Popped in for breakfast and checked out their 'dry' noodles (bone broth on the side). Delicious, high protein, low fat. Don't forget to take the bone out of the bowl to get to the meat! Parking tight but I snagged a spot close by!

It's been quite awhile since my last review but our visits here have tailed off after our daughter's graduation. Still worth the drive to Long Beach to get our fill of very good Cambodian food that I've yet to find up north. Parking was still a challenge and I dropped the family in front of the restaurant first so they can join the waitlist. This time I could only find a spot a few blocks away but by the time I walked back to the restaurant, the family got seated. The menu still had the same great options and prices but starting June 1st prices will be increasing. Definitely understandable in this inflationary environment. My favorite every time has been the loat cha with chicken such that the family knows never to ask what am I getting. We've tried the rest of the menu but the family has standardized on their noodle soups or rice porridge bowls. You can count on lots of ingredients, choices of noodles and rich tasting broths. The cha quai (bread stick) must also be ordered as the perfect pairing for dipping. We also ordered the nom sa-kieu (like a fried meat empananda) again and will continue. We ended our meal with a round of iced coffees for the table, strong and delicious. Not bitter at all. Hopefully we'll be back sooner than later.

Came here on a Saturday morning right before lunch time and we definitely beat the lunch hour rush. They have limited street parking so I would definitely circle around to find some street parking. They have an ipad outside to sign up if it starts to get busy. We ordered the pork noodle (you have the option to do it wet or dry-we chose dry) and the beef noodle soup. The dry noodles come with a side soup as well. My husband really liked the dry noodles since it was well seasoned. The beef noodle soup (with combo noodle types) was good as well. The soup seems very clean and rich with flavor. I would prefer to have some sort of pickled serrano peppers though to give it a citrus and spicy taste to balance out the savory soup. We also got some fried donuts which paired well with the soup. Very quick service and the food came out quick. Definitely a mom and pop shop but with a good amount of indoor seating as well.

Holy moly! My friend and I were craving a savory hot noodle soup breakfast and we stumbled upon this place, and I was blown away. INCREDIBLE dishes - we got the dry noodle dish which came with a bone broth on the side, and Mo's special porridge with the donut. I need to have this again. Plenty of self-service sauces/condiments on the side- traditional Asian eating. It was busy but service was reasonable. The staff were friendly in helping us choose what to order. It was such a nice time. Plenty of street parking around. It's cozy and traditional, what more can you ask for?

When you walk in, it instantly smells amazing. Like actually so good it makes you even more excited to eat. We were seated immediately, but I know this place usually has a long wait. We came around 11 am and definitely beat the rush. They also have an online waitlist, which is nice. Parking is a little tough since it's street parking and the area can get pretty busy with traffic. The food was sooo good. I got the house special with the soup on the side, and the soup was incredible. I literally could not stop drinking it. So flavorful and comforting. For the noodles, I chose the thick egg noodles and the texture was perfect. The seasoning was on point too. They also have all these extra sauces at the table and they make everything even better. I loved adding the vinegar with peppers, it gave such a good kick. Overall, I can totally see why this place is so popular. Definitely worth coming early for!!!! I cant wait to come again and trying something else.

The broth in the beef and meatball noodle dish was so authentic. They offer you a few types of noodles that you can get in the soup like the thick noodles or small rice noodles without an extra charge. I got the big rice noodle and it paired well with the soup. The me-ka-tang was also very saucy and flavorful. And the bread sticks were hot and fresh. It does get really busy in this restaurant so try to join the waitlist earlier in advance!

When the line is long, it indicates that the food is exceptional. I was impressed by the sheer deliciousness of their cuisine.

This is a Long Beach institution for sure. It is the pathway into Cambodian culture for people visiting Long Beach and an important spot to patronize if you live here. Phnom Penh, named after the capital of Cambodia, is a Khmer-owned noodle soup shop in the heart of Little Cambodia, Long Beach. I prefer to get my noodles dry, which then come with a side bowl of soup and a huge bone to gnaw on. The broth is just so good I love to be able to enjoy it on its own. You need to order the chinese donut so you can rip pieces of it to soak in your broth. I also love all of the accoutrements on the side, the pickled peppers and chili paste. You can also ask for a side of satay, which is a chili oil that elevates the spice of their noodles in the perfect way. I always get a Thai Tea/Vietnamese Coffee to complement the meal as well. They always sell some pastries like sweet fry bread that are good to take home and enjoy later.  I highly recommend supporting your local, family owned businesses, especially ones that are essential to making cultural neighborhoods cultural neighborhoods.

