Flair tower is awesome Just make sure you dont get a unit on the west side of the bldg (ON THE TRAIN) the staff is great! I have actually lived here on 3 different occassions since they were built, but i loved it. 5 stars for sure the prices are really reasonable for what you get and the location, they dont try to gauge you at all one down side? the pool is like your bathtub, tinyyyyyyyyyy, but NICE!! I don't like to waste time and write reviews but my recent experience with Flair Tower has been nothing short but infuriating. I've been a resident of this apartment for almost 2 years. I loved everything about it for the first year (2012), which led to my lease renewal but management and residents significantly deteriorated the 2nd year leading to my recent moveout. I lived in one of the penthouse units that was the unfortunately the recipient of debris and green gunk from units above. Management was quick to respond but failed to address the issue for almost 6 months. Every 2 weeks the sink would spew green, greasy debris that stunk up the apartment. The sink would make a gurgling sound and then flood the entire sink with liquid contaminating my dishes and silverware. I had to take several days off work to ensure this issue was being fixed appropriately. It took almost 6 months for this issue to be addressed by management. The walls and windows also didn't prevent me from hearing my neighbors argue and curse at each other at 2am in the morning. The constant stream of loud music on the floor and nearby apartments made it also difficult to sleep at times. I am never living in an apartment again that is by the train station, like this one. I paid close to $4,000 per month for my rent and thought the service, value and residents didn't warrant anywhere close to that amount. To add further insult to injury, management and maintenance decided to enter my unit without my permission and removed items from my wall while I was still in the process of moving out. TV mounts, refrigerator magnets, etc were all removed without my permission and disappeared from my apartment. They are now assessing a per diem fee because I can't return the keys on time due to being stuck in NY as a result of weather issues, despite having previously entered my apartment without my permission before! I have a very mixed opinion about my time at Flair, which is why it is a 3-star rating. The good: The location is fantastic. The building is great and well-kept. The common areas are somewhat small but very nice. Most importantly, the people are just top notch - the leasing staff, the doormen, the maintenance crew, everyone. I couldn't have asked for a better experience in that regard. The bad: Aside from being a bit small (which we expected living so close to the Loop), our experience was tainted by the lease renewal process. When we signed our lease back in late 2013, we were looking for a place to stay for a few years. Many other apartment buildings offered generous concessions (including waived application/pet fees, free parking for a few months, etc.), but Flair did not. Their reasoning for this was that they want to maintain residents for multiple years, and therefore do not favor new tenants with large concessions. In this same vein, they represented that the yearly rent increases were fairly small compared to other buildings in the area, typically 3-5%. This is what sold us on Flair - we didn't want to get priced out of the building after a year. Fast forward to mid-2014 when we get our renewal letter. Much to our chagrin, the rent increase was nowhere in the neighborhood of 3-5% - try 12-15%! Flair is already an expensive place to live, and this increase just felt like an insult. I understand that the apartment housing market in Chicago is booming, but this increase flew in the face of what we were told (and had expected). As a result, we decided to deal with the hassle of another housing search and move rather than stomach this gargantuan increase. This was the sole negative experience of our time at Flair, but it was such a large factor in our original decision to move to Flair in the first instance that it largely overshadows the good experience we had there. My recommendation to anyone considering Flair is to make a decision based on what's there (great people, location, and maintenance) and not to assume anything on pricing. If you're okay with the fact that your rent may increase 10-15% a year, then I have no qualms recommending Flair. For those of you looking to stay somewhere longer term and have pricing remain fairly stable, I would recommend finding an owner-leased condo and signing a longer term lease. read more

