The location alone is ADORABLE, almost feels like you're walking into grandmas house. I been here multiple times and it's always delicious! I experiment with new flavors each time as they always add new seasonal flavors--super fun! This time I ordered the seasonal iced Strawberry latte with strawberry cold foam and I could tell it was fresh, not artificial. One call out, every time I've gone the outdoor seating has been covered with leaves, twigs, bugs. I wish the seating area was a tad cleaner to enjoy sitting there, maybe with a laptop and have no fear a spider nest was nearby, jaja.

I'm really glad I decided to give Hidden House Coffee another shot. My first visit didn't exactly leave me eager to come back, but the second time around completely changed my perspective, I finally see what all the buzz is about. The coffee was genuinely delicious, and I highly recommend adding the cold foam cream on top it takes the drink to another level. The shop itself is cute with some seating, though it's also a great grab-and-go spot. Located near the train tracks in downtown San Juan Capistrano, it's perfectly situated for a little stroll. I'd suggest grabbing your coffee and walking around the nearby shops to really enjoy the area. Overall, definitely worth a revisit if your first experience didn't wow you, this place redeemed itself for me.

Seasonal May 2026: pistachio iced latte (50% sweetness) .

Ambiance: quaint, cute, tucked away vibe Service: on point, considering how long the line was - out the door. Price: on par with every speciality coffee shop in OC scene: Taste: 5/5 - at 50% sweetness, the pistachio latte was perfectly balanced. You can smell the faint scent of pistachio and it was not too sweet. Parking: you have 4 options, and they do not validate. Hours: they close at 5pm, so no late evening conversations to be held here. (Will not deduct any stars bc frankly that's not their fault) Overall, one of my fave coffee spots in south county and can't wait to be back. Salud

I can't really fault this place. It's in a fantastic location right next to the train station and other restaurants in the area. We tried out the seasonal strawberry cold foam with their cold brew and I have to say it's pretty good! The girl behind the counter also recommended the strawberry matcha, but that's probably something I'll try another time. This place does get busy, but we were lucky and got in before a rush of people started flocking in.

Great coffee shop in downtown San Juan Capistrano. Wonderful seating outside in the wonderful San Juan Capistrano Climate. The coffee is always on point. Usually they have a lot of pastries that you can have also can't beat the friendly smiles in this place.

I've been to this coffee shop in the Los Rios area a couple of times now and have always enjoyed their drinks! Tried out their seasonal strawberry cold foam with a cold brew and I really liked it. The cold brew was strong and the foam was delicious with a good strawberry flavor but it was not too sweet. The shop is a cozy shack style with some seating inside but plenty more in the patio. Definitely a good place to enjoy some coffee and vibes.

House of hidden coffee sounded mysterious I expected a ninja serving me. However the stuff were friendly and very informative. The drinks I got were strong and I really woke up by the morning coming the place is not that hidden but I'll let it slidesince I didn't mind finding this place. The place is pretty clean and spacious a good chill spot.

Ordered a hibiscus elderflower tea which was light and refreshing on a warm Saturday afternoon Be prepared for a wait if you're here on a Saturday afternoon. The line luckily went by quick for us but we with they had the menu posted outside as well so that we could see ahead of time as the inside area is quite small.

Started our day with some coffee in SJC. Found this place through a yelp search as we were waiting to get seated at Breezy. I got the pumpkin spiced latte with oat milk. It inside a historic house and there was a small line out the door. okay service but great coffee.

This darling coffee shop is located on the historic Los Rios Street in San Juan Capistrano. There is plenty of outdoor seating in this tranquil, tree filled property. Coffee and food offerings are delicious. We enjoyed the banana nut bread with our lattes. This is a counter service establishment, with prompt, friendly baristas and staff.

Hidden House Coffee in San Juan Capistrano is a nice little stop if you're in the area and want a solid cup in a really charming setting. The vibe is probably the best part. It's cozy, scenic, and the kind of place that feels like a mini break from your day. Coffee is good and dependable, and it's a fun spot to meet a friend or sit for a bit. It can get busy, and it's not necessarily the place that'll blow your mind if you're hunting for the most life-changing latte ever but it's definitely worth a visit. Overall: a pleasant, easy going coffee vibe with great atmosphere and a reliable cup.

Love the coffeehouse vibe. Honey lavender iced coffee was on par. Price in line with other coffee houses. Cute coffeehouse vibe. Friendly Ish service. They had some seating but not a lot inside.

