    Mini Steak Bulgogi
    Paul L.

What's up with their Tuesday hours, being open only from 6 PM to 9 PM? I can't help but wonder if operating for just three hours is even profitable. Aside from the odd hours, Flame Broiler LACKS INTERIOR COMFORT AND DESIGN, which is surprising for a fast-food chain with multiple locations across the nation. I visited in the evening and was surprised to see a steady flow of customers. After placing my order, my meal was ready in under a minute. I went with the MINI STEAK BULGOGI BOWL with vegetables and asked for their Seoul Scorcher Hot Sauce. I poured the entire packet over my bowl, and while I definitely felt the heat, the sauce's name didn't quite match its intensity. It had a gochujang base with a subtle hint of ghost pepper-like spice. FB uses quality meat, Certified Angus Beef, which elevates the flavor. Next time, I'll be ordering the regular-sized bowl because the mini portion felt too small to fully enjoy this savory meal.

    Maggot
    Araceli J.

Half way into eating my food I noticed that there might be a maggot in my food . After double and triple checking it definitely was a maggot. I called the store , spoke with a nice gentleman and let him know what I found in my food. He told me that it's not a maggot that it's something that comes from the broccoli. He let me know that someone earlier that week or the week prior called about the same thing too And again gave me reassurance that it was not a maggot that it was just something that comes from broccoli I took a picture of it. I looked up what these maggot looking things are that come from broccoli and they are in fact maggots.

I've recently been trying to eat healthier in an effort to better my health numbers after I noticed they had exacerbated this past year. I knew about Flame Broiler, a dime a dozen shop, but I had forgotten they specialized in healthy bowls that are also good for your soul. Thanks to Fivestars, which I found this location while scrolling around on the app, I may have found my new spot for eats that are healthier than burgers and fries. This Flame Broiler is located in Long Beach by the traffic circle next to Cyclebar. I mention this because inside the restaurant, there's actually a stationary bicycle from Cyclebar. Why they did this, I'm not too sure, but I think it's appropriate to have those two businesses adjacent to one another so that way, after a tough workout or a cycling class, you can treat yourself to some healthy eats that don't taste too bad! I was planning to hit up several places that day, so I only got a Mini Chicken Bowl on this visit. The chicken is NAE, which stands for No Antibiotics Ever. They also offer beef and tofu, or you can get the best of two different worlds. I don't like tofu, and I'm trying to avoid red meat, hence my choice for chicken. The cashier then asked if I wanted white or brown rice. Since brown rice is a lot healthier, that's what I went with. He also recited the list of vegetables that would accompany the chicken and rice, and I agreed to have it all on there. The vegetables are blanched, which generally retains more of the nutrients that my body most definitely needs! It took about 2 to 3 minutes before they were done with my bowl. Quite fast! I'll have to try a regular size bowl to see how much longer they'd need to prepare it. The cashier asked if I'd like teriyaki sauce or hot sauce. I wasn't expecting hot sauce to be an option, and I wasn't sure how hot their hot sauce was, so I simply went with teriyaki. He gave me two cups of that, though I only used one and saved the other one for later. He also included a fork in my small takeout bag. There is plenty of seating inside, even with the presence of the Cyclebar stationary bicycle. I sat at a table and enjoyed every bite of that mini bowl! However, I do believe it would have been tough to eat without any sauce as everything in the bowl, including the chicken, was quite dry. I would also say that one cup of teriyaki sauce might not be enough to satisfy your taste buds, so if you do get a regular bowl, try to ask for a second sauce. The walls are adorned with posters that analyze the ingredients in their bowls: The beef is USDA Choice Angus Beef. The chicken is USDA All-Natural Chicken sans skin. The tofu is organic, extra firm and non-GMO. The proteins are charbroiled. The rice is U.S. extra fancy Calrose medium grain rice grown in NorCal. The vegetables are blanched. Wait, didn't I already say this? I can definitely appreciate how they are being transparent in their ingredients so that we, the customers, know exactly what we are paying for. If you'd like, you can also add green onions on top at no extra charge! At the front window, there's also a poster that advertises their rewards program called Magic Rewards, which is different from Fivestars. From looking at their website https://flamebroilerusa.com/, points can't be earned on in-person purchases. Instead, you can only earn points online, which is contrary to Fivestars, which rewards you a point for every order you make in store. It might be a little confusing having two separate rewards programs for the same eatery, but I think as long as you know that one program rewards online orders while the other rewards in-person orders, you should not get them confused. If Magic Rewards starts awarding points on in-person orders, I wouldn't know if you'd be allowed to double-dip. It's definitely something that will be on my radar, however, in the near future. Overall, I enjoyed my mini chicken bowl, and I look forward to visiting Flame Broiler more often whenever I'm in need of something healthy and don't want to cook at home lol.

Regular NAE Korean Spicy Chicken Bowl

Came here specifically for the Korean spicy chicken and it was not good. Better to order regular chicken.