Here is an ironic story; I dated a man who lived in Chicago for several years. Who, needless to say dumped me like a bad habit and broke my heart yadda yadda yadda... well somewhere in all the nastiness he threw out that I would never agree to move to Chicago.... hence he was doing me a favor. Fade out and fast forward, my company moved me here about a year later. EVERYONE KNOWS that the best revenge, (err ) aid to getting over a bad break up, is to live a fabulous new and improved life. So when I knew I was going to move I wanted to live someplace amazing. Problem: there are about a million AMAZING places to live in Chicago. After much dithering and looking and panicking over prices I chose Flair Tower. Where do I begin to tell you how thrilled I am with my choice? It is a smaller ( 200 units) property, that from the time one walks in the door feels more like a boutique hotel than an apartment complex. The doormen truly behave like concierge service, they know everyone, they take care of your stuff, they give your dog a bone and there is always delicious coffee in the coffee service in the morning. The apartments are large and thoughtfully laid out with excellent finishes. I chose a two bedroom as I work form home and needed an office / guestroom. I have great views out of every floor to ceiling window. Granite counter tops, porcelain tiled entry way and kitchen. Its luxurious and practical. The location is superb. I am literally within walking distance of everything the down town area has to offer. I can literally walk out the front door and say hmm, what adventure do I feel like today? (am I gushing? well maybe a little, but I am also speaking the truth) Two final pluses, the Flair Tower is TOTALLY dog friendly. In fact at points I could swear there are more dogs here than people. But it is SPOTLESS and quiet. which is super. And last thing... it just received a LEED ( green building) award at a Silver rating, which is hard to do and expensive for the property developer. So it shows their commitment to excellence in the building itself. In conclusion I am happy as a clam and dating up as storm... so living well for me has been the best revenge - loving Chicago! read more

I have mixed reviews about Flair Tower and I'll go into the pro's and con's below. Pro's: The building is great. Amenities are nice, building is well maintained, units are well appointed, finishes are great, and the maintenance and doorman are the best I've experienced. The building is pretty social and management does a great job of throwing in "freebies" every month from local restaurants, shops, etc. Con's: The location. The neighborhood is great from about 7am-11pm Sunday thru Wednesday. Thursday thru Saturday past 11pm, the area is extremely high crime. There are several clubs in the area that have had shootings, fights, etc. Look it up on a crime map, there are more crimes around Flair Tower than the loop! As for the noise, it's super loud. Since Ohio Street is the main drag out of town, every motorcycle revs their engine coming out of the bars and you can be up most nights listening to all the traffic. Additional, the building backs up to the train and if it's something you can deal with, thats fine. But don't let management fool you. You'll have to stop conversations if you are facing south in the building. Similar to other responses, management does a horrible job with taking care of their residents from a financial standpoint. Rents will increase 10-15% each year, which is not the norm. Don't let them tell you differently. Also, we were looking to sub-lease our place for 3-5 months and management will NOT help you or find other tenants for your unit. It's pretty standard to have the management company help you or find a new tenant to take over your lease, but not at Flair. I have lived at flair for about 5 months now, and I'll tell you all the reasons I have loved it so far. 1) The office staff, concierge, and maintenance crews are all friendly and good at what they do. I've lived in some other apartments in Chicago where the management seemed to only be there to hound me over payment, contracts, or something else to make my life miserable. I can say it is the opposite at flair. in our first few months we didn't have auto pay set up and we got a call from Ashley at the front letting us know that we needed to make our payment within the next 12 hours or we would be charged a late fee. Other places would have been happy to let us forget and collect that extra money. The door staff is amazing and friendly. The maintenance crew has helped us on multiple occasions and seem to get to their work quickly. The people make the place and not only are the employees great, but I have found my neighbors here to be much more social and friendly than my last apartment as well. Sure, the el runs right west of the building. I'm about halfway up the building and my balcony and bedroom windows face south - so yeah, it can be loud if it's open air, but I feel like you need to do your research on that before you move into the apartment. There are a few clubs in the neighborhood that cause a ruckus at 3 am or whenever people get kicked out of the bar. We are one block from Ontario so there is some traffic/honking/revving of engines going on one street over. But I can also get onto the expressway in about 30 seconds to get out of dodge. I haven't noticed any more violent crime here than anywhere else in river north. All of these things come with the location, and it's exactly what we wanted, so we take the bad with the good. Overall, I feel like a yelp review is about the people working for the business and how they serve their customers. I haven't had a lease renewal yet, so I can't speak to changing rent, but I will say up to this point I am very happy with my choice to live at Flair. read more

I've parked a few times here, and it was convenient to my work location albeit they have very narrow parking spaces compared to others. My last visit they created an unsafe garage entrance due to repairs and I damaged my car during the maneuvering to get in. The attendant offered NO help guiding me me and management has replied to my emails. I guess they don't care! Never park here there are many other better facilities. read more

