2020... and some more recent. Now they have a storefront and cute packaging with their name on it. So different than picking it up from the front of their place, but I'm so glad they have survived and are doing well! If you get a chance, try them out. Or at the least, their sourdough chocolate chip cookies. They are delicious, and have such a great texture to them... almost like it has oats in it - maybe they do!