Once upon a time, this Faerie Queen needed a quick weekday meal. We were greeted upon entry and the person manning the front desk was kind and helpful. The food is simple, rice bowls with your choice of proteins (including tofu), veggies, and sauce. Just what was needed for a healthy version of fast food. The end.

Employees were friendly, made my order perfectly with no sauce or carrots. A minimal wait time.

This place has good food and what you'd expect from a chain semi-fast food joint. The place is in a plaza and area where there are a lot of food options, so competition is stiff. The food is not too bad, chicken and beef are good. I personally think the rice is too dry. The workers are nice and I've never had a problem with them. I also like that this is one of the few places that offers a loyalty program for its customers. Honestly, this is one of those places that you can stop by for quick bite of healthy food. But with so many good options in the area, it probably would not be a go-to spot for many.

Make sure you check your orders before leaving the store. Ordered 2 sides of Avocado with the 2 mini bowls. This is what the avocado looked like when I got to where I was going to eat a few minutes after picking up the order.

    Chicken bowl white meat
    Daniela C.

This flame broiler was very disappointing. I ordered a regular bowl with broccoli and white meat and they gave me very little white meat, definitely not worth the extra $1.50 upgrade charge. Seems like they were being very stingy with the chicken. The first picture is of what they gave me and the second picture is the same exact order from a different location.... You can see the amount of chicken given is very different

My regular bowl half and half you can tell they put effort to retain costumers coming back forsure

Even when Kelly stepped away, other staff checked in just enough so we never felt ignored or constantly interrupted. It was that ideal balance you hope for but rarely get. We arrived before the dinner rush, and I'm glad we did because the restaurant isn't very big. I can only imagine the wait once things get busy. If you're craving Korean food, stop by. I made our reservation weeks in advance as a Father's Day surprise for my husband but from the moment we arrived, everything went downhill. Our waiter was unprofessional throughout the entire experience. The first thing he did was insist on giving us a handshake. It wasn't a normal handshake it was extremely firm and uncomfortable to the point that my hand actually hurt afterward. It also felt inappropriate considering we were about to have dinner. As soon as he walked away, my husband looked at me and asked, "Did he squeeze your hand too?" I said yes because he had done the exact same thing to both of us. It immediately created an awkward and uncomfortable atmosphere. When we ordered our appetizers, we asked if our crab cakes could be prepared the way we've always ordered them during previous visits. His immediate response was, "Not today." He gave us a lengthy explanation about how they were too busy because it was Saturday. However, we've dined here many Saturdays before and have never had an issue. Eventually, he agreed to accommodate the request, but by then the interaction had already left a bad impression. His overall attitude and demeanor made us feel as though we were an inconvenience. He came across as rushed, dismissive, and almost as if he felt he was above us. We felt pressured to order before we were ready. When we asked for a little more time to decide on our entrees, he seemed irritated. Later, when we decided to order another item, he again gave us a hard time. At that point, we simply told him, "Never mind. We'll just stick with the appetizers." The entire experience was uncomfortable, and the negative energy completely overshadowed what was supposed to be a special Father's Day celebration. I spoke with the manager and explained everything that had happened. While he apologized, I left feeling as though my concerns were being dismissed rather than genuinely addressed. At that point, we decided to leave because Father's Day was already being ruined, and we didn't want to spend the rest of the evening feeling uncomfortable. Thankfully, we were able to get a table at RH Ocean Grill in Newport Beach, where we enjoyed a wonderful Father's Day dinner that lasted until 10:00 p.m. They completely turned our evening around. It's disappointing because we've always enjoyed dining here and have had many great experiences in the past. That's what made this visit even more surprising. It's unfortunate that such an important occasion was overshadowed by poor service, an unprofessional attitude, and a lack of concern when we brought our experience to management's attention.

No gimmicks, no theatrics, just the steady hum of a grill that's probably seen more lunch rushes than most people have had hot meals. The teriyaki hits first -- simple, slightly sweet, familiar in the way comfort food should be. Chicken grilled with enough char to remind you someone actually stood over flame to make it happen, not a microwave or a shortcut. Portions are generous in that unspoken way working-class spots understand: you don't leave hungry, and nobody's trying to sell you nostalgia on a plate. What stands out more than anything is consistency. In a world where restaurants chase trends or reinvent themselves into oblivion, this place feels anchored. The kind of neighborhood spot that survives because it has to -- because people actually come back, not because it's marketed well online. The space itself carries layers of history. You can still feel the old identity underneath the newer polish, like a building remembering what it used to be even after a remodel. That kind of continuity is rare. It's not fine dining. It's not trying to be. It's lunch, dinner, and everything in between for people who work with their hands, clock in, and just need something reliable that doesn't waste their time. And sometimes, that's the highest praise you can give a place like this: it shows up every day, does its job, and doesn't pretend to be anything else.
