If you're into being deeply annoyed and simultaneously agitated then I suggest running barefoot across a hardwood floor covered in Legos. But if you're looking for a truly bone deep agony that produces a loss of sleep than Flagstar is the perfect fit. Until last week I was a customer with this bank for 10 years. My disappointment began with watching the perks of my checking account slowly erode away over time. Perks such as free personal checks, 5 free foriegn ATM transactions a month and many other "perks" slowly peeled away from my account without telling me. These were the reasons I initially signed up with the bank. But I get it, the last few years were hard for banks so freebies must go. Thanks for not sending notice by the way. I continued to use Flagstar since I had an auto loan also. The loan process was akin to waterboarding. Being told I had everything filled out correctly, only to not hear from anyone for days (Days yes... for an auto loan with good credit). Then following up to only hear I needed to send in additional documentation. Then icing on the cake. A legal hold for way below my checking accounts daily balance was placed on my account. I have in writing the legal hold was a mistake as I was never contacted regarding any judgement. The judgment was sent to an address I haven't lived in for the better part of a decade. Flagstar being a customer driven bank still charged $100 dollars for having a legal hold placed on a fraction of my account balance. The $100 was only slightly less than the dollar amount of the hold. I've always had a positive balance with my account, never have overdrawn so it's great when the customer reps run me around. Jennifer from the Legal department made up the "Bank Processing" department saying that's who I need to contact to send in the paper showing the judgement was placed in error. After many calls the $100 fee from Flagstar boiled down to that fact that there is not an appeals process, no one to send the paper work to. And being told basically to kick rocks. After the legal hold, my debit card was canceled without telling me. Then my direct deposits wouldn't clear for days after my pay check was issued. And this was all well after the legal hold had cleared. Flagstar, you may "kick rocks" as your stock "FBC" is only down $180 from where it was when I signed up. Currently sitting at $20. They made all kind of errors but never want to fix it, Their unprofessional and error were waster my time and my money. They charged your money for their mistake. I contacted to the loan servicing, but they were so rude and so unprofessional service which I never ever had before. They play all kind of gams to cover their mistakes. One time, I need to travel so I payed the mortgage couple of days ahead, so I would not miss the payment, couple of month later I found they charged me for $1200.00 late fee, I was shorted and called them to requested them to correct it, but the banker was so unprofessional and rude, she told me that they put my mortgage payment to my house principal without my knowledge, I told them I would not like it and try to let them to make correction. They refused to do so and yelling at me badly, For avoieded the later fee I than I payed another $1340.00 check for that monthly payment, but they still charged me $1200 later fees. Totally I lost more than $2500 because of their mistake. Every time I called and talked to them, they are just so fierce, and they not only wasted my time and lost my trust but also made me and my family very unhappy. We give Flagstar Bank -0 Stars. We opened a business checking account, deposited over $10,000. We had a 5 customers bank place a stop payment on their checks and Flagstar Flagged our account and Claim it's under investigation, but when we call the give us no information, they just forward the call to another department and tell us they'll contact us. It's been 3 weeks and no one has contacted us. We are reporting this bank to the BBB, FTC and Law enforcement for retrieval of our funds. They are keeping this account open against our company's wishes, the have Extremely poor customer service, Unprofessional and Racist Bankers at their Michigan branches. Overall this has been a Terrible experience! We do not recommend this bank for new customers and businesses. He said that my credit score is not important that the social yes, because he destroyed my credit without being able to offer me the service. the service is super terrible, it made me waste time with an employee who doesn't know his job. He looked at my credit score knowing that I didn't had a social security number, and that your bank doesn't even provide this type of loan for me, He still went through with the application and he lied to me that I was pre-approval , He say for ITIN number I only have to prove my income for down payment . Easily the worst mortgage bank I have ever had, and would give them 0 stars of I could. Sadly my mortgage was sold to them, so I didn't have an option. My rates are 3.75 and 4.125 on the 2 mortgages that were sold to them, and I am honestly considering refi'ing with another back just because I HATE this bank that much! They move at a snails pace, they are out of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines and I hope they get investigated. I am on day 40 of trying to drop my PMI, and I even sent in my $800 check for the appraisal the first day they allowed me to request the drop PMI. That's right... I sent a check in the mail because this company is so out of date they don't accept Credit Cards and deal everything through standard mail. This doesn't even take into account the 3 months it took to have a simple name change and add a 3rd party user on the accounts. THE WORST! read more

Since the merge Flagstar bank sucks . We have nothing but issue with mobile and online banking and customer service guy won't let you explain and wants to over talk the customer who I been calling on this in last 2 weeks of this issue . Funny so when I called back after I hung up on the guy they stated having issue with moblie and online banking but that guy was sure it was our fault.. our whole family banks with them and looks we all be leaving them soon. Also we use to be able to see what was pending for deposit and since merge that stop as well . Merge was worse and plus I was extra person on another account and my card got fraud and I called to replace with my joint account and they replace wrong card where I had to go almost month and half without debit card and I would had to pay them to send Me a card faster.. they suck !!!!!!!! read more

Avoid this company at all costs. Their customer support is appalling. You'll get trapped in an infuriating automated phone system, navigating multiple levels of menus with far too many options, only for the system to eventually hang up on you. Even when you finally reach a representative, they're unhelpful, often redirecting you back to the automated system instead of providing actual assistance. This company offers a profoundly frustrating and ultimately unhelpful customer experience. They should be absolutely ashamed of the poor level of customer service that they provide. read more

Had to move to Flagstar when Wells Fargo, another bad bank, sold our local branch in Houghton, MI to them. Flagstar is even worse. It took us four months to transition. Things still don't work on the business checking side of things. Payments to our Capital One card don't get posted. Glitches in the system have persisted for months. They apparently take it upon themselves to throw you into a forbearance program that you didn't request and didn't know about, without permission! Made payments on time and for some reason needed a forbearance. Never told me they had done that. Until I needed the forbearance and now I can't because they threw me into it in 2020 without my knowledge! FRAUD! Purposely causing people to lose their homes. read more