Is there other choices of milk? Perhaps oatmilke , almond or coconut?

    Yes, there were other options

    Where do you park?

We park in the parking garage just across the tracks. $2 per hour.

    Do they accept apple pay?

    Yes

Do they serve food other than pastry?

I haven't seen any food other than what is in the bakery case. A toasted bagel with cream cheese would be nice.... yum... I seems Ben has gone on walk-a-bout circumnavigating the globe.

    Is there anything vegan?

Yes they currently have vegan pumpkin muffins and vegan chocolate chip cookies! Their alternative milks are almond and oat milk (no soy).

Stopped by here exploring San Juan Capistrano area en route to SD for Memorial day wknd. Just walked around the alley and saw a strip of cool old craftsman style homes converted to restaurants. I saw on yelp there was a Tea house. That is what made me walk down the ally. Found the tea house and took a pic. Directly across from there was Ramos house. There wasn't a line. You can tell that the AMs that place will be packed. Food was so good and hit the spot.

It's on me that I didn't realize it was pre-fixe at $48/person on the weekends. So our party of 5 was outrageously expensive considering the fact that we ended up with way too much food and most of it was meh. For course 1, we got the beet and burrata salad, hush puppies, "salmon lox," beignets, and coffee cake. We could have been done after and would have had 1/2 the food leftover. The salmon lox was mild in taste, but nice. The beet salad was delicious, but would have been better with goat cheese. Hush puppies were good, but SO HEAVY. My kids had the beignets and coffee cake, which were served with a lot of syrup/sauce. Neither dish was finished and they were also SO HEAVY. For 2nd plates, we had the beef stew, flannel hash, crab hash, and 2 orders of the mac and cheese with duck confit and truffles. The flannel hash was outstanding. Everything else was meh. The beef stew was good, but the potatoes were unnecessary and there were bites of blue cheese that were disproportionately strong. The crab hash was not good even after adding salt and pepper. The egg portion of the dish was bad. The sweet potato crispies were overwhelming and ridiculous. And the large crab cakes were just totally lacking in flavor. The mac and cheese was also meh although it did reheat better the next day. But the portion of duck confit was light and I ended up with a large bone in my mouth when I had it as leftovers. I do not believe there were any truffles or even truffle oil in this dish, just mushrooms. In short, I would never go again on the weekend and would not even seek this place out on the weekdays. I wonder if the chef changed because the food was just so mediocre compared to before. The portions are very large so if that is of interest, they have that in spades. And the flannel hash was outstanding. So if you find yourself here, definitely order that. I hope a revamp is done on the food. If so, I would come again as the patio is absolutely lovely.

That's because my daughter was treating me for my birthday and had thoroughly researched the loveliest tea house she could find in the area. And it was, except for the bees. Beware being sent to the back patio area if you have a phobia or allergy to bees. There was a singular citronella candle right by us, so we only had to shoo them away 5 or 6 times. But we saw other diners being relentlessly attacked, muffling shrieks, trying to maintain a calm conversation while several bees crawled over their jam and china. I heard a man beside me say that he was afraid of knocking over his tea pot with all the swatting he was doing. That was the opposite of what you come to a tea house for and they really need to address it. Other than all that ... the actual afternoon tea we were served was great. We ordered the Mission Tea: scone, soup or salad, finger sandwiches and dessert. We are tea aficionados, so we have high expectations, and they know what they are doing. The teas themselves were smooth and flavorful. My daughter ordered a rose tea and I ordered a strawberry kiwi. We both felt they were giving candle - but in a smooth, aromatic way, non offensive way. My daughter likes her tiers and was a little sad and surprised that we didn't our tea served on one. Certainly would have made service faster, to not need our courses served piecemeal. It didn't help that we felt a bit forgotten at times. For a long while, despite there being open tables inside where there was screening, we had been sent to the very last table in the outdoors. Amongst several empty tables there was a large party already there. Two other women showed up who pointed at us to be served before them, but the waiter waved them off. But, we enjoyed our conversation so much, it was okay to wait until another waiter finally came to serve us. Cute, cute place - even the bathroom was beautifully appointed and clean with pretty wallpaper and classy gold fixtures. Unfortunately, my daughter wasn't in there alone. To her chagrin, a buzzing little critter apparently had to go as well.