Amazing Building. Absolutely stunning when you get into the lobby. The outside is alright, but the inside is more than I can say. It is a "posh hotel" feel. The pool is amazing and pretty (could be a little bigger though) but wow.. you can really tell the service they give their residents. its worth every penny. Their actual apartments have much better floorplans than most in the city, and they went the extra mile with their finishes. Plush carpet, great bathrooms, awesome kitchens, very nice oversized doors, the whole 9 yards. I wish i could afford to live here. read more

This is my first Yelp review and I was waiting to review something that truly felt needed "props". My wife and I moved to Flair Tower and we absolutely love this place. Everything they explained and mentioned during our visit has been 100% true. What I want to point out is that was has made our experience great has been the people who work here. EVERY single person is very friendly, professional and with an attitude to help out. Rarely do you see this "consistent" experience in an apartment building. Flair: The Good, Bad, and Ugly of Flair Tower. Of the many luxury buildings in Chicago this is one of the best. I have lived here for nearly two years and truly enjoy many things about it. Oftentimes people overuse the words.. 'location, location, location..' This happens to be a place where those words are fitting. The maintenance people and concierge and most of the staff are great. However, with the good there is also the bad and the ugly. The bad parts are... Just because its advertised as luxury does not mean you will have access to or enjoy some of the simple things. For instance.. the ability to print from the business center in color would be nice. Or even smaller, Splenda for your coffee (because they stopped purchasing it presumably to cut costs.) There are a lot of small things like that missing. One would think when you pay upwards of $3,000 every month it would be a forgone conclusion that certain things would be available. Unfortunately, there is an ugly side as well. For one, I feel that the staff gets treated horribly by management. "Multiple staff members." For instance there is a concierge/ doorman who will remain nameless. Actually lets call him, Dustin Thanksgiving. Dustin, who typically used to work the morning shift is a very likable person with a service first attitude. He is very knowledgable about the city and its attractions, takes pride in little things like making the coffee, holding doors. and making you feel very welcome every time a resident comes home. The head manager noticeably did not and probably still does not like Dustin so had him demoted. I have witnessed this manager speak rudely to residents and frequently talk down to staff. Both are unacceptable and make myself and I'm sure other residents who have witnessed this behavior uncomfortable. In conclusion, I moved here to enjoy the lux life. To enjoy the fruits of my labor. For me, its not mega-yachts and mansions just yet. So for now, my apartment is one of my forms of luxury. So other than one or two things needing cleaning up I give Flair Tower a thumbs up. read more

Mixed feeling. The nice things are location, building, and friendly staffs. One thing which discouraged me was sharp hike of the rent. As more people got interest in living in Flair, the management tried to kick out current short term resident with big pressure (=sharp rent hike). Horrible experience! First off I went to their website where they advertise for 1 bedroom starting as low as $1627. I live chatted with someone from their website and asked what they had available for 1 bedrooms in the price range of $1627-$1800. he told me that they have 3 available and if I wanted to head over at 2 pm I can take a look. I did just that, ran over from work to take a look. When I got there I was told that I had to wait for her to show someone else first or if the other agents finishes first he will take me. A group came in after me and had been there earlier in the day. The 2nd agent took them to show them again and left us behind. I waited 35 mins before she returned to get me. She then took me to the smallest one bedroom they have and told me it was $1860. WHAT! I told her that I asked when I chatted with the guy online and he said you did have some available. She said no sorry this is it. So basically they lied on their website, their "call center" lied saying they had availability and in the price range, and then I had to wait 35 mins to see an apartment that took less than 5 mins to see. She didn't even seem to care when I asked her about it. I would not recommend these people to anyone. Clearly they are a bait and switch type of community! read more

I have lived in the Flair tower for 3 years running now, and living here has been utterly fantastic. Property management is great to work with, if you need any maintenance the work is completed same day. Additionally, the maintenance fellows are very nice and will update you really quickly if you need them to do any work. Property management is easy to work with and will sit down with you regarding any issues. In addition the Property management setup a lot of community events in the building and try to help residents get to know each other. In all my time living in Chicago, I've never seen another building do that. The doorman are always willing to lend a helping hand, they don't intrude if you are a more private person, but they are willing to share a story and can offer you some fantastic advice about the area and such if you have the time to chat. They have helped me out multiple times and are always attentive, kind and generous with their time. The units are clean and neat, I've never had any serious maintenance issues. They have multiple amenities, such as a gym, business room and pool that they keep them all very well maintained. While it is close to the train, I've never found that a problem, the doors out to the balconies are very well sound proofed so we never noticed a issue with it. read more