Food- DELICIOUS! I got the number 3 which is their beef & beef meatball kathiew and it just like how yeay would make it! The broth is to perfection, beef is soft, and flavorful! Service- faster, friendly, and efficient! Ambiance- from the outside it looks small inside, but when you go inside it's very spacious! It feels very homey

    Dana T.

My first time trying Cambodian food and I had to stop by this place everyone's been recommending. I did take out and called 15 minutes before arriving and it was perfect timing. I got #1 The House Special and #16 The Loat Cha Noodles. The house special broth was quite good and I liked the toppings it came with. The pork was a little too tough for my liking and I wish it came with a bit more because the dish was overwhelming noodle LOL. The #16 was pretty good and portion was a good size! Definitely get the Chinese donut on the side too!

    20. Pork Rice Porridge (House Special)

Came here before 9 AM and luckily beat the rush- no wait at all. I was feeling a bit under the weather, so I ordered the #20) Pork Rice Porridge (House Special) Congee, and it was exactly what I needed. It's hard to find places that prepare it traditionally with liver, and they did it perfectly. Because we dined in, our other dishes came with a side of broth and bone. The broth was incredibly clear and flavorful. it really hit the spot! The staff were friendly, and the interior is nice and clean. Great spot in Long Beach for comfort food.

Was craving noodle soup so we decided to come here. Parking is scarce and it's all street parking so just be prepared lol this place is a little hole in the wall and every table was filled when we got there. We put our name down on the yelp waitlist ahead of time tho and was able to get seated by the time we got there. The soup was sooo good and hearty, everything tastes like it's homemade which is what I enjoyed about this spot.

So many great things about this place, definitely lived up to the hype. You can definitely smell the delicious aroma as soon as you walk in. The food is authentic as you can get. The best place for Cambodian food. The portion is huge, high quality ingredients. The #1 Special full of flavor. Generous amount of meats. The rice noodles are perfectly cooked. Always get the iced coffee paired with the donut sticks. As usually dip it in the broth to soak up the flavor. Welcoming and efficient Service. And the price is affordable. My only issue is that it is street parking only.

My friend and I shared a variety of dishes: -Student Noodle: If chow mein and pad thai had a baby, this would be that dish. Without the fish sauce, the noodles tasted like chow mein. This dish overall was good! While I would still opt for pad thai, the noodle texture was good and I enjoyed the flavors. We got this with crispy pork and it was tasty, but I wish it was crispier. I liked how it wasn't too fatty. -Fish Amok: It did not look like the picture, but the dish was still good. It was a sweet fish curry which was sweet from the coconut milk. This was tasty and the fish was soft. It wasn't fishy at all. This paired well with the rice. I would still opt for a savory curry though. -Beef Skewers: These were yummy and I enjoyed the charred flavor of these! The flavor was very similar to Filipino skewers. I liked how even the fatty parts were enjoyable. Steamed Rice: Fluffy and not mushy which I liked. It came served in this cute rice bucket which preserved the heat of it. The restaurant was decorated nicely and was pretty clean. Bathrooms available which were also clean. The service was good and attentive. There's lots of free parking in the lot in front. Food also took an incredibly long time to come out even though we only ordered two dishes--student noodles and beef skewers. We also had to wave down a server just to follow up on the iced coffee that I ordered, especially since this was already after the food had finally arrived. The service was EXCELLENT, the decor was beautiful, there were lots of flowers and lavender lighting throughout the venue. Large platters of food were brought to our table of 8 guests, which was better than a buffet with hundreds of people waiting in line. Course #1 - Khmer Cold Plate with cured meats, shrimp, and pickled veggies. Good combination of protein and veggies. Course #2 - Grilled Beef with Prahok dipping sauce. Good smokey and rich flavor. Course #3 - Crispy Quail - with Khmer seasoning. Very crunchy and different way to eat Quail. Course #4 - Fish soup in a savory broth. I think this should have been Course #2 before the beef entree. Course #5 - Whole fish with pineapple garnish on a bed of noodles. My personal favorite. Course #6 - Lobster claws with Chow Mein, Veggies and Garlic sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed this one! Course #7 - Pork Fried Rice with diced veggies. Rice was definitely a welcome addition to the meal. Course #8 - Taro dessert with Coconut Milk topping. Not overly sweet, a nice way to round out and end the fabulous meal. I am still in awe of the wonderful time we all had. There was a stage and dance floor on the north side of the dining room. That would've been fine if the tables had been empty, but they actually asked us to get out of our seats so they could remove the table and chair linens. As for the food, some dishes were good while others were just average: Traditional cold plate: 4/5 - I liked the century eggs, and the pickled vegetables were refreshing. Beef steak with anchovy sauce: 3/5 - The beef was well seasoned and nicely charred, but it didn't come with the anchovy sauce that was listed on the menu. House special lobster with egg noodles: 4/5 - The lobster was good, and the noodles were flavorful, but they could've been cooked a little longer since they were a bit too al dente for my taste. Crab meat soup: 3/5 - The soup was thick and flavorful, but it barely had any crab. I'm not sure what else was in it, but it had white square pieces that reminded me of chicharrones with a seafood flavor. House special fried rice: 4/5 - It was flavorful and had plenty of Chinese sausage, but I wish it had more shrimp. Sweet and sour fish and shrimp soup: 3/5 - There was an ingredient I wasn't a fan of. I think they added mint, which gave the soup an unusual flavor. It just wasn't for me. Taro dessert: 4/5 - This was pretty good and was a nice way to end the meal. Overall, I don't see myself coming back to dine here. I explained to the waiter, clearly the cha qua is not cooked properly, has a strong odor smell of yeast and the flour is not cooked through and as an experienced home cooks between my mom & myself the dough did not have time to rise and the flour ratio was not properly measured. The young waiter apologized once more and came back from the kitchen explaining what my mom and I had speculated . We asked that he not charge us for the cha qua. So , I didn't think this could get any worse right? LOL!! Cha mee khatang ( similar to chow fun / pad see ew ) I opted for seafood as protein of choice, with shrimps, imitation crabs & squids . The Chinese broccoli was cooked perfectly. Except this dish didn't have much flavor. I rate it 2/5 BBQ roasted duck $25 for a half order. I been anticipating to try their duck for a few years now. To my dismay it was awful , damn! I expected so much more and it didn't meet my expectations. The skin was not crispy, had a funky gamy scent & tasteless flavor and came out cold at that. Rate 2/5 Baw Baw Kreung ( Cambodian innards / pork blood rice porridge. ) Deep sighs ... another disappointment dish . The rice porridge lacks savory taste, it was a tad under salt , by adding the fermented soybeans helps uplift the flavor. I find it gross! the minuscule fragments innards pieces has a bowel odor taste in our mouths. 1/5 Boat Noodle soup , was okay but needed some improvement. The noodles were too overcooked , texture was mushy, the flavor didn't have the savory beefy aroma, appreciate the fresh ong choy vegetables Rate3/5 Beef Stew w/ bread , crunchy crispy hot bread always hit the spot, dunk in hot beefy stew warms the heart. Unfortunately this dish stop short of a perfect meal. Although the meat was tender , the broth lacks the familiarity aroma of spices and lemongrass scent associated with this dish.. Rate 3/5

