I haven't eaten inside here since before Covid. It's been forever! Back with my son & his buddy. It's nice and air conditioned, we got to pick our table and service was great! Food was yummy! My son got the spicy tuna rice bowl. Pretty good. Parent-taxed a little. My son's friend got the premium ramen Ichi w/ menma (bamboo shoot) & a "Naruto" (fish cake). The kids called it a "Naruto"... y'all can tell me if they're lying or not. SMH. Anyway, I got the premium Ni ramen on the menu and added menma & soy garlic & spicy. Got so full so fast! Couldn't finish it... Leftovers, baby! When I was little, after finishing ramen, we used to add rice to the soup. So perfect! I'm gonna steal my Sons leftover rice and eat it for dinner with the ramen broth! Thanks guys! Must try, y'all! Parking free for 2 hrs at the structure on 3rd & Pine. read more

I stopped by here for some ramen. This has been the best ramen i have had in a long time. I truly enjoyed it. I did feel like my tempura was bit soggy from the broth but overall it was still good the cheese on the ramen delicious. It was so filling it was so perfect. Hate it when decent food is ruined by discourteous service. Gu Ramen is one of the first restaurants my wife and I went to, after we moved to Long Beach 4 years ago. It's within walking distance, so was a bit surprised that I hadn't visited in over 3 years. My long cruise had gotten me a craving for good ramen, so decided to walk over for an early lunch. I got there about 10 minutes after it opened at 11, and was the first customer. There were two ladies working the front, and one of them greeted me immediately. I put up an index finger with a smile to show it would just be me, and was seated near the back close to the kitchen. I got a menu immediately and was asked what I wanted to drink. I told her water which came quickly. That's when it started turned janky. The server was having a rather loud conversation with the other server in a language I didn't understand. She finally came back after the other lady walked away (to work I'm assuming), to take my order. I stated what I wanted, and without any response, she just went away...wasn't sure if she got it right (but she had). About 10 minutes later, the fried rice dish came. She just put it in front of me without a word, ignored my 'thank you', and walked off. The ramen came a bit later, and same action. She did fill my empty water glass once without me asking, so I guess she was paying attention. Note I was still the only customer. The same attitude with the bill providing and credit card swiping; by this time I stopped trying to interact too. This is the time when I WANT to either just ask "What's your problem?" or more passive aggressively "Did I offend you in some way?" Decided it wasn't worth it, paid my bill, still giving a small(er) tip, and was on my way. Did notice that she was talking normally to a new customer as he was being seated. As for the food, both dishes were decent to great: the fried rice ($7.99 as addon to ramen) was great...very generous portion, cooked over very high heat to produce a delicious veggie fried rice. The tonkotsu ramen ($13.99) with added corn ($1.99) and narutomaki ($2.99) was decent (OK). Plenty of ramen noodle (so didn't need to order extra) topped with a two thick slices of well-prepared Chashu. The broth was OK too, but did give me stomach problems later (still haven't figured out what ingredient(s) cause this...but have decided that ramen and pho are worth it for me). read more

We went on a friday evening but we were seated right away. Our servers were accommodating and polite. We ordered the Tonkotsu ramen with shrimp tempura, Thai spicy hot wing and the Spicy tuna poke rice bowl. The spicy wing was the best choice among the 3. The flavor is very well balanced and it's not too spicy. You can taste the tanginess of the Thai chili sauce with a hint of sweetness. The Tonkotsu ramen has a mild flavor for me compared to other ramen I have tasted, but still pretty decent. The spicy tuna poke bowl has a medium spiciness for me but overall everything was good. This is seriously my FAVORITE ramen spot. I love the fact that I live so close to it. I dine in or order take out often. I always order the Shoyu Ramen either mild or spicy, and the flavor of the soup is so mouthwatering, the generous noodles are quality, and the eggs are so delicious. Amazing Ramen, well worth traveling for. Staff is attentive and friendly. Instantly greeted as you walk in the door and usually seated, it hasn't been super busy whenever we come. Every thing on the menu looked and sounded amazing but I planned to try the ramen because I've been craving a good bowl of ramen for a while. I landed on the shoyu ramen with tofu. I really enjoyed the taste of the broth. The flavor and seasoning was soul-healing. I don't usually go with plain chicken broth in ramen but I felt confident in my choice. I was literally happy dancing with each bite. The ramen was so good! My partner went with a spicy order of tonkotsu ramen with chicken, garlic, and black oil sauce. I tried parts of it and it was also delicious! I wanted to try the sushi but did not have that big of an appetite for both sushi and ramen so I opted for the salmon poke tacos. They tasted very savory and the salmon was flavored really well. The temperature and consistency was not too overwhelming for the tacos shell. The service was attentive and not too invasive. We took the check to the counter to pay. I am excited for our next trip here. It is dangerously walking distance for us! PS they have a sign that says they are hiring a dishwasher for Saturday and Sunday!

We came in specifically to order two coco cloud matchas and requested extra matcha cloud. The cashier/server explicitly agreed to our request. When I politely pointed this out, the employee told me to "just mix it and it'll taste good." When I said I wanted what I paid for and asked for more matcha, he shrugged it off and said they were running out and couldn't do anything. Customer service goes a long way. He could have easily offered a partial refund, explained the shortage before taking our order, or made more. Instead, I paid for a specialty drink that tasted like plain coconut water. Disappointing experience for a place I usually enjoy. It's truly bothering me that if they were running out of ingredients, they should have told us beforehand rather than charging us for a specialty drink and giving us a watered-down version with zero accountability. Very disappointing customer service today.

No complaints toward the quality of food being served. I asked our waitress if this restaurant still had a Michellin star rating? Her response, I dont know and I think so. I asked her to check with her manager, she came back 5 minutes later and stated her Manager does not know the answer as well. I find that quite odd Hmmmm .. Overall the food quality is great. The negative things on my visit are. 1. It was warm inside the restaurant which made it uncomfortable. 2. Only one small restroom 3. Prices are a tad on the expensive side. $19 to $20 a bowl. 4. I believe management was not being honest regarding my question about being a Michellin Star rated restaurant. How are you in management and dont know the status of your own restaurant? Honesty is the best policy. Good thing, food was good and everyone was friendly. Overall, i would come back because the food is good and the place does not get crowded.

I tried this place because other ramen places are far and booked. I was happy with the pricing and the quality of food but not with the servers. They seem so uninterested with their customers and pretend that they dont hear you or give you a bad look on their faces. From the fresh and crisp Spring rolls to the Spicy dumplings, and the our delectable, savory Pad Thai. Our Drunken Noodle dish, we ordered mild in spice level, but was mouth watering and delightful! We mentioned it to our friends, who were also here for the same convention, one couple ordered Door Dash the other 5 tried it and every single one of them were not dissatisfied. They loved their meals and thanked us for introducing them to the best Thai food, so far that we've had personally. Next time we are in Long Beach, we will most definitely come back!

The staff person recommended the Pho Dac Beit which comes with 6 different cuts of beef but he said I could customize it. I ended up getting the flank and brisket. The Pho made it home still piping hot and the broth was full of flavor. All the toppings were fresh. Since the noodles came pretty much raw it took a little time for them to cook in the broth but once it did, everything came together perfectly. This will be added to my rotation of Pho spots in Long Beach!