We ordered the som law ma chew kreung - green sour soup with crunchy veggies, my fave and it was so tasty! They gave a side of fish sauce but you didn't need it. It was good already Beef sticks were a little chewy for me but I put it back in my air fryer to make it more crispy. That might be more of a personal preference than the way it was cooked. The marinate was flavorful as well I liked the bee We also ordered the rice spring rolls. They were packed so full by the time I got home they basically exploded. So I probably wouldn't order those to go again.

It's well seasoned but it doesn't have that funk and herbaceousness. It actually had barely any herbs, just a few pieces of Thai basil and what I think is fish mint leaf, romaine lettuce. Jalapenos and bell pepper. As usual, if you're in the Stockton area in NorCal, go to Mitapheap restaurant and try their version. It's the best one yet. Their smoothie is not smoothie-ing. Ice is CHONKY. Amok is really good though. Order this one. I probably didn't order the best dishes they're known for but I don't see myself within the area for late night eats. A Cambodian family in the next table was criticizing their order too. Anyway, they do get a lot of ordered food to-go. A few men were playing dominoes in the middle of the restaurant and the guy in the next table had his feet up on a chair. Restroom was clean.

Unfortunately, one employee, Marisol, consistently provides poor customer service. She comes across as combative, takes no accountability for mistakes, and makes resolving simple issues unnecessarily difficult. My daughter called in our usual order for pickup. When she arrived, she immediately noticed something was wrong because the total was much lower than expected. When she politely brought it to Marisol's attention, instead of acknowledging that there may have been a mistake, Marisol insisted the order had never been placed that way. She then asked my daughter if she wanted to order the missing item while she was already there to pick up her food, which would require waiting another 15 minutes. Since the delay was the result of an incorrect order, my daughter asked if she could at least receive fresh fries while waiting. Marisol told her she would have to pay extra for fresh fries. Marisol also claimed that she had repeated the order back over the phone when it was originally placed. That simply isn't true. She rushed my daughter off the phone, saying she'd see her in 15 minutes, without reviewing the order. We've continued to support A&J's because the food is consistently excellent, but experiences like this make it harder to keep coming back. Great food can only go so far when customers are made to feel dismissed instead of valued. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional customer service training so loyal customers receive the experience they deserve.
